The worst emergency care experience ever! Went in for upper abdominal pain that I had had for 6 weeks. Could not get in with local GI docs for so I went to ER. ER physician did not even touch or visually examine me for abdominal pain I had for 6 weeks. Only nurse touched me. They gave me Mylanta and referred me to the GI doctor that I had not been able to get into for six weeks. Did not do any imaging studies either. ER room was nasty even nurse told me «I wouldn’t walk on that floor if I were you.» They had to draw my blood twice because they forgot to get enough blood the first time for a certain test. Put in an IV line that they never used. When it was time to check out and pay, they were not able to give me a receipt when I checked out either. They told me «my manager will have to email you the receipt.» So, they billed my insurance for $ 4850 dollars for Mylanta and for a nurse to look at my abdomen and question me. DONOTGOHERE!!!

Beware of using their emergency room. CSMC might be in your insurance network but when you get your separate bill from the ER docs, you will learn that they are not in your network. So you will be paying an exorbitant charge yourself instead of your insurance company paying a negotiated charge. Yes indeed, our health care finance system is a sorry state.

I went in with a deep puncture wound. They didn’t clean it, refused to give me a tetanus shot(it’s been 20 years), and wouldn’t give me antibiotics until I insisted(the tool that punctured me was filthy). I never even saw a doctor, just what seemed to be students or assistants, Then after my insurance I owed them more than $ 850. I’m disputing the bill but the convoluted process takes a lot of time.

I had a great experience at the hospital! I spent only two days there and they were incredibly friendly and helpful. I went into the ER at 7am and the staff was kind and helpful. I’ve been to many hospitals and I have never received the kind of quality care that I received at the MED. I ended up having surgery and my doctors were all nice and had a great bedside manner. They made the usual stressful and terrifying hospital experience somewhat enjoyable and I will go back if I ever have to go to a hospital for anything else.

The truth about the MED. I was under there care for nearly eight months. As my condition worsened I lost 45 lb. I suffered horribly. I was emaciated crippled and dying. The last thing they told me was they had done everything they could, and didn’t know what was wrong with me. I ended up in a coma l was not supposed to recover. In fact I had HIV/AIDS. They didn’t know that. If they can’t diagnose AIDS, they can’t diagnose anything. An independent doctor who doesn’t work there diagnosed me, he didn’t save me from disease or illness he saved me from the MED. After everything went wrong they simply kicked me out in the street, yes they really did do that. They set me up to die, they will do the same to you. For GODS sake don’t go to the MED. Scott & White is but blocks away, ST. JOE’S is just across town. Choose life not death, not the MED. But they didn’t forget to bill me They even tried to sue me, what are they thinking. They lost in court. They simply don’t care. Thanks for all the help MED.
