There’s probably 5 establishments that you can get Korean style Chinese foods within 1 mile radius from this horrible place, I ate here only to experience the horror. Worst food decision I’ve ever made this year so far. I called and ordered a fried rice from this place located in the corner of the Galleria plaza next to Super 1 Market Hannam Chain. This particular restaurant is located right next to the public restroom of the plaza. Not the best location for a restaurant. Don’t take your GF or BF or even family here. Despite the odd location, I decided to give a try. I thought at least food and/or service may be good. It was utterly wrong. It was bad altogether. The lady who picked up the phone tried to talk informal speech(«banmal») on me in Korean. I am not too demanding but speaking in informal speech in Korean is perhaps equivalent to some body calling you«hey you, young boy(girl)» in every sentence in English. Extremely rude and unprofessional, I am in my 30s BTW. Maybe it was the hunger I had at the time but I was overly forgiving(and stupid) enough to be easy on this, and ended up ordering from this nasty place. As I said, I phone ordered and was told to wait 10 min. until the fried rice ready. I got here around the estimated time and still waited 15 additional minutes. I am sure they started making it after I got there. I ended up waiting a total of 25 min. for a fried rice(Lie #1) I asked for the Chanpon(spicy seafood noodle) soup on the side which is commonly provided as a complimentary service in the industry(I don’t mind paying extra for this, in fact I usually tip them if they give it to me). The lady said she can’t give it to me(rudely) because no one ordered Chanpon at the moment and it’s impossible to make it just for me. I understand the availability part. However, I saw people in the restaurant eating Chanpon! in my plain sight straight up. I don’t wanna argue about a little soup but what’s obvious was that she lied to my face.(Lie #2) I don’t know if it was intentional, but she shorted me 5 cents in change. I am not saying she stole a bank but it appeared to be really shady to me especially after all the previous lies.(Lie #3) Food? at this point, it didn’t really matter. It was average or below. How could a simple to-go order go so wrong and creepy? Well, that’s what happened to me at Lai Lai. From 1 to 10, everything seemed so shady about this place. I am actually surprised that this is surviving despite the fierce competition in the area. I eat outside 7 days a week and this place is definitely off my to-go list. I shoulda gone to one of many other popular joints in the area. Lai Lai is LIELIE. Never again.

From 3.5 to 4 stars. Congrats lai lai. :) We had the typical special all seafood jja jjang myun, the volanco jjam pong at level 4, chinese cold noodle and pal moo chim. I believe Pal Moo Chim means 8 ingredients dish… all seafood and veggies in the oh so delicious snot sauce(aka corn starch sauce)…and it was so delicious. It has my favorite sea cucumber in it! At around $ 16 or $ 18, it was so good! Ask for some chili sauce and dab a little :) The volcano soup was VERY spicy at level 4. Level 5 is the spiciest. The jjajjamg myun was good as always. And the cold noodle was good except the noodles were a little clumpy this time. All 4 dishes for about $ 55(includes tax) is a ver good deal! The complimentary hot tea is very light but you can ask for darker one. They got it. The iced water comes with no ice but its cold and poured from a pitcher that contains lemons. Very refreshing. They pour in a coca cola classic old school glass with a handle… quite strange.

I had Chinese & garlic shrimp. Bill was $ 32.37 for 2 items. It was delicious. Portions are small for Korean Chinese Restaurant. Place is clean & nice but it has weird burning smell. Lunch time gets busy but dinner was quiet. Only 3 tables were occupied on Friday night.

The jjajjamyeong is 3.5 stars. The noodles taste chewy and good, but the sauce is average. There are very few tiny meat pieces in the sauce and they are dry. I would not come back to eat the jjajjamyeong here. The service is great and lady is kind. Kim chi side dish is good. The yellow radish was not fresh. The hot tea is not worth. Tastes like the metal pot, and the metal pot used to serve is very old. The jjampong is pretty good though

Fried dumplings are still bomb but their taste in noodles is changing slowly… not the same original, rich taste anymore. Also service is slow and food comes out late… workers are not efficient and do not walk around asking if everything is ok.

FIRSTIMPRESSION — My dad and I went to this restaurant for dinner after walking into the cute little mini-mall area. The restaurant looked very clean and had a nice atmosphere The first weird customer service encounter was when the lady basically directed us to sit at a table when we were in the middle of deciding for ourselves were to sit. I figured she was just being polite, so I forgot about it. When we got the menu, my dad ordered the lunch special sweet and sour and I ordered the Mongolian beef. My dad also ordered some fried cream cheese wonton. A few minutes later, the lady came to our table and told us that they were out of the fried cream cheese wonton. We could have forgotten about it, until she told us we should order egg rolls. She went on about how they were freshly made on Mondays after we said«No thank you». She kept talking about the egg rolls, so I decided to be polite and look at the menu to select a different appetizer. An appetizer besides egg rolls. She brought me a menu and we asked her about the dumplings. She described the egg rolls again. My dad asked a second time about the dumplings and she described them. When she was done talking about the dumplings, she said they are ONLY offering the egg rolls. My dad doesn’t like egg rolls, so we passed again. She asked us if we didn’t like them, why we didn’t like then, ect. I felt like she assumed we have never had egg rolls before. I believe that they were fresh, but when a customer says no, asking them a second time should be the absolute last time you push something on them. MENU — The menu had a lot of options, but did not offer desert. I was really confused as to why they did not have all the items available on the appetizer list besides JUST egg rolls. We would have gladly ordered desert instead, but there were no deserts available. FOOD — The food took awhile, but we were content with waiting. When the food got there, the waiter didn’t ask us if we wanted a fork or not, so we asked for a fork. He took our drink orders and my dad ordered his drink, I ordered a water. We split the food so we got half of both dishes. The portions were perfect and left just enough room for desert. The sweet and sour was really good! The chef put a lot of sauce on the food so it was really flavorful. I liked the crunch it had to it, it made the dish really enjoyable to eat. The Mongolian beef was just okay. It was really chewy so it was difficult for me to swallow. The flavor was good, and the vegetables tasted fresh. I liked the rice too, of course. I was halfway through my meal and the waiter didn’t bring the water I asked for, so I had to flag him down and ask him again. He brought it out without delay, which I appreciated. However, I expected to get my drink the first time. BATHROOM — Before we left, I used the bathroom. The bathroom was very nicely decorated and clean. There was a full mirror and a little plush seat to put personal belongings or maybe for someone to sit if you take your child to the bathroom. OVERALL — Overall, the food was decent. The atmosphere was great, and the customer service had some issues. I think the language barrier was a factor, and I believe the lady was trying to be polite but ended up being a little too pushy. The waiter was shy-ish, didn’t talk much, and was a little forgetful. We probably won’t come here again.

I order to-go whenever I have a killer craving for my Korean soul food, this place definitely delivers the fix. I always get the half&half jjam-bong and sweet and sour pork. The food is great, the noodles are chewy(even when ordered to-go!), the soup is spicy. I always forget to ask to increase the spiciness! They have a sign out front and I never remember til I walk up. The lady that works here is so nice and thoughtful. I always ask for extra kimchi and she gives me a huge portion of it. I ordered once and she said there would be a 30 minute delay. I came to pick it up, and I guess she felt bad she gave me all this extra food lol. It was taking a long time because she wanted to remake a few things so they taste fresh.

I came here last night and had a mediocre experience. Service: I tried to pay with my Amex and she literally threw the card back at me. It’s not a big deal as I have a Visa card to pay with. You can simply tell me they don’t accept Amex instead of throwing the card at me. I ordered some food but had to change the order since i ordered the wrong item. She told me they already started cooking the food. It was literally less than a minute I had to change the order. The lady told me to order both items if i needed it so badly. Very rude. Food: Jajamyun was ok. Noodles and sauce were ok but the meat was hard. The meat was hard like it was old and each piece was about 1 cm big. Fried rice was ok but only gave me 2 pcs of shrimp. Would I come back? probably not since I can just go elsewhere for jajamyung.

Got a quick bite here. Got the ½ & ½. The jjam pong was good. Just the right amount of spiciness and the noodles were cooked perfect, but slightly salty. However, with jja jang myun, I wish the sauce was bit more dense. If not, bit more served. The ban chan didn’t include the sliced raw onions which I’ve come to love and expect from any restaurants that serves jja jang myun, but I won’t loose sleep over it. The hot tea they served was so light that you can taste the«tap» in tap water. The tea didn’t get any better/stronger with time, due to no tea bags or tea leaves in the pot it self. Service is extremely SLOW. If you go in, prepare to sit there for awhile before someone comes to your table. It appears that no one really cares to peak their head out from the kitchen to see if anyone is in their restaurant. I just feel that if this place don’t shape up and once Heung Rae Gak opens across the street; this place might see the end. Over all a decent place. I just feel bad for the owner having to do it in the location that it’s in. It seems no one really goes inside this part of the shopping mall. If you like Koreanish Chinese food, do give this place a try.

Got the $ 90 dollar combo for the family. My mother-in-law, father-in-law, 2 kids, wife and I went here for dinner. The combo included a shrimp dish, Mongolian Beef, Sweet and Sour Pork, Peanut Spicy Tofu, ending with Jajang mien. The food was descent, nothing to write home about. What struck me was how small the quantities were. I ended up ordering extra Champong and Spicy Pork to get full. Was it worth the $ 140 meal? Probably not. Would do this place again? Maybe not.

I’m giving it two stars because food wasn’t horrendous but it wasn’t good either. Would I come back here again… Sadly no I would not. Would I be back if it was the last jjajangmyun place in a 60mile radius when having a craving… yea maybe. Jjajang myun had no flavor, I actually had to add soy sauce. My sis had jjamjamyun, she left the whole jjampong and had most of jjajang myun but she agreed with me; food no bueno. I’m Unilocaling now to find another jjajangmyun place to go tomorrow. Also service sucked, had to ask for water twice, got water half way thru our meal, had to ask for rice with a lunch special we got, didn’t even get the egg roll like others mentioned, and the jjajangmyun came like 20min after the entrée which is weird cuz usually the noodles always comes out first. And we were the only customers in there. I’m actually going to change my rating to 1star, I did not receive 2 star food or service.

The restaurant it self is clean. The service was super super slow, which I don’t get because we were the only customers there. It was kind of hard to get attention to order our food. I ordered Spicy Tofu from the lunch menu, no joke, it’s really spicy. My friend ordered Orange chicken lunch special and I thought it was a bit sweet. Comes with small eggroll and side dishes. Being hungry and waiting forever to order while there were at least 3 workers available really turns me off(especially when the restaurant was empty).

Best Jja jang myun in LA or OC. The sauce was nice and thick, not soupy and greasy like most places. At about $ 8, it’s a bit pricey but the portion is deceptively large and the quality is worth it. The Jjam pong or spicy seafood noodle soup was pretty good also, but nothing revolutionary. We also tried the sweet and sour pork which was slightly on the bready side, but the flavor was good. The restaurant is clean. It is a typical Korean Chinese type place so not the kind of Chinese you’d get at Panda Express. When we were there, the owner lady was really friendly and sweet to my kids. It’s located at the back part of the small indoor mall with Paris Baguette. Again, a little more pricey than food court jja hang myun, but this is the way it’s supposed to taste, so worth the extra $.

It’s located in the same plaza as Paris Baguette along with a bunch of other fobby clothing/make-up/jewelry places. First impression — the establishment is pretty big. High ceilings, some whimsical décor like Chinese hats with a fake braid attached on the back… I got half and half Jja-jang myun(Black bean sauced noodles) and Jjam-bohng(spicy seafood soup). I’m not really the type that craves this stuff but dang, it was pretty good! I realized my «chopstick muscles» in my hand had weakened since I’ve been living in an area where Asian food isn’t on every corner. I’d recommend asking for a pair of scissors to cut up the noodles. I tried my friend’s Tang-soo-yook(breaded and friend pork/beef depending on which you specify) and thought the breading was a bit much but then again I’m not a huge fan of it in the first place. I definitely appreciate the super clean bathroom(behind the pretty crackled glass furniture) even if the hot pink filigree light switch covers completely don’t match haha
