The perfect place to go for a Bloody Mary on Sunday, That is if you want to watch the bartender do shots with his friends/owner and be ignored. If you ever do get waited on its fun to have to wave down the bartender every time you want a drink due to the fact the bartender is standing with his back to you. Understandably he is tired from continually walking by your empty glasses and not noticing or offering you another drink,

A wonderful neighborhood bar. Wait staff snappy and they pour a great drink. Ask the bartender Kevin for some of their famous siracha pizza logs.

If you haven’t been to Q for a Bills game, you’re missing out! It’s a mixture of people that love the Bills and football and people that just like watching men in those tight pants! The owner, Mark, is always there in his bills gear ready to play the Shout song. And the bartenders definitely take good care of you! Free shots are given to everyone every time the Bills score! And the best part is there is a free buffet at half-time! Prepared in-house, the chef does a great job of mixing up the theme of the buffet — I’m torn between choosing the mac and cheese buffet and the taco/nacho buffet as my favorite so far. Gay people, straight people, males, females, drag queens… everyone is sharing the love with high-fives when the Bills score! So if you’re looking for a fun, welcoming atmosphere to watch the Buffalo Bills, I highly recommend heading down to Q!(Just don’t wear a Pats jersey ;-))

This is an excellent bar — very comfortable and enjoyable. Mark, the owner, is really friendly and personable. The other bartenders are mostly friendly and upbeat. There are often small events and celebrations — for instance I threw my best friend Tim his 50th Birthday party there and it was great! Many area theater personalities patronize the bar after performances or to socialize on other occasions. I highly recommend this bar for gay and gay friendly people.

I felt like Norm at Cheers… and it was my first time there. I’m embarrassed to admit my friend(a regular) and I spent upwards of 10 hours planted on the two middle stools at the bar one Sunday afternoonish/night(after the Perfetto Unilocal Elite Event, actually.) I couldn’t have torn myself away if I wanted to! It was one interesting person after the next. Laid back, inexpensive, and welcoming :)

Pros: Really friendly and fun clientele(predominantly gay men, maybe a few women every once in a while). These aren’t the kind of guys who look at you strange just because you’re a girl walking into their bar. Great bartenders who are attentive(they will quickly serve you even if you aren’t a cute gay guy — a problem I have had at some other gay bars!!). Really fun karaōke night on Tuesdays which brings in quite the fun-loving crowd. Cons: No tap beer. Limited beer selection. Which is fine — they know their client base: the lesbians like their beer, the guys generally like their top shelf liquor. Only one bathroom/stall for the ladies. When there are lots of women here(Pride weekend perhaps) this becomes a problem. Moral of the story: great, fun bar which focuses on its male clientele. Nothing wrong with that. Just simply means it isn’t the dream bar for me.

I always loved going to this place when I used to go out frequently. Sadly I haven’t been in a bit but I doubt much has changed. It has a super laid back atmosphere and never has a «we’re the hip crowd» vibe that some of the other bars on this end of Allen sometimes have. It manages to have all the good things about a dive/local bar(low key, super friendly bartenders, strong but low-priced drinks) without being scummy. It’s not exactly swank but it is always fairly clean and kept up. I think it gets a good mix of people(different ages, scenes, orientations, etc — you will run into everyone from 75 year old dudes who still say«Mary» — love it — to middle-aged college professors to young couples out for a night on the town) and despite being a very fem-looking girl I never felt out of place. I’ve partook in some drunken karaōke and LOTS of darts over the years, but my favorite thing to do is chill on the love seat with my bff and have a very drunken conversation about life(and compiment the ladies on their outfits as they enter/leave the restroom). This is neither the«hot» place or the last stop on the«I have to find someone to go home with train,» which weeds out a lot of drama and meat-marketing. They have a small patio for smoking but limited-to-no seating.

I went to Q Buffalo last night and I probably had one of the best times I’ve had since moving to Buffalo. I met many, many great people here. I think it has to do with Buffalo being such a friendly city. When I lived in San Francisco, it would be somewhat hard to meet people at a gay bar. Most people are at the SF bars with friends, and a lot of them could care less to talk with anyone else. But in Buffalo, I feel like I can talk with people and they would treat me like a new friend almost instantly. And it’s not hard to meet people at all. I met one person, and then that person introduced me to two or three more people, and talking with them, and more people showed up, and then I was introduced to those people. Let me just say that was a nice, refreshing experience. I felt so welcomed to Buffalo. This was a Tuesday night, which is also the Karaōke night. Let me just say, that it’s one of the best Karaōke bars I’ve been to. One, it wasn’t obnoxious, aka no extremely drunk people bothering and harrassing everyone. Two, the amount of songs they offered were incredible. I was able to sing Yaz, The Smiths, Erasure, and Wicked, where the KJ at Roxy’s had none of those bands. Three, the bartenders are super experienced, which is always a plus. Four, the price is right! Five, they’re open until 4 I think, or maybe it’s 5. That is astounding, where in San Francisco, last call is at 2! 2!!! All your karaōke joys have to end so quickly. :(But not at this place! You can sing to your hearts content all through the next early morning. I’d say it gets rather crowded around 11, but not uncomfortably so. I actually felt really comfortable there, whereas at Roxy’s I felt a little smothered. Perhaps it has to do with this being a gay bar, and Roxy’s caters more towards lesbians, which makes sense that I’d have more people to connect with and talk to at Q. After 1AM, it empties out rather quickly. About half the people were gone by 1, which is nice because that equals more chances to sing! But I was actually pretty songed out because I got to sing 4 songs last night, which was awesome by the way! I like how people actually turn and listen to you sing, whereas at Roxy’s every time I sang at their Wednesday Karaōke I felt like no one gave a care. I can’t blame that on Roxy’s of course, but it’s just nice to have an audience while doing karaōke is what I mean. :) I am most definitely a fan. I’m so utterly tempted to go back next Tuesday, but I’m going to try to resist. Going out every week is a sure way of blowing through your cash! :) But if I’m ever going to go to a bar or out to Karaōke it would most definitely be at Q on a Tuesday! :) Next time, hopefully I can talk my boyfriend into coming! :D
