Aside from me being super sick this day which totally made me appear antisocial … I had an awesome time at this event! I have eaten Allen St Poutine Co before but only as take out so it was first actual time seeing the inside of the place. It was awesome! I love the second floor seating option, all the signs and lighting, décor, and especially the marker wall. It reminded me of the unique ambience of Melt Bar&Grilled in Cleveland, Ohio minus the Easter Bunny, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and Christmas decorations. We got the chance to go back into the kitchen and saw the process of what goes into making the infamous Poutine fries. The owner, Jake, was explaining to us the steps and allowed anyone that wanted to try cutting a potato to do so. He was super cool throughout the entire event, and definitely a very down to earth guy. He genuinely cares about producing quality food and his customers experiences. Our lovely server Alex handed me a bowl of special Chicken Quesadilla Poutine fries. Although not quite a spicy fan or quesadilla fan myself — the Poutine fries were bomb! The chicken was perfectly cooked, cheese curds and gravy to die for and just the right mixture of ingredients. Winning flavor in my book. We also were passed out a trio of beers to try to see which paired with the quesadilla Poutine the best. I voted for the lighter beer,(organic I think?) it was surprisingly good for me not being a beer drinker. Jake gave us all some Canadian trivia. It was fun and interactive. However I didn’t know a thing, even forgot what a Toonie was called lol. As always, thank you Alex for giving me the opportunity to be part of this amazing event! And Foxy Fox, you did a great job as a fill in photographer ;)
