I decided to break out of my usually defined lunch option radius today. This was my first visit to the bakery/sandwich shop. Upon entering, I enjoyed the wafting aroma of fresh bread. The menu offers the usual WNY assortment of subs. I ordered small turkey club sub with a side of potato salad to go. My order was expedited In a prompt manner which was good considering the extra drive time. When I returned to office, I realized I was given the wrong sub. In the interest of hunger & time, I didn’t go back. In general this particular sub was quite light in substance. I guess it’s all about the bread. I can say I’m one and done with this lunch venue.

Love the rolls here, but I’ve been there a few times and they’ve run out of rolls. Pretty silly.

My father ordered 3 dozen rolls to make a big Buffalo meal with beef on weck for my sister’s in-laws, who traveled across the state for her wedding shower. I ran into heavy traffic driving there from the shower and though I arrived just 4 minutes after they officially closed, the clerk said she couldn’t do anything. I pleaded and explained we had family in town and my dad had placed an order, but still, there was nothing she could do. She told me Tops and Wegman’s carry their rolls, except she failed to mention those stores only carry the white rolls(I love out of the area now; the baker at Wegman’s was polite and patient enough to explain why kimmelweck rolls aren’t packaged). After four trips to four different supermarkets, we were able to scrounge up enough rolls for dinner, but some of us missed out on family activities to make those trips. I absolutely should have been there on time, but it was still very disappointing that a local business couldn’t be bothered to help out a customer, and even more disappointing that the clerk seemed more concerned with getting out of there than taking a moment to ask what we had ordered and offer some advice on where we might be able to find a substitute.

I had a burger at Taffys and I’m thinking that bun came from here so I went and ordered a bunch to bring back to St Louis with me, unfortunately a few of them won’t make it back because I broke into them in the car.

After passing by this place oh, probably 1,000 times and never stopping, yes… I stopped. Not just because my friend works for Costanzo’s, but because every great /fast sandwich shop in WNY gets their rolls here or they make their own. I had a roast beef sub tonight and for being a «bread factory», they sure did it right when they put the sandwich shop in the front. From gourmet grilled cheeses to soups and everything in between. I even met a real«Newman» that works there!(sorry for the Seinfeld reference, yeah… I went there) The rolls are really top notch. I will stop again when in need for something one the fly.

I must be honest just stopped bye here and ordered a sub from the shop, everyone I’ve talked to spoken highly of their subs. They were right they’re are smoking, rolls are super fresh melt in your mouth never had 1 prepared like it ever and I love their rolls. Service was quick with a full café of patrons even handed it to me instead of putting on a counter. Next time I pass bye I’ll definitely stop it’s a treat!

George Costanzo from Seinfeld actually owns this place. He bakes the bread himself. When his bakery assistant says«the restaurant called, they’ve run out of our rolls», he yells«oh yeah, well the Jerk Store called and they’re out of YOU!» I’m actually serious. It’s $ 11 for a roll here, and you have to speak Spanish to buy them. Hence they are called«Costonze» as in Onze Dolares. Seriously though a lot of my favourite sandwiches in WNY are made using these rolls. They are by far the best rolls in the region and most people agree. Bailey Seafood is the ultimate example. They really make those sandwiches, and those are the best sandwiches I’ve ever had — fish sandwiches anyway. Long live George Costanza. I wonder if Jerry is going to open up a magician’s store now? He can call it «Jerry’s Hat Tricks.» I’m sure it will entertain older folks.

We try to stop here every once in a while while in the area. The products are great! I have some major negatives. With the lack of personality from the staff, I rather go somewhere else. Some staff members seem to want to be somewhere else than here. Here is a recommendation to the owners – get better staff members WITH personality. Also, being in today’s market, who doesn’t accept credit cards? I will not spend upwards of $ 3 to withdrawn cash from an ATM. How many people carry cash? How do you survive without being customer-oriented? The owners really need to step up their game. Long lines, with staff who could really care less, and not accepting credit cards… I will go elsewhere! Don’t see this business surviving long term since this business doesn’t cater to the younger crowds of the population.

THEROLLS… THEROLLS! known for its freshest bread. This place gets so busy on all holidays that they hire road services to control the traffic and tents for the waiting lines. It’s one amazing Bakery that no other place can compare. They have a deli inside too if you want sandwiches, also very good. I think that the bread is backed in some oven stolen from the Gods. Lol

I can’t really add anything original to supplement what other folks have said. However, I can say that Costanzo’s has some outstanding rolls and other breads. One piece of information that you ought to know about. We ordered 12 dozen small dinner rolls for a church dinner, to pick up a week later. They offered the rolls unsliced(as they are in the racks for walk-in orders) or sliced. I ordered them sliced because I knew that spending time slicing rolls would take away from the time we had for other work for the dinner. The best part of the deal? No extra charge for slicing the rolls. And at $ 3.95 per dozen, it is a great price. The rolls were a hit at the dinner, by the way. If you want good bread, you need to stop here.

There’s nothing quite like a super-fresh Costanzo’s roll! It’s always special to stop into the actual bakery when tooling around and realizing you’re so close, you have to pop in and pick up some rolls. Customer service at the bakery has almost always been adequate, but personality-less, a definite loss of star. Earlier this summer, I placed an order for the Fourth of July holiday. They kindly asked if I’d like the rolls sliced, and wow! what a timesaver that was. On the day of the party, I picked up the rolls in a heartbeat, all fresh and ready in plastic baggies. On the downside, the rolls are laden with sodium, a definite negative, and the rolls are pretty low on the nutritional scale. But, oh well, sometimes ya gotta splurge.

I came here on a Friday at 12:30 to meet my mom on her lunch break. We just wanted something simple and quick to enjoy on their patio while chatting. I honestly thought we would be in and out of here quite fast given their small sandwich/sub menu. We ordered two of their 8″ sandwiches. My mom got the spinach and cheese sandwich and I ordered a turkey sandwich with some veggies. We also got one combo which came with chips and a drink. The total for all was $ 18 something. After ordering and filling up our beverage we waited… and waited… and waited. Then finally TWENTY minutes later received our food. Luckily we weren’t in a huge rush; however waiting twenty minutes for two small sandwiches(neither which had anything hot nor any ingredients that needed to be cooked on them) is just unacceptable. The sandwiches were satisfactory, and the outdoor patio which we enjoyed them on was decent. I probably won’t return to dine in though just because of the wait. On the other hand, my family has been a customer for years, purchasing rolls for parties of all kinds. If you are in a hurry and/or on a lunch break, I would advise to call ahead and place your order before arriving.

This is as good as it get’s Buffalo(at least bread wise)! If you are having a cookout, friends from out of town or just want to have an awesome balance to any sandwich, a trip to Costanzo’s is a must! They sell their products at a lot of places around buffalo, and apparently even nationally! I grew up on these and now have started making the trip out to Cheektowaga to indulge on some carb goodness! The buns are super soft, and once you try them, you won’t go back! Truly an experience, and if you are one that says the bun doesn’t matter… Get out of the kitchen, and go down to Costanzo’s, you won’t be disappointed!

I wrote the previous review and I wish to update it. Costanzo’s has the best rolls in town, however they won’t work with the community. I’m involved with a number of charitable organizations and we’ve asked for donations only to be told that the letters of request never arrived in time. Repeatedly. Anyone who shops here knows that every day a full dumpster load of rolls and bread are thrown away. We are talking hundreds of pounds of bread, every day, in the garbage. When asked«why the waste», Costanzo’s elects not to compromise their product. People go hungry in this economic depression and we have food manufacturers throwing product away. Good product — HORRIBLEMANAGEMENTANDLACKOFCOMMUNITYINVOLVEMENT. Go elsewhere. Petrillo’s of Rochester(available at Market in the Square) is just as good. I don’t work for either of these establishments but I’m really down on Costanzo’s right now.
