We rented a paddle board from them this summer. The fin broke when we were bringing the paddle board back in from the ocean, so we called the company to let them know. A receptionist answered and we quickly got a call back from the owner stating that we broke the board and had to pay for it. Since we had two more days of rental on the board, we told them to come and pick it up. They did so and continued to argue with us about paying for the fin. In the end we never got reimbursed for the rental, and they got their money for the fin. We have been coming to the area for 10 years. I would never use this company again. We have used several other rental companies and never had an issue. I am glad that we tried a new company, only to make us appreciate the other companies.

We loved our outing through the swamp with Jeff. He kept us engaged and informed the whole time, knowing when to talk and when to let us enjoy the silence. I would recommend him highly!

Lighthouse Watersports’ Kayak tour should be on the top of your list for things to do in the Southport/Wilmington area. My Girlfriend and I chose to do Blackwater Cypress guided kayak tour. Jeff was an excellent tour guide with tons of insight. He was able to give both the history of the area, as well as identify and point out animals and plants that the untrained eye would neglect to notice. He was able to answer all of our questions with ease, and was very knowledgable about the eco system. However he also gave us ample time to immerse ourselves in the wetlands and experience the tranquility and beauty hearing nothing but the sounds of nature around us. Jeff also brought a high quality camera and was able to take both pictures of the group and the scenery around us. He also uploaded the pictures the day of, on the lighthouse watersports facebook page which was very convenient. Throughout the tour we saw several Owls, Heron, Alligators, Snakes and Spiders. There had recently been a flood in the area which had carried some trash over into the water, Jeff went out of his way to pick up the trash, showing both his genuine love and respect for nature. I would highly recommend this tour if you are in the area, you will not regret it. The information and beautiful scenery you absorb, makes you realize how fragile this eco system truly is. Now what better way to experience it than first hand in a up close and personal? — Tommy and Courtney
