We stayed at the Colonial Manor and USG was highly recommended by Unilocal so we gave it a try at lunch. We liked the food and service so much that we returned for dinner, which was somewhat of a disappointment. The service was far slower and it took our dinner forever to arrive. The ribeye was a very thin, disappointing cut and was not cooked to medium as requested. It also arrived cold at my table. My husband ordered the all you could eat Alaskan fish and was served only three pieces to start. He asked for six more pieces and again had to wait for them to catch the fish before delivering it to the table. Despite the poor service at dinner, the USG seems to be one of the finer dining options in town, if you aren’t in a hurry and don’t mind the wait for your dinner.

Service was great. Our waitress took the time to go over the menu with my coworker and I highlighting various items. Had the sampler for an appetizer with chicken, pot stickers, mozzarella moons, and onion rings. Very good. My entrée was the cajun pasta with grilled chicken and a very good salad with a unique tasting Italian dressing. Again… very good! My coworker had the ultimate burger with fries which on a scale of 1 to 10 was an average 5.

I’ll give it 3 stars. I’m not really impressed with the whistling waitress who seemed like she had all the time in the world. She wasn’t bad tho. I’ve had worse. Just don’t whistle at the table of customers. The calamari in garlic butter was pretty good. Was different from how I’ve had it before, but not bad. The marinara sauce was awesome though. I got a grilled pork chop with Fuji apples on it and mashed potatoes along with cottage cheese. Overall pretty tasty. The Fuji apples really gave the pork chop extra flavor. The mashed potatoes were alright. Not my favorite. My boyfriend got the chicken strip dinner with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I thought the strips had great flavor. The broccoli seemed to be cooked alright. Overall not a bad experience. If you want somethin more upscale in the Bryan area, go to this place.

We really like USG. Go there frequently and normally eat in the bar. The food is consistently good, hot and served on time. We love Theresa as a waitress and Pam and Gary could not be nicer as host/owners. We’re not WWW and OB Guy from previous reviewer. Next time you are in town, go to the bar, the people there are friendly and, normally, not obnoxious. Since it is a bar, sometimes it does get loud, but not obnoxiously. Only suggestion is that they put new things on the menu more frequently.

«Loud with locals. Great prices, friendly-ish service. Great portobella ravioli but don’t bring a date here for a romantic dinner til the happy hour folks have gone home. Décor like the attached motel… Retro. but in a good kinda way. Not trying to be, it just is… early 80s…» …That was my review… along with four stars… when I first got there, based on previous visits and the first impressions of my current visit… unfortunately for me, several things became quickly apparent: 1. The ‘loud locals” were the same ones from the last visits I’d made(over several months). Obviously, they’re not leaving. 2. The«loud locals» didn’t leave. Well, one of them did. But the wicked witch of the west(the laugh was EXACT… and LOUD) stayed on. In fact, every time the waitress came out, WWW cackled and LOUDLY insisted the waitress come over to their table to answer a question, serve yet another beer, etc.(it was about 6:30, my friends)… 3. The ravioli. hmm. Last time, I ordered the Portobella Mushroom Ravioli with alfredo sauce. Was great. The sauce was kinda thin(the way you want to let the flavour of the ravioli come through), the ravioli cooked perfectly. NOTTHISTIME. The ravioli was undercooked(stuck to my mouth). No flavour, and the Alfredo Sauce. HMM. Where do I begin? THICK, GLOBBY, LUMPY, and TASTELESS! I scraped off as much as I could and found that the ravioli had VERYLITTLE filling, was mostly the sealed portion(aka, just thick, undercooked pasta). I had been waiting on this pasta for two days(to my initial dismay, went to a FARSUPERIOR restaurant with folks last night…{so thankful now I got good dinner lasat night!}…look for the fab review on that place soon«Stella Blue»). 4. The service. Obviously, the WWW and her«pretties»(another, much quieter girl and one semi-loud guy, one OBNOXIOUSLY vulgar/loud guy) were annoying the majority of the patrons. I guess the looks could be taken as «curious interest», but hey — for a place that is supposed to be an «upscale» dining establishment…) I’m not sure if my waitress was attempting to avoid the spells of WWW or if she was just lazy. I never was asked how my meal was, my credit card was out on table for at least 10 minutes before she came over and asked«would you like some dessert?»(uh…duh… the cc was out…) 5. The price: For $ 9.99, what can you expect for a dinner? The glass of wine(undersized glass, filled half-way) at $ 6.50 was reasonable. OVERALL — If you are in Bryan, OH, you will undoubtedly be staying at the Colonial Manor Inn(BTW — HIGHLY recommend this quaint, retro motor lodge!!!), try to avoid the temptation to eat conveniently at the Union Street Grill(unless you check out the scene first and be sure that the foursome at the third table isn’t in attendance — although you should be able to hear them long before you reach the door). If you do decide to eat there, avoid the alfredo sauce(this was some thick, gloppy orange creation with flour balls intermixed in). You might be able to find something worthwhile. AFTERTHOUGHT: I have ordered take-out here before and brought food back to my room. The staff is EXTREMELY helpful and friendly. GOODFOLKS. I’m very sorry to give this place such a lousy rating, but the lack of controlling the establishment(the WWW and OBXBOY should’ve been cut off long before I got there!) totally destroyed any hope of having an enjoyable dining experience. Fortunately for the restaurant, I will probably eat here again, will re-rate next time. Hopefully some improvements will have been made.
