We were passing through town and needed to find a place for dinner. Decided to check this place out after reading the reviews. We started off with the Crab Rangoon, which was really good. Then I got the Pad Thai with Chicken, it was pretty bland looking but tasted pretty good. My husband got the General Tso’s Chicken and it was really good. After we finished our meal they brought out these little yellow Icecream cake like deserts that were delicious. If we’re in the area again I would definitely come back.

Excellent! Fast, modern, clean, great tasting! Best Thai curry I’ve ever had! The cook greeted us warmly after dinner. Definitely recommend.

This place is actually QUITE good as far as takeout goes. Their curries are excellent. This might not be high quality dining, but is definitely one of the few Asian places in town that I feel I can eat without worrying about the consequences.

The restaurant was clean but plain. The owner was very friendly. I had the Thai Basil Chicken, a favorite dish of mine, and the chicken was rubbery and the flavoring was off.

Tremendously friendly man at the counter who made us feel welcome and appreciated but unfortunately, this is where the joy stops. My partner and I went the ‘Thai’ route and indeed, the food warrants the quotation marks. Both the Spicy Puket Seafood dish and the chicken curry were abysmal. The flavors were all off, the ‘lobster’ in the seafood dish is actually really poor quality faux lobster, though the shrimp were cooked ok, the sauces were thin and greasy. Very little Thai about it, let alone good Thai, or good food in general. The interior is pretty standard, baseline, no frills, but casual and clean. Because of the kindness of the proprietor, I wish this restaurant well. But if I lived here, I would try the Chinese dishes to see if the other side of the menu warrants a return, and otherwise would leave without turning back.

I had an odd experience eating here on a recent business trip. I looked down the street and saw several eateries and then out of the corner of my eye, hey… Asian, something small and local. I head in and ask for broccoli in garlic sauce. I’m promptly served brocolli and chicken with no rice. Now, I’m not one to really complain… cept in a Unilocal review. I can do without the starch and I’m not averse to chicken but that’s two strikes. As seems usual this is a family affair restaurant and given all the good reviews I’d actually like to try it again and see what the buzz is about. I found my food average at best. When I was at the counter the gentleman asked me if I was from out of town. I told him I was in from Austin and he nodded. I guess long hairs aren’t making much of a dent in College Station. :P

Great lunch experience, the chicken curry was perfect. Egg roll & chicken corn soup was tasty. Traveling on business, glad Unilocal came up with Dragon One!

Everyone in Aggieland needs to eat here. This is not your average«Chinese» or even«Asian» restaurant and given Bryan and College Stations handful of mostly mediocre choices, this is in a category of it’s own. For late lunch today Dragon One topped every Asian restaurant that my wife and I have tried in Aggieland(now, ALL of them) in the last 7 years. Dragon came as highly recommended by a local chef /friend and there’s been a lot of word of mouth chatter around town about it in foodie circles. Everyone was right, even Texas Monthly reviewed it in the June 2013 Issue thus making it of notable mention in the entire State of Texas. Texas Monthly Review; Upon walking in we were immediately greeted and invited to pick our seat, menus and cold drinks came out super fast which was nice since it was 105 °F outside and ice cold water in a cold real glass with fresh sliced lemons in just seconds by a friendly waitress was the first indication that we picked the correct place for a unique and good lunch. The décor was cute, soft music just right for conversation making for a perfectly relaxing setting. Went with the servers suggestion of the Yellow Curry Chicken and I added fried rice, Hiroko picked the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce with white rice and we picked appetizers of eggrolls and deep fried spring rolls. Appetizers came out quickly and very hot to touch as obviously fresh fried to order(proper temp) exactly how they should be. Each had a nice flaky crust with fresh ingredients and lovely almost floral dipping sauce. When the entrees came out they smelled so wonderful that it was actually hard to take the photos of them(do enjoy) without taking the first bites. My first taste of the yellow curry is one I won’t forget and will always associate with the first time I found the best Thai curry in Bryan /College Station in the 7 years I have lived here. Now I cook Thai and if you can beat mine you automatically get 5 stars. But this blew mine away. Next time I feel like cooking Thai curry at home, I probably won’t bother and just come over here instead. The hammered chicken in a generous portion was happily married to the extremely fresh green peppers and onions, sliced to a perfect thickness to retain a crunchy but steamed texture as if someone in the kitchen was a master of food science. It could have been better with extra potatoes. The curry sauce could rival anything in Houston, Austin and very likely way beyond. It had what I considered to be a perfect balance of sweet layered in almost sneakily with the Thai bitter and heat providing a complex and enjoyable taste at every single bite. Hiroko and I have not tasted Shrimp in Lobster sauce for nearly a decade each. I had all but given up on it because apparently no one in the US know how to make it properly. It was creamy and perfect, best I have tasted outside Houston about a 10 years now, the last time I found it being made right. It was interesting to note that the portions(at about $ 9 a person, same as any other«average» Asian in town, which this is –not-) were pleasantly filling and we were not left feeling gross like after eating a bunch of grease. Our cleaned off plates had no grease on them, not even from the fried rice. Very interesting and unique. We felt as if we ate much healthier than at other Asian restaurants locally. The owner, Chef Sky visited our table as he did with everyone and he was really fun to talk to as he has an upbeat food philosophy which is rare and you normally only find that pride and attitude at the top shelf(expensive) restaurants. An obvious reason why other local top chefs around town have been eating here as well. Peeks into the almost sterile clean kitchen and the nearly flawless Health Dept reports(posted right inside the front entrance) puts this restaurant way up on a hard to reach top shelf compared to other local options. Thank you to Texas Monthly & my around the town foodie friends for insisting that I was missing something by not having tried Dragon yet. Just simply forgetting there was new Asian in town was a savage oversight and wife and I have been missing out. No longer. Dragon One is now our #1 top pick for Asian in Aggieland. If you like Veritas with Chef Tai’s Asian Fusion, 40 Tempura for Japanese, Ohana Korean Grill or Lanna Thai, you will love Dragon One.

love thai food so I went here based on a local chef’s recommendation. We ordered Panang curry with chicken and drunken noodles with beef — labeled with 1 chile — it was spicy! but good spicy! so I don’t understand the reviews I read about not being spicy enough and we love spicy food. we will go back for sure — we called ahead and did take out.

Fantastic food, hands down the best Chinese restaurant in BCS. The owner is very personable and aims to please. Dragon One is my new go-to place for Chinese food.

Update: I tried to take a visiting Chinese friend on Feb. 3 to find they were closed. No sign to indicate why, but presumably they went home for the Lunar New Year. A bit annoyed to drive all the way out to Bryan to learn this. They lose a star for not putting up a sign at least. This is my new favorite asian food place. We had: green curry(chicken), yellow curry(shrimp) and pad thai. All were very nicely flavored. I asked for my green curry with a little extra spice and it was perfect. The owners are Chinese, but the Thai food was really great. We shall try the Chinese food next time. Their lunch specials are valid on Saturdays too – 3 adults and 2 kids ate for $ 34, including hot tea. For the kids(ages 4 and 7) we just ordered two bowls of rice, one bowl of steamed broccoli and an order of the chicken satay with the sauce on the side. I’m really pulling for this place: their location is not great, wedged between Lowes, Wells Fargo and Walmart in Bryan but hopefully the quality keeps up and they get the support they deserve.

Really enjoy the food here. The owners are very accommodating, more than willing to modify dishes to suit customers personsl taste. I have been several times and tried both the Chinese & Thai dishes. Everything was well prepared and delicious. Definitely recommend Dragon One.

This is the only Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to that makes food fresh. The broccoli that came with my meal was steamed(yummy! Not greasy or soggy with oil like other places!) and all veggies(mushrooms in our hot and sour soup!) were FRESH! I was so impressed! There’s a bit of a language barrier depending on the waiter but the prices were amazing. Dinner for two was $ 26 with an appetizer and drinks! My chicken was freshly battered and fried too! I’m still amazed! Dragon One is a gem! If you don’t come here you’re missing out!

I had the green curry chicken, very tasty, though not very spicy, I will ask next time for extra spicy. Chicken was good, vegetables were cooked just right. Service was prompt and friendly. Definitely better than your average Chinese place. I’ll go back.

This place is a little hole-in-the-wall near Bryan Wal-Mart. The décor is bland, and the service is a little bit slow, but you can tell it has potential. Though the service took a while, the waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the string bean chicken(which Jin’s doesn’t have, and I’ve been craving forever) and the yellow curry. The string bean chicken was exactly as I had expected, except the bean-chicken ratio was off(not enough chicken). The curry was also good, but if you want it spicy, make sure to tell them, because it isn’t very spicy at all by default. One unusual aspect of the restaurant is that the rice is bought separately, white rice is $.75 and fried is $ 1.50. Also, the rice is slightly weird tasting and not that great, but I’m just picky about that kind of thing. Overall, the food was very good. Each of our meals cost $ 10.50 total. We’ll probably be coming back, but the food is a little bit expensive compared to Jin’s and the portions are smaller. It has good potential, especially if they hired a hostess or something. All in all, give this place a try. There’s still some things it needs to work out, but the food is good.

New gem in Bryan. You can get Chinese food pretty much anywhere but you can’t always find a good place for Thai food. That has now changed in Bryan/CS. Nice quiet atmosphere, super clean and kind owners.

5STARCHINESE I’ve eaten here multiple times a week for three weeks now, and have never been disappointed. Even after ordering a different dish each time. With dine-in, service is spot on and very, very personable. PRICES are cheap for the quality of food you receive. FOOD is phenomenal. SERVICE is great. I cannot say that delivery service is 5 star as I have never ordered food for delivery. I give Greg D. and his review 1 star for poor character.

Today was our first visit to Dragon One. Of course, I’ve only had one dish, the panang beef. It’s one if my favorites and I’ve eaten at every place that it’s available in this town. This is the best I’ve had. Even better than my old favorite, long since gone, Nippa Hot, across from campus. The wife loved her shrimp with lobster sauce. She finished the whole meal. And, she never does that. Ever! Rice did not come with the entrée. It’s 0.75 extra for white rice. The tea was fresh and had a slight lemony flavor. Nothing artificial about it. Very refreshing. The servers were very nice, enthusiastic and accommodating. In fact, the enthusiasm was such that I left with the impression they may have been the owner/operators although I don’t know that. The prices are reasonable, as are the portion sizes. There is one other place in town that is almost as good but their prices are really high and the portions are small. This is going to be my goto Thai food stop. Good luck guys! Update: I recommended Dragon One to a friend at a business while we were eating. They made a moderate delivery order. My friend stated that half of the order didn’t arrive and that it took almost two hours for the delivery to get there. I’m hoping that these issues are just a result of the«newness» of Dragon One and that any organizational or staffing issues will be ironed out. The food quality is spot on IMHO.
