I am at home Ill with the flu and ordered chicken noodle soup with white rice. The woman refused to deliver and would rather me take my business elsewhere. So I am. Would not even give one star if I had the option.

Really good food. The teriyaki chicken was great and the won ton soup is so good. Also the dumplings are awesome.

As far as Chinese places go this one is pretty good fast service and cheap only 3.99 for the general tso’s lunch special that I had.

Love this place! The owner is a sassy lady, really love her. This place is cash only(they have an atm but be prepared) — she waits for no one. Go for lunch. Most combos are the same size as dinner portions for less than $ 4!!! I’ve had many great meals from this place. My only critique(and this is really no big deal ATALL) is that they don’t have those wooden chopsticks haha

I cannot give this restaurant more than 2 stars. I love their food, but they do not accept credit or debit card.

I would give 4 stars but they don’t take plastic. Consistent good food from your typical neighborhood Chinese takeout joint. My fave is the black pepper chicken and the egg rolls are considerably above average. I love egg rolls but I skip them at most Chinese joints because they usually don’t fill them nearly enough or they overcook them, or they are grease bombs. Not so at Hong Kong Kitchen. They are always plump and very good. One time I ordered three and ate them bing bang boom as I was hankering an excellent egg roll. My g/f usually gets beef lo mein and finishes it the next day. She loves crab Rangoons and says theirs are awesome. They use the deep fryer properly at Hong Kong Kitchen. The lady who seems to always be at the counter and on the phone can seem a little rude at times because she is always in a hurry constantly running her tail off. She is actually quite nice. I once asked her how she was and you should have seen her face light up as if no one had asked before. If you never worked in a restaurant you can barely imagine what kitchen help goes through, so keep that in mind before you leave snarky pissy comments that can’t be removed.

I live in the neighborhood and have been ordering from this location at least once a week for around ten years now, mainly because of the owner but also because the food is VERY good! If you think she is mean, just try being nice when you pick up you order and before long she will be as nice as can be to you. It just takes her awhile to warm up to you. Being a regular will also get you a nice conversation when you go in to pick up your order. After reading the other reviews about Hong Kong, I am disappointed that everyone has something negative to say about my friend, who we lovingly call«hat lady». To those not familiar with her, she might be short but this is just her personality. Once you get to know her(and tip for her hard workers!!) she is a VERY nice and caring woman. I think of the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld when I hear that she is rude or grouchy, but to me that is just part of the charm of this place… which BTW, stays very busy. When I call, she says«the usual my friend?» and will recite what I am going to order: Two egg rolls(always huge and flavorful), Chicken on the stick app(for my dog) Quart of Chicken Rice Soup, Pepper Chicken and Mongolian Beef. The $ 1.50 option to upgrade to lo mein is a nice alternative to the rice as the lo mein is always fresh and tasty. If you notice on the menu there is a coupon for an extra egg roll or soda, but if you order as I do above. she will throw in an extra soda or egg roll… just tell her you have the coupon when ordering. I am always satisfied with the food quality and quantity and never in ten years have any of my orders been incorrect. For someone to remember what I order every time, just from memory is impressive to me. While waiting for my food, I notice she does the same to many regulars who call in their order… and yes, just because she might know you as a regular, she will still take your order rapidly. That is just her way of working… VERY efficient! So please, put aside the fact that she might be ‘gruff’, just have your order ready as she knows her menu like no other order taking worker anywhere and remember that she will take your order VERY quickly! She prefers that you order by the number on the menu… just remember to specify if the menu item comes in either chicken or beef. I do highly recommend Hong Kong Kitchen for their fantastic food… freshness and taste of their ingredients. Don’t take ‘Hat Lady’s’ demeanor personally, it is part of the place and remember that she is just very busy and usually does not have time to go back and forth with her callers.

It’s your typical 10 minute Chinese food takeout. If you’re expecting more you’ll be disappointed. So if your in a pinch, low on $, or just have a craving and you’re in the area, this isn’t a bad option.

Ordered here 2 times so far with both times being out of necessity. The 1st time I ordered was on Columbus day and surprisingly my favorite place was closed, so I ordered from these guys because they’re also close to home and work. I ordered Sczchuan chicken and was 50⁄50 on whether or not I liked it. The dish has a lot of zest and actually made me sweat because of the warmth but oddly the chicken tasted bland. The vegetables were the best part and were fresh and tasty. Even the baby corns tasted buttery. I was disappointed also in the yellow squishy rice that sort of reminded me of canned baby food. Overall I’d say it’s was a 3 and I was hungry and my favorite place was closed. The 2nd time I ordered, I was working alone and couldn’t really stray from the office. These guys deliver so I figured I’d try again. I ordered General Tso’s chicken and am very disappointed. The entire dish tastes like one of those Wegman’s Chinese Food Lean Cuisine things where you thaw it all out and squeeze the pack of «general tso’s» sauce on it. Maybe it’s just because it’s different cuisine than my favorite place. I know certain places cook in certain styles. But to me, it’s just bland and meh. The rice wasn’t cooked enough and was hard(I got white rice this time) All in all, there are better places around here. Both times I ordered were because of circumstance and I probably will order again to try more things, It’s not terrible, just pretty average.

The food is good and tasy. I called for delivery and the woman on the phone was rude for no reason. The good thing is the food came quickly. The delivery guy said he was calling me & waiting for 15 min yet I received no missed calls on my phone so I’m not sure how true is that . Also, make sure to tell them to put utensils, napkin & ketchup if you need it because non of that came with my order. I didn’t expect much from a place like this so I am okay with it for the price.

My family has ordered exclusively from this place since I was very young, so I’ve always thought it was the best take-out Chinese food around. I do want to note, however, that the lady with all the pins in her hat is really mean. So if you can handle being yelled at when you ask for a total or told to «hold on!» While she yells at her co-workers, then this is the place for you!

Very bland. Least flavorful Chinese I’ve had. Tried the sesame chicken and the pepper steak. Both were average at best. Barely any sauce on chicken. Most likely will not order from here again.

Good food and great lunch specials plus free delivery. over $ 10 order. The lady is not mean as she sounds, she’s actually very nice & funny too. Go there or kid with her or on the phone when you order, you’ll see.

Ordered from here the other night. As the two previous reviews say the food is pretty average but since its one of the only places in South Buffalo, it will do. We ordered basic stuff, Sweet and Sour Chicken, which wasn’t crisp and started to be a bit soggy by the time I got it home from pick-up. Also Pork Fried Rice, which was pretty fresh and not greasy like some can be but still a bit bland. Bean Curd w/Vegetables which was actually one of the better dishes. Veggies were cooked to be fresh and crisp. Wonton Egg Drop soup was tasty with big wontons. And Shrimp Egg Rolls were fine. Got the large size of everything w/2 egg rolls and it was all less than $ 20. So for the price I can’t complain. Would definitely order from here again and see what else may be good. I bet you could search the menu and find some things that are better than others to stick with.

This Chinese food is merely adequate. There aren’t too many Chinese places that deliver in South Buffalo, though, so… Any port in a storm, right? The woman that answers the phone and takes my order here seems to be in a permanent state of impatient anger. You might get the impression that she hates you, but I think irrational hostility might just be her default setting. Although, one time, she did try to kill me by sending me an order of Shrimp & Broccoli instead of Beef & Broccoli, and then she seemed extra mad when I called to ask for the correct food instead of just eating it and going into anaphylactic shock due to my seafood allergy, adding that I had definitely ordered shrimp during my initial call. She did send the correct dish out to me, though. Scary lady aside, the delivery is fast, the food is hot, the cost is low, and its deliciousness can be proportional to the amount of alcohol you consume. Give them a try if you want Chinese food without leaving the house, but do what I do now and con your significant other into phoning the order in.

We got delivery on a Sunday night after a Bills game. Delivery took about 45 minutes. Food was good, hit the spot for a couple of weary travelers, but nothing special.
