I went to the Cotton Patch for the first time while visiting Bryan, TX. I am not one for franchises and like to find more local fare. But I was with my parents who need ADA accessibility and the Cotton Patch worked. The chicken fried steak was one of the best I have had outside of Joe’s BBQ in Alvin, TX. The cream gravy was spot on. The sides and biscuits were plentiful! The service was exceptional! They were very accomadting to my folks. The drinks kept being refilled. And they surprised my Dad with a dessert for his 80th birthday!

Best chicken fried steak in anywhere remotely close. All sides are good, recommend mushrooms and veggies. lower end of the $$ price range if coming from Hwy6 northbound, make sure you exit the hwy earlier much earlier.

My Wife and I really like cotton patch. My first experience was actually in Bryan followed by College Station, Georgetown and Round rock. We’ve been dining there for years and rarely miss the chance if one is located in a city we visit. We’ve dined at the Bryan location more times than I can count. The place is usually pretty packed and if it’s football season well you may have a wait. Of course the same can be said for Sunday’s after church. I believe we’ve only had one true negative experience where they undercooked my Wife food. I have also noticed the men’s lavatory dirty too. Still worse things could have occurred. The place is usually pretty clean despite the crowds. Surprisingly enough the wait staff generally serve well. 10.17.15 and the Wife wanted chicken tenders. We trucked on over and boy what a crowd. The aggies had just lost so folks were alk around. I was shocked we were seated so fast. I ordered bacon cheese fries since I missed lunch. We ate most all of it and got our dinner order. She hot her tenders, me I had the grilled Cajun duo(tilapia and shrimp). Our meals arrived within twenty minutes piping hot. We dug in and the food was good. I’m not sure what ot is about their broccoli but I love tastes so fresh and tender where the nutrients are still there. My Wife enjoyed her tenders as well. I was feeling my fish and shrimp. Ou waitress was attentive kept our water glasses full. One more good experience with the years of good ones we already have. If you want fair stick to your ribs food that may not impress your rich in laws but delivers. I say give cotton patch a try.

Slow service, average food. It took far too long for our order to come. Whoever had put together my son’s burger just smashed the bun on. Mash, macaroni, green beans, and okra were all so generic, nothing special. Even paying for our meal took ages. They were hardly busy. My kid is happy with his oreo. Skip eating here.

Very nice home cooking place. Always crowded; always a wait for tables. Good Chicken Fried Steak and even steak fingers. Sweet Tea; Good Salads, fruit as a side item. Small parking lot overflows into theatre next door. Less crowded and same food in College Station.

This was our first time at cotton patch and it was surprisingly pleasant. We were welcomed warmly by some servers and immediately escorted to a table. Our waitress was the sweetest lady, the pinnacle of food service. She was kind, polite and managed to not only correctly receive my complicated order but did it with a warm smile. The food came out in a timely manner and was wonderfully hot. Whenever our glasses were reaching empty she quickly refilled them. Y’all should definitely try the strawberry pecan salad because its delicious! The food was tasty and well worth coming again. The pricing is also fair so you get your bang for your buck(especially on Monday nights when they have their special for chicken fried chicken and steak). Overall a tasty and happy experience, we’ll be definitely be coming back. Oh and in case you wanna ensure a nice experience our waitress’s name is Ashley.

I ordered the lunch portion of the meatloaf, mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. It was the perfect size as I wasn’t starving but was getting hungry. The waiter was very courteous and made sure my drink was constantly refilled. My only complaint was the mashed potatoes had a fishy, seafood taste to them. Not sure why, but I didn’t finish them. This being my only complaint, I’m willing to give this restaurant a second chance.

So when we arrived, I asked for our party of 3 to be sat outside to enjoy the nice weather and the empty patio. However, almost immediately after we arrived, some of the restaurant staff began congregating at the table just behind us. Mind you, the entire patio was empty when we were sat. I felt it highly disrespectful for them to choose the closest table to a paying customer table to enjoy their lunches. After much observation, it seemed that one of the people at the table was the manager on duty. We listened as a server came out to ask for approval to give a customer a free meal and the ensuing conversation between the manager and the employee. There was other loud obnoxious banter between the various employees for the entire… Let me repeat… The ENTIRE time it took us to order, eat, pay, and leave. Live and learn, right? Hopefully next time they will have some tact. If there’s a next time.

Was not very impressed with this place. The food is mediocre and it is never hot. When you send it back for some«fresh» all the server does is heats it in the microwave making it taste worse, and dry out! My chances of eating here again are very slim.

We have been coming here for a few years, so I figured it’s time to write a review. The place is not fancy but it’s always consistently good. It’s a home cooking kind of place. The steaks, meatloaf, chicken tenders, and shrimp are always good. The veggie plate is good but the squash casserole sometimes comes out cold. I would recommend this place any time you don’t have time to cook and want a good meal. The prices are very reasonable.

Wasn’t to thrill about the fried green tomatoes or the shrimp basket. They were cold when they came out and the waiter was stand offish.

Came here for dinner during the week with the GF. We had a coupon for a free appetizer and since neither of us had eaten here we decided to give it a go. I’m glad we went but I wish we had gone sooner. The staff was really nice and welcoming; as soon as we came in they sat us in a nice booth. For the appetizer we ordered the seasonal fried green tomatoes which was brought out to us in record time. It was piping hot in all of its goodness and came with an avocado-ranch sauce that was just awesome. Before we had gotten through half of the food our entrees were brought out. She ordered the mango talapia with steamed vegetables and fried okra. I ordered the chicken fried steak with fries and mac & cheese. Everything looked amazing and tasted great. There was so much fried deliciousness that we just couldn’t finish it all and had to take home some leftovers(which I’m looking forward to). This was just a great place: delicious, plentiful food, friendly staff, and a friendly price. I’ll definitely come back again.

On the way back home from visiting our daughter at Baylor University we were in the mood for some fine homestyle cooking… In the past we had stopped at Sodalak’s Beefmasters and always enjoyed it! So we kind of had that thought in mind but when we pulled up we noticed the parking lot was empty and the place was closed and it was due to remodeling etc. Boy were we disappointed. Anyways my wife mentioned the Cotton Patch which happened to be just right down the freeway. We had heard of this place but never tried it so we decided to give it a whirl! As we drove up we noticed the parking lot was full right around the dinner hour. Good sign! As we walked in we were greeted very warmly by the hostess and promptly seated in a nice booth! The ambience inside the restaurant was lively and the food on the tables looked awfully good! Our waitress Emily came and greeted us warmly and took our drink orders as we perused the menu. When we made our decision she took our order and came back with a basket of hot rolls! They were sooooo good! Our food came out promptly… I ordered the meatloaf with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli rice casserole and was very happy and satisfied with the taste! Our family enjoyed the Cotton Patch very much and will definitely make it a future stop on our way back home! The facilities are very clean! The service excellent! And it is so convenient to the freeway! Definitely a 5 star experience!

I had the fried catfish which comes with 3 sides!!! Catfish was a tad bit salty but tasty nonetheless. Surprisingly, for a restaurant, the dressing was very good. The rest of the sides were good too. Peach tea wasn’t too shabby though trying to find the perfect blend was a tad difficult. The waitress was so kind and polite though working with me. The bread was piping hot and cornbread was warm too. Really I’d give 4 ½ stars if I could. Minus for the saltiness of catfish and potatoes(were just okay)

I’ve been here twice. Once take out and once sit down with the shop guys. Take out I got the salmon with vegetables. Salmon was good but the best part was the rolls. I can just eat those and the salmon and be fine with that. The time I at in I brought all our shop guys out. They gave us a big long table for our group(12 – 14 people). We had great service the whole time. I got the chicken fried steak. It was pretty good for chicken fried steak. Outside was crispy and inside was juicy. Only regret is getting the lunch portion and not stepping up to get the regular portion. Next time.
