Zip’s Pizza

People there are super inconsistent. One day you call and want to sub fries for garlic bread and they say «no problem but may have to charge a little extra.» I get that, fries are less expensive so you have to charge $.75 to make up for it. But then you call another day and get someone snippy who guarantees you that there is no way they would ever do that… but it’s the only way to get the tenders… so you have to pay for the fries weather you want them or not… canceled my order… went to Pizza Bella where they are happy to do somthing as simple as a subsitiue…

Jake, from State Farm, at 3 in the morning, who is this? What are you wearing, Jake from State Farm? Khakis. She sounds hideous. Well she’s a he, so. I have a much better idea of what to do at 3 in the morning… do up your coat! No seriously! Do up your coat, using this amazing invention… Zips! Open til 3am every night! Wow, I finally got to the point.
I had high hopes for Zip’s because the one on Hertel (aka Wise Guys Pizza), which is also open til 3am nightly, is one of the best places in town. Unfortunately this one is just not as good… the pizza doesn’t taste quite as good and nothing I’ve tried from here has been quite up to the standard. I think there is definitely different ownership because there is a difference in the quality. Although one thing that they did inherit from their namesakes is a bad attitude (some nights more than others).
It’s in an odd place for a late night spot, alongside a very quiet, dark, and creepy Riverside Park, with magnificent views on the other side of the park to the lights of downtown Buffalo at night. They never seem like they have too much business here, but if you’re around Riverside late at night and want some good food, and don’t want to drive to Hertel and get even better food (at the other Zip’s, aka Wise Guys), then give this one a try. They’re not particularly cheap but the food is good.
Buffalo has some of the best pizza in the world, by the way… but this place isn’t one of my faves.
