Hector’s was, apparently, the first of the gang with a gun in his hand, and the first to do time. And if you want hardware, I will show you some hardware. What do you mean, you’re already hard? Where? I had to fix my porch door, and this place were extremely helpful! Not the cheapest prices in the world, but then nothing is these days. They were reasonably and friendly and I don’t really have any negatives whatsoever. Since that job(which was in September), I’ve recommended Hector’s to two or three different people. If you have any home improvement type stuff to do, as much as Home Depot and Loews get all the press, Hector’s is my tip for your best bet.

I often write favorable reviews, but a recent experience needs to be told. I will not be shopping at Hector’s again. I went to the store for brackets, but saw and purchased a reconditioned Weber grill at the end of the season, 2014. We used it for the first time this Memorial Day. I was told it had been traded in on a newer model, and had been gone over carefully, to replace any worn or broken parts. It was compared to a Certified Used Car. When we turned it on, the temperature wouldn’t rise above 200 degrees. I called the store, and was initially told that they don’t sell used grills. When I persisted, despite being told they would call me back, nobody did. When I called again, and finally spoke to the owner, I was first told that reconditioned grills were sold«as is».(I paid $ 200, and my receipt said nothing about that). Finally, I was told someone would come out, but I would be charged for parts(parts that were broken when I bought it!). A young man came(he was great, and I tipped him for his trouble). The owner apparently knew from my description what the problem was, since the name of the part was written on the work order). The young man said that as soon as he turned the grill on, propane was spewing out(so that was my loss, too!). I have patronized this store for years, and am very disappointed at the owner’s handling of the situation. Word of mouth is the best advertising. I’ll be telling the story, and shopping elsewhere.

Hector’s Hardware is a neighborhood jewel. In some ways, it’s like going back in time, entering the store, it smells just like my childhood hardware store where dad and I went every Saturday morning. There is usually a friendly banter going on, between employees and /or employees and customers. There is always someone there to help you if you need it, whether you’re a do-it-yourselfer or not. I’ve gone in with a plumbing part, saying I need one of these and the helpers know just where to go, without missing a beat. You need ant killer, gloves, a bag of garden soil, nuts, bolts, a grill, a snowblower? They have it! We get our Toro lawnmower tuned up at Hector’s and it always looks and works terrific. They’ve repaired our screens and sold us a great sump pump, and recommended tips and hints for whatever household fix-it conundrum ails us. They have surprisingly competitive prices, too. Friendly, helpful customer service is absolutely remarkable at this Hector’s, hope they are always a part of the neighborhood. We just love our Hector’s Hardware.

Their customer service is the BEST. The employees are knowledgeable and the service is the awesome. We’ll never go to Lowes again.
