Burbank Piano Lessons

I called up Burbank Piano Lessons a couple of years ago. I had taken lessons before as a child, but 20-​some odd years had passed and I wasn’t confident that I remembered very much. The owner/​instructor of Burbank Piano Lessons, James Conroy, came to my apartment at hours that worked with my crazy work and commuting schedules. It’s been such a great experience ever since. Early on he was quick to identify and correct some bad habits I’d picked up over the years. Since I’ve been taking lessons from James, my sight reading and fingering has improved immensely and I’m now working on much more difficult pieces than I imagined I’d ever have the guts to try 2 years ago. Like all musical instruments, you get out of it what you put into it, but James is a great cheerleader when you’re doing well with a piece of music — and that really helps boost my confidence. He’s also encouraging when I’m nervous and self-​conscious. Burbank Piano Lessons is very affordable ($ 35 a lesson; I shopped around) and accommodating (schedule-​wise), both of which are super important to me. James is also pretty patient, and has a somewhat informal teaching style that isn’t at all intimidating. I love that because I already get so nervous playing in front of people it helps that he doesn’t add to that unnecessarily. Great teacher!
