It’s really a shame that there are not more reviews for CEPA. I initially knew of CEPA– a few summers back(pushing about 8 years now). I signed up for a black and white film class offered for students over the summer. It was a great experience– we were given a disposable camera and told to shoot all over the city. We were taught the basics of photography: we learned how to develop, use enlargers, and got to see our final prints. It was a great experience! The gallery located downstairs is also a great place to check out current work that photographers are producing.

I love this place. Ive always heard about it when I was younger, and told myself one day I will intern here. Walah, am now here interning here. I started in mid January, and still going. This is an environment that makes me feel comfortable, because the people are very friendly and welcoming. I started out working as an assistant at the office, then helping out setting up installations for exhibitions. One of the exhibitions, I actually got to put my work in. Then I started shadowing doing the«writing with light» with one of the teachers there. It is definitely a great experience, the kids are very exciting to work with and they are eager to learn. Photography is a very awesome, and there is so much to learn. Like for example, Pin Hole, Photogram, digital photography, film, just a few that we did here at CEPA. There is a darkroom, and a computer lab that is accessible to anyone who wants to come in. However, there is a charge but it is not that expensive. There is also a gallery, where everyone is welcomed to come and take a look at all the new pieces that are put in there. If you love photography, and love going to galleries then this is a place you need to go and check out.
