I just found out the place was shut down by the health department this a.m.

gentlemen always bring me to French restaurants. been to many french resturants in la, this is the overall best. Will be back for sure. had dinner there but can expect lunch would be equally great. even I am Chinese decent, spoiled by eating great Chinese food, the French restaurant like this always make me feel both french and Chinese food would win food oscar, acedemy award if we have one.

I love this place. The food, the attitude, the atmosphere — it’s a wonderful find in an otherwise plain shopping center. My greatest disappointment is that I’m not working(or living) in Burbank anymore so I don’t get here as much as I used to. I try to make it a meeting point whenever possible. Delicious and pleasant oasis.

We found this wonderful bistro on Bastille Day! It was great to walk-in, get a table and receive excellent service… sad they weren’t doing any celebrating but lucky for us! The best French food, worthy of any neighborhood! The FrOnion soup, beet salad, Twice cooked pork and Seabass were tremagnific! We used Unilocal offer 15% off. we will return and remember to save room for dessert.

Nice neighborhood restaurant. Very attentive staff, good food, good portions and cozy atmosphere, all at fair prices. My only suggestion for this place is to upgrade the wine selection and include more French wines. It was surprising to see a French restaurant serve mostly Californian wines, and not very interesting ones at that.

This is our favorite hidden restaurant in all of Los Angeles, no exaggeration. We have been to this place at least 5 times over the two years we’ve been in LA and it has some of the most authentic and delicious relaxed simple French food that we have ever had, and we have lived around NYC! Each time, the food has been consistently delicious. Despite its location in a strip mall, Bistro Provence’s «Locals Nite» Prix-Fixe menu cannot be beaten and changes every month or so, serving a soup, second course, main course(price varies by your choice of main course) and dessert, around $ 30-$ 45 for the whole thing. The service is wonderful and we never feel rushed. Lamb is consistently good, all of the soups we’ve had(tomato, corn, etc) have been wonderful, we tried a pork en croute(such a large portion and crispy pastry and juicy pork) the other evening and the steaks are always cooked precisely to order. The shrimp fradiavolo is wonderfully spicy(!) and the servers bid you goodbye, beaming. The wines are lovely, and if you have extra bottles in the house they will serve it to you with a smile. The bread comes fragrant and warm with butter. The large hung posters of the three jazz greats makes it feel welcoming and quirky, and the lighting is done romantically but you can bring your family or a group of friends for some laid-back chatting over the delicious food. We are genuinely heartbroken to receive email notification a month ago that they will be closing in late July and have been going there as much as we can before they close :(This is the restaurant we recommend our friends and family to go to whenever they visit Los Angeles and they will be sorely, sorely missed.

husbinator & i went here for an anniversary dinner based solely on the Unilocal reviews — we were happy that it was right across the street from the hotel we were staying at, courtesy of a family friend. y’all are right — wouldn’t have even noticed it tucked next to a giant Vons. we made reservations for an earlier dinner, and were cheerfully greeted. we were given the table of our choice, which was a delightful corner seat. service was consistently happy, attentive, and all recommendations were appreciated. the value for the four-course meal is SUPERB. the mushroom soup is soooo delicious, and nicely presented. the spinach salad with manchego and dates is a great combo, and has already been reproduced at home to great acclaim. lamb chops were perfectly done to request, and the bass in capers & lemon was tender and flavorful. also: yummy bread. thanks for the refills on that! we were encouraged to take our time and enjoy our meal and each others’ company, and never felt rushed. very welcoming, and we wish it were in our ‘hood so we could make it a more-often special occasion place. love that i am about to check the«classy» box under ambiance for a restaurant hidden in a strip mall. well done, Bistro Provence, we’ll be back!

This is the absolute best restaurant in Burbank and I would argue almost anywhere in LA. While it is in a strip mall, a short walk down from Vons, once you enter the restaurant, you feel like you are in a quaint bistro abroad. The service is top notch and if you are unsure of the wine choices, they will let you taste several before purchasing a glass or bottle. My husband and I have had the steaks(bistro and filet), as well as the farm raised chicken. The tomato goat cheese tart is to die for, as well as their desserts. We are in love with this place and come as often as we can. It is the best!

First time visit tonight. It’s presence in a strip mall was a little off-putting but on entering it was like going into a quaint bistro anywhere on earth. The owner’s hearty voice rang out«Welcome, take any table you would like!» It was 6:30, so there was still a lot of choice so we took one by the window. Bread came quickly and was tasty. A good bread is a good sign! I ordered escargot but was told the shipment they received today was bad, so no little snails for me. I ordered the mussels appetizer, which maybe was a better choice since they were plump and sweet, floating in a yummy broth with slices of sausage and other veggies. My wife got a beet dish which was awesome. My glass of white wine was fine, but at $ 9.50 I could have walked 100 steps to a nearby grocery store and bought a bottle for that. There is a fixed price multi-course that seems a good deal, but we chose to order our entrees off the menu. I ordered beef bourguignon. It was perfect. Tender beef, deep brown gravy, on top of mashed potatoes and admixed with carrots and mushrooms. Delicious. Madelyn had the bouillabaisse. The broth was exquisite, tomato-y, and all of the fish and shellfish additions were fresh and tasty. One of the better ones. For dessert we shared a apple tart with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. We sort of fought over it, that’s how good it was. The owner said they will make a cassoulet if you call a day in advance. The other diners were seasoned citizens primarily with a scattering of young’uns. There is a very nice bar wide enough to dine at and all of the staff are extremely attentive and friendly. The only poor choice was the restaurant’s position directly opposite a Jenny Craig store. You see that if you sit at a seat that faces the window! All told a great experience. We will return and try other items. The cesar salads at a table near us looked great. Try it, you’ll like it – and the bill with tip was under $ 100 for all of this. Mig, Exploring Burbank

Nice little place. Good food with decent enough service. In a weird location, it’s basically a really small space in a strip mall next to a Starbucks. If you are looking to impress a date, this location probably wouldn’t do the job. Too fancy for lunch(at least for me) and not a location that I would go to for dinner, so I don’t go here often, but when I have gone it has been good. Free parking which is a bonus in Los Angeles these days.

I’ve been to this gem a few times now and it’s consistent. It can be pricey for dinner but it’s a great value for lunch! The service is always great and it’s never too crowded(which I don’t understand for lunch). It’s next to a Starbucks in a little shopping center. I live right next to it and wouldn’t even think to try it unless someone else suggested it. While I was there for lunch last week they had a bouillabaisse special(I think it was $ 16) so I had to order it. It was very good. The shrimp and fish(I think it was bass) was cooked perfectly. However, the clams could have been better. I had one in there that wasn’t even open at all… I’ve also had the saffron seafood risotto and the seafood linguine. Both very good! Most of their dishes for lunch are around $ 15-$ 18, which is a great deal for the quality you’re getting! It’s also a nice change up from the usual Burbank lunch spots. I recommend it if you want quality food and are looking for a new lunch place!

Part of vons parking lot.(lots of parking) Very expensive, about $ 40 a person. Don’t get roasted chicken. I was told the seafood is good. Overall I didn’t care for it. Service is good. Food was slow to come out. Check in on Unilocal to get 15% off

Excellent service and declicous food! I will be returning! Great for larger parties as well. Servers were very accommodating. If you’re able to, try the«neighborhood special»… Great deal for three courses that will not disappoint!

The bouillabaisse was amazing! Tender white fish and shellfish in a lobster broth. It’s the best bouillabaisse I’ve had. The bf’s Bass Picatta was also tender with a delicious mild lemon sauce. The ambiance was low-key and cozy and casual, definitely acceptable for a date night. The restaurant’s atmosphere is totally transformative compared to its location. The only complaint I have is that the server was more like a salesman. I understand that they are in part salesman, trying to get you to order more food, but for a casual dinner, it was a bit annoying. Sometimes I just want to go there for what I’m craving, which was Bouillabaisse, and don’t need a 5-course meal. Even after I explained that the bf made me a gluten-free cake for my birthday and that we won’t be needing dessert, the dessert menu showed up at our table. I didn’t even get a courtesy happy birthday wish. Lame.

Grilled salmon was fantastic. The steamed mussels were also really good. Worth a visit for the food. The decorations inside are nice enough. The waiters were really great. Martin was friendly and enthusiastic. Treated us super well! Giuliano was also helpful. Thanks!

French music plays in this warm, little place. It’s one room, but the clever placement of the tables and chairs offers a feeling of privacy, in spite of the open area. The color mix of brown and bright yellow décor are very calming. The wait staff is happy and attentive: «I brought you bread, Madam.» I’m from San Francisco and this bread was good, different — fresh from the oven and soft. The waiter found it joyfully amusing when I said I was ready to order because I’d gone online to see other’s recommendations — I sensed his pride in their restaurant. I had the French Onion Soup, Compressed Manchego Salad, and the Bass Picatta which were insanely divine. All the positive Unilocal comments are true: o) I’m so glad my colleague recommended the Bistro Provence for a quiet, yet somehow, not-so-lonely, dinner for one.

I gotta hand it to this place. Nestled in a basic strip mall, it is a true gem. From the exterior it doesn’t look like anything fancy, but the whole experience is a perfect place for an intimate(romantic) dinner. Definitely recommend the Lobster Ravioli. Now I usually am not a superfan of cream sauces, but it was mixed up with truffles and it just had the perfect tinge of flavors and had a good level of heat(temperature). Also went for the beef bourgignon, which is a huge french staple, and that was also quite delicious. But to be honest, it wasn’t exceptional in taste, but it is pretty good… What I wanted to say, and what gives this place that giant leap from a waivery 3-star to a 5-star experience is the service. Our waiter, Martine, was the best part of the experience. It was 9PM and they close at 930, but he added no pressure for us to speed up. I wasn’t sure which wine to accompany the dishes, so he brought over samples. Come 945 and the meal was complete… He offered the dessert menu. I asked him if it’s too late, and he said that it’s OK… We are the customers and he wants us to be happy. I was debating between the sweetishly perfect apple tarte or the basic reliable crème brûlée. He recommended the apple tarte because of the ice cream on top, and we went for that… He came out with not only the Apple Tarte but the Crème Brulee as well, on the house! Turns out he REALLY wanted to please us! Imagine that kind of service, afterhours, in a super quaint spot that no one would expect! Moral of the story: Don’t judge a book by it’s cover!
