Best chocolate shake I’ve had in a Looong time. Old time soda shop feel with friendly staff. An unexpected surprise.

Cute décor and has potential, unfortunately overpriced and rude staff. Asked if my son could sample a flavor and was told«we’re out of sample spoons.» So asked if we prepurchase can he sample with a regular spoon. Nope«we can’t give samples.» Spend your money elsewhere! There are plenty of much better options just down the street.

Their ice cream is average with the usual ice cream shop fare. The decorations are supposed to be reminiscent of an old fashioned ice cream parlor but they manage this only marginally. The kicker though is that they only take cash, which is not that big a deal but you don’t know this until they have handed you your ice cream. Luckily we had the cash to pay with but others here given vague directions to an ATM. We visit Bryson City frequently but we won’t be back here.

Ice cream was tasty but felt i was overcharged. He accepts cash only which is no good in todays world and he did not give me a receipt. After doing the math i was overcharged by $ 6. I eneded up paying $ 23 for three single scoops and one hot fudge sundae for which the chocolate was very watered down. Lots of ice cream shops in town to do business with. Will try a different one next time.

What a blast from a time when life was simpler and easier. Bryson City is so nostalgic a small mountain community filled with salt of the earth people, beautiful scenery, and amazing food and drink. Soda Pops is an amazing experience and a real treat. First of all, the atmosphere is absolute throwback to the 50s and 60s when an ice cream shop was the place to go! Amazing coke merchandise and memorabilia, rock candy, good music and a friendly staff. The ice cream is phenomenal and is the reason I have stopped at soda pops every time I am in town and have been visiting for the past 20 years! I stay simple and have chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone with awesome portions and great flavor. Also, they make hand spun milk shakes and malts! My friends had a vanilla ice cream with fresh cookie dough malts and enjoyed absolutely every last slurp of them. Soda Pop’s is an amazing ice cream parlor and is a venue not to miss if you find yourself in Bryson City!

They don’t serve homemade ice cream, which you would expect for the price you pay. They also refuse to provide samples, so you risk shelling out a pretty penny for an ice cream you don’t even like. When I talked to the owner about this, he would not tell me why, only that he would discuss the reasons with me if I came in for a free ice cream.

Love this place right in the heart of Bryson City, NC. It has the total old school ice cream parlor feel. They just moved about 100′ from their old spot, still has the same street parking. Family owned, just like the way it used to be. Prices are average, but they serve Blue Bell ice cream so it’s worth it. They have ALL the ice cream parlor favorites. You won’t be disappointed.

Interesting shop. We were looking for some homemade ice cream store and went into this one. They do not serve homemade ice cream. They serve the blue bell ones, but they have these flavors that they mix up in the store. We got the pumpkin cheesecake one and it was delicious. I have never had ice cream mix in flavor like this before. It’s something new and it was pretty good.

The ice cream is definitely good so you could get one of the flavors by itself and be satisfied but the custom blends take it to a new level. I got the Strawberry Cheesecake and they used vanilla ice cream, strawberries, graham crackers, and I’m not sure what else and put it into this old fashioned looking machine that mixes everything all up. It was excellent and very light and airy. My boyfriend got the Cherry Vanilla which was just as delicious. You can’t go wrong with the custom blends!

We wandered in here looking for a bathroom recently as vacationers. I ordered a chocolate malt before I realized there wasn’t a public restroom but holy wow, am I glad that I did. It was easily one of the best malts I’ve ever had. The proprietor was super friendly and the shop itself is really cute. If I hadn’t sworn off my Coke addiction in the last year, I would have been ordering lots more. I didn’t find the prices to be outrageous like some of the other reviewers. They seem on par with any café I’ve gone to in the last year. Most places have raised prices incrementally on any dairy as the price of milk went up in the past few years so it makes sense to me that a milkshke would run around $ 4.

Cute little quirky place with a lot of antique stuff from the age of malts and sodas. However I didn’t like being in there because it had a weird smell and the booths and tables were kinda sticky and gross, so we took our stuff to go. The prices are a bit high, so I didn’t get anything, but my husband got a mint chocolate chip milkshake, and it was really good. I made him share. ;) so if you like ice cream and stuff along those lines, this is definitely better than Dairy Queen, but a little more pricey, so be prepared.

creamy icecream, delicious and smooth ice cream sodas(like soft serve) to indulge in more unique options, good variety and capabilities… all good! Cash only — keep it in mind.

Very old fashioned nostalgia rich decorum. Service offered was patient and kind, very tasty concoctions a bit pricy for what you get but overall a treat for the senses and offers a portal into a simpler time and place.

Prices are pretty high for what you get on most things. The small soda at $ 0.75 was a pretty good deal. My sisters got the sodas(just regular fountain soda), and I got a root beer float. The float was good, but sadly, I’ve had better from other places for a much better price(Stewart’s in NY state, for example). The root beer they used was Barq’s, and the ice cream was Mayfield. The cups were styrofoam. I’m setting you up for the next paragraph… They have some neat stuff on the walls, but what really makes this place falter in my ratings is the price for what you get. None of it is homemade or anything. Four dollars for an ice cream float(Barq’s + Mayfield vanilla)? Four dollars for a smoothie(I pray the fruit is fresh, but probably isn’t)? Four dollars for an ice cream(Mayfield, which costs $ 4 a gallon in the grocery store)? Huh? I should have read previous reviews about costs. I mainly went because I though it had a cool name. Won’t come here again. Won’t recommend it. I feel stupid because Ingles is just down the road, and I could have picked up a case of root beer for the price I paid.

Cool, vintage soda fountain with everything you would expect in the 1950’s. Fun. The prices are high – 3 stars.

The ice cream is really good, but the special blends are amazing! The malts are really good, too! Also, they have a really interesting selection of sodas.

Great decorations, but EXPENSIVE! $ 2 for 6 oz coke, $ 3 small ice cream, .25 for water. The exterior sucked me in and then prices suck money out of my pocket. It was like witches house in Hinsel and Gretal. Wouldn’t let myself go back the prices were too painful.
