Update — 5÷12÷13 They appear to be CLOSED according to the scratch paper on the window(you really couldn’t afford a «CLOSED» sign?) I’m hoping its temporary, because we really became fans. I began to have concerns as they failed to put a real sign up and they never added more tables or wall decoration to a very open/large space after approximately 6 months. Makes me feel like they just didn’t know what they were getting into from a financial standpoint.

We stopped in to Scrambled Café on the recommendation of a friend. The first problem is that it’s really easy to drive right past this place. I thought I was just distracted, but when we arrived, the owner was on the phone giving directions to another person who had called in because they missed it as well. The bottom line on this place is that it’s utterly forgettable. The food is marginal, the prices aren’t particularly low, the atmosphere is kind of like a cafeteria and service was underwhelming. For the money, there are plenty of other places in the area I will go before heading back to Scrambled Café.

Well, I’m waiting! As I do not like to eat in an atmosphere of «high school cafeteria», I will see if this restaurant finally makes its presence permanent by decorating and putting up a sign — not a vinyl banner. The reviews say the food is great — I just prefer to spend my money in a place with pleasant surroundings. Can’t imagine what the hold-up is(?) Just tried Honeyberry Café in Arlington, and it is really enjoyable. Scrambled, do you need a decorator? Will come as soon as it’s done!

It seems that this new place has been a work in process for about 5 months now, and it still needs some work. The food is pretty good, the portions can be enormous — like Omelette’s that come with hash browns AND pancakes. However, service can be chaotic since they seem understaffed — on the weekday we were there at 12:30, some tables walked out for lack of initial service. I’m not sure they will make it, but if they do it’s worth a visit — but call first.

Had breakfast here on Saturday. Waited about 10 minutes to be seated as they were very busy and there didn’t seem to be any busboys. Our waitress was dazed and confused, obvious this was her first job as a waitress and they were very short on staff. That being said, both hubby and I thought the food was excellent at a reasonable price. We will give this place another try

Dropped in value and quality. Food has declined… I have been back several times and am disappointed that things are looking down. Service has been slow(even when I was one of TWO customers!!). The food quality is down and the lack of attention to detail is showing. The pancakes I got were very dry, smaller than usual and served only with sugar-free syrup(which I hate). Coffee refills are very slow and coffee is bitterish. Only sugar and Sweet-n-lo were available(sweet-n-lo… seriously???) Owner is showing definite signs of giving up…

This new restaurant is coming around. The food is good and the service is friendly and fast. The owner George and his wife are pretty nice and greet you as you walk in and talk to you about your food to check to see if you are happy. Nice size meals I’ve seen so far. Heard pretty soon they will get more seating and a sign for the outside. BTW, THEYHAVE A BIGMENU.

I seen a groupon for this place and unfortunately that was sold out but thought we would go there anyway and found the breakfast food was good, service was good. It does need some pictures, curtains or something on the windows even painted flowers or something that some restaurants have to make it feel less cafeteria like, and from posts looks like its been open 6months but only has a vinyl banner outside for the name which makes it feel temporary. But it wil look a lot better if they decorate a little. Maybe some old black and white pictures of he area? But food was good

I snagged a Groupon for Scrambled Café after seeing it had a really good rating on Unilocal.Since then, the rating has gone down… which I can totally understand. Service was quick and attentive. The food was pretty good, so that got Scrambled to its 3 star rating but the atmosphere was totally lacking. Scrambled is just a big empty room with bare beige walls. There is no décor at all, no music, no ambiance. I felt a bit out of place here, They seemed like they opened before they finished doing work on the place. They do not even have a real sign up yet. This place has a lot of work to do if they want to stick around.

DONOTGOTOTHISRESTAURANT The food, service, and ambiance was awful. The blintzes I ordered were burned and the cheese filling, wasn’t stuffed inside it was slopped over the top. The filling was more of a white sauce with cottage cheese chunks. The server seemed pissed that I returned the pile of slop she served me and ignored my request to see the manager. The restaurant is a bunch of tables in an abandoned banquet hall, there is no ambiance at all it seems like the owner is trying to cut costs and has no respect for its patrons… DONOTGOTOTHISRESTAURANT!!!

We came here on a Saturday afternoon for some late breakfast/early lunch. The best way to describe the atmosphere at this place is that you feel like you are eating at a high school cafeteria. With no decorations, blinds, or anything else for that matter, there is absolutely nothing to look at. It’s a huge space, but I would say it is less than 50% filled with tables and chairs. It’s def a good place to rent out for a private party, but I doubt they do that. They don’t even have a real sign up on the front of the building; just a big piece of paper that says«Scrambled Café». My family went to Scrambled the very next day and they told me there is no room to change a baby, so keep that in mind. Regardless of what may or may not be inside, this place deserves 4 stars because the food is delicious! Our waitress was good, but the owner, I presume, was even better and had greeted us and was walking around the restaurant making sure everything is good with the customers. I’ve never had a Tuna Melt before, but I had a sudden craving for it and it was just as good as I expected it to be. It came with a very tasty and huge bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup. Scrambled is really close to my boyfriend’s house, so I know we will be back when we are going to be too lazy to make our own food.

Came here because my friend and I are big fans of Elly’s and thought this would be comprable. I guess it is, but we didn’t eat anything that showed itself off. We shared cinnamon french toast and strawberry waffles. Both were good and came out quickly — which is just the thing… sometimes when your food comes out so fast, you think it’s so effortless and not worth your money. Yes, when I make french toast and waffles at home, it doesn’t taste as good. However, I was not wowed by either. Not sure how long they’ve been around, but they could start investing in their décor and exterior sign — a lot of potential there!

Go here! It’s still kind of hidden so you won’t run into the ridiculous wait times of Walker Bros or other diners. Comparable food to Elly’s, Rise n Dine, or Granny’s. Friendly staff, quick food, and I love that the owner makes an effort to be there. I hope Scrambled stays around — they just need an actual sign so people know they’re there. And don’t be put off by the weird ambience inside. I’m guessing they’re working on the décor. The emptiness is better than tacky crap though!

We ate on a Sunday morning, the food is average. Typical breakfast food adequately prepared. Nothing was outstanding, the bacon was limp, and even though the menu lists egg beaters they did not have them. Being new, the décor is bare walls, bare floor, not even a picture. The service was slow, seemingly overwhelmed by the rush, and did not bring at all everything we had ordered. The milk was not cold but served room temperature, the orange juice was listed as fresh squeezed but not by them, it was purchased. Probably will not go back.

Such a great new restaurant. My family has gone a few times now and they really show appreciation for their customers and genuinely want you to be there. The food is outstanding as well and the portions are very generous We will definitely be back and it will probably become a weekly staple

I really want to love this place, and I think I will one day. For now, they are«incomplete». Walking in on a Sunday afternoon is a bit like organized chaos. There’s no clear waiting area and tables are quite spread out. Also, there are no chairs near the entrance for people who are waiting. There was one lady behind the counter taking names, closing checks, and answering the phone(she handled it well). The waitresses were constantly walking between the crowd and behind the counter to get to the tables on the other side. The restaurant isn’t quite finished yet either. There is space for at least 10 – 20 more tables and a lot of the condiments and coffee are kind of tucked away and lined up in various corners. The walls are painted nicely but otherwise bare. As far as the food goes, everything was quite tasty. I went with a combo of eggs, pancakes, bacon, and sausage with a glass of juice and a cup of coffee. I figure these are items that every respectable breakfast joint should do well. The orange juice I got had a funny aftertaste and the cold juice came in a somewhat warm, freshly cleaned glass. Cold juice and warm glasses don’t mix. The coffee was fine. I ordered the eggs over-medium, but they definitely came out over very easy. The bacon was skinny and could have been a bit crisper, but that’s a personal preference. The sausage wasn’t your standard breakfast sausage and was quite big. The pancakes were light and fluffy and fragrant and sweet. Overall, everything was pretty tasty with just a few things that could use some adjustments. Food came out fast and my coffee mug was always full. The service was efficient and friendly, and the owner was thanking everyone who came and went. I plan to come back here and hopefully update my review for the better in a couple months. Scrambled café is definitely a place to watch out for and I have high hopes for their success.

Finally a great breakfast restaurant in my area. Pros. 1. Great portions 2. Quality food(not like Denny’s cheap stuff) 3. Very competitively priced Cons. 1. None I had the special club #2, three eggs, two bacon, two sausage links, hash browns, toast, and an orange juice. For $ 7.79! They have earned my repeat business.

Scrambled Café is a good addition to the Buffalo Grove area. Most of the similar restaurants in the area that serve breakfast are extremely busy during the weekend morning hours so it is nice to have another choice that cooks well without a 30 minute wait. The food is of similar price, quality, and size to other choices like Original Granny’s and Rise ‘n Dine. The major difference is that this food is prepared with less«extras»(sauce, powdered sugar, etc.) than other restaurants. This is good if you are calorie conscious or prefer simpler flavors. The texture was also good on all the items I tried, crispy when it’s supposed to be crispy, fluffy for fluffy items. These are the items I tried: Chicken noodle soup: Done well, the broth wasn’t too heavy and there was an appropriate amount of noodles, vegetables, and chicken. Pecan crepes: The pecans were crispy, the crêpe was crispy on the side. The flavor was alright although I would’ve preferred more flour and less eggs. Pancakes: About average. Meat lover’s skillet: The right amount of meat to eggs to cheese ratio. Many times restaurants put too much cheese or have to much fat content in the skillet, but this was a good mix. Corned beef hash: The hash itself had about the right amount of salt and was crispy on the sides. The hash browns and eggs were about average, a little extra seasoning could’ve made these better. Chicken panini: Good taste and mix of textures. The fruit choice with melons is a wise choice for both color and providing a refreshing contrast. For me, the good price, quick service, and lighter fare make this an interesting choice for a future visit soon.

I’m giving 4 stars because the interior isn’t quite complete — they are working on it! Everything is clean and decorated well so far, though. I came here for lunch with my five year old and ordered the feta scrambler — delicious. My daughter’s mickey mouse pancake was very reasonably priced, which I love when dealing with kids who may or may not eat all their food. My daughter said she loved it and wanted me to be sure to bring back my other two kids. We look forward to a weekend breakfast place that isn’t Walker Brothers(too too expensive for regular visits!) or IHOP(bleh.).

This place just opened up about a week ago. It is a café that is open for breakfast and lunch. The inside is nice and spacious. The big windows let in a lot of light which is nice. There are no booths, only tables and chairs. Currently, decorations are sparse. I don’t know if they just haven’t gotten around to it yet or if they are going for a simplistic look. There is nothing screening your view from the serving stations either, which might just be because they haven’t built them yet, but I actually like it because it makes everything feel more open. The service was good and the staff was attentive and kind. Food: As far as the food goes, they are currently doing a «soft opening», meaning the full menu is not yet available. The food offered was mostly the standard breakfast/lunch fair, with a few oddities thrown in. One example is the avocado stuffed with a tuna mixture. Sounds interesting! My party wound up just getting the regular stuff: eggs, ham, hashbrowns, toast, and banana waffles. The ham was nice and tender, not over cooked and dry like some places. Everything else was fairly standard. Overall, I’m sure I will stop by again sometime and maybe order something a little more out of the ordinary.
