I came by here after visiting the Science Museum for the Mummies exhibit. This is a very nice park. It too was designed by Olmstead and originally called Humbolt Park. It was renamed in 1977. Sadly the park was partially destroyed to build the Kensington Expressway. Prior to that it was connected to Delaware Park. IN recent years the park has had some much needed renovation. The wading po0l is back in use and there is skating in the winter when the weather allows. The park does have the typical basketball courts, tennis courts and playgrounds one expects. There are nice picnic tables and plenty of shade. This is a park to think about as you plan a trip to the Science Museum. weather permitting, its a nice outdoor space with easy parking and well managed grounds.

Back during my college days, I planted a tree here as part of volunteer hours that I received for streaking through the quad*. I even met the mayor that day. Little did I know, this was a supposed«dangerous» park. I guess that’s why they send all the delinquents here to plant trees. Perhaps they hoped I would be «accidentally» eliminated. If I knew that, I may have considered getting a life insurance policy before coming out here. But alas, I survived and here I am to write my Unilocal reviews. See, everything works out in life. This park is large. It was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted as part of our system of inter-connected parks. The same guy that designed Central Park in NYC + the Boston park system. It actually used to be connected to Delaware Park, but the construction of the highway separated this park(oops!). I don’t venture in this area too often as Delaware Park is closer. The last time I was near this part of town was when I went to Scharf’s, but even that restaurant moved out of the area. I don’t have much experience here, but thought I’d at least add the park to Unilocal.I hope the tree that I planted is still there. *I kid. I actually wanted to spend my Saturday morning planting trees.
