This is Buffalo’s only locally-owned video store and one of only 150 left in the USA& Canada. We are very lucky to have it. The store has DVDs and VHSs, everything from classics to new releases. There’s a white board on the wall listing the most popular rentals. It’s a great place to find something you can’t stream on Netflix. It also give you the opportunity to browse the whole selection and find things outside what has been«recommended» for you, which is one of the reasons I love bookstores. The owner is very friendly and quite an interesting guy and worth chatting with. The store has been there 28 years. I’ve been driving past it for well over a decade and this was my first time in. At first the place seems very no frills, but once you start chatting with the proprietor, it becomes quite charming. Rentals are $ 2.99 for 4 days. New releases are 2 days. Late fees are $ 1 a day(less than the library) but the owner says they’re pretty flexible about it — just bring the movie back. There’s a 24 hr drop box. While everything is entered into a computer, there’s also a little basket of paper slips from inside the movie cases that appear to have the rental history, like your childhood school library. The discs and cassettes are all behind the counter and labeled by hand in different colors. For folks who don’t often venture into South Buffalo, you should come visit and support this rare gem.
