Cue the Twilight Zone music! You are about to enter another dimension, the bizarro world of Bacco Trattoria! Last night, hubby and I decided to eat up in Burbank before heading down to Hollywood for the Peter Bjorn and John show at the Roxy. He was in the mood for Italian so we thought we would give this place a try. Boy, did we make a horrible mistake. First off, the restaurant is basically just one big room. They were clearly set up for a party with half of the tables all squished together to form one big table. Fine. The owner seats us close to the big table. Ok. Now, this is where it gets weird and almost comical. The waitress that approaches our table has the mouth and attitude that I liken to someone that works at a truck stop diner. I’m not kidding! Very loud and obnoxious. This is nice restaurant($ 20 – 30 per plate), or so I thought, and this woman is telling us not to «get fancy» with our wine request. LOL! Huh?! Excuse me?! We place our wine order, but she immediately goes over to another table and gabs with them for 15 minutes and never places our drink order. A waiter comes over later and asks us what we had ordered and he brings us our drinks. Another 15 minutes go by and she finally comes over and takes our food order, but then doesn’t place the order AGAIN! So, we wait a an additional 30 mintues to get our dinner. In the meantime, the large party is filling the room but no one is sitting down at the table! Please are standing around our table talking loudly. Then truck stop diner waitress comes over and chats up these people! At some point my hubby says in a loud voice«Shut the f*** up» three times but nobody heard. That’s how loud it was! We were cracking up because it was so … weird! While this is going on, the owner’s wife has been sitting at another table the entire night, alone, just sipping water. She was wearing a baseball cap and apparently had a really bad facelift and collagen injections. First of all, who wears a baseball cap in a nice restaurant?! Especially the wife of the owner?! And why was she staring at us?! I’m not kidding. She was staring at us the entire night! We settled our bill and got out of there as fast as we could! We will NOT be going back. EVER.

When you want to take a prospective client or important business associate out to lunch, STAYAWAYFROMTHISPLACE. This story is almost too incredible to be true, but I assure you, it IS. This is the first time I’ve ever felt motivated to write one of these reviews. So read carefully and disregard this at your own peril: At a business lunch this week, celebrating an associate’s birthday, a group of four of us had to wait for an hour sitting at the table before we were able to give our order. When the waitress finally came to the table, she almost seemed to infer that it was our fault that she was so busy. When we mentioned we were in a rush, she let out a loud huffy sigh and stomped off. When she didn’t come back, we began to wonder — is she avoiding us on purpose now? We should have gotten up and left by this time, but we’d already been there for an hour, and were entertaining an important guest to the studio. Finally we were able to flag down another waitress and asked her if we could place our lunch order. She went to alert our waitress who almost yelled«I REFUSE to wait on them.» So she came back and took our orders. Feeling a little embarrassed at this point, we asked to speak to the manager. Although he apologized, he didn’t seem very sincere. He made some excuses, and dashed off. When the bill came, it was for the full amount. They did not give any discount — not even a free desert for the inconvenience. Finally at the end of the meal, as we were leaving, the waitress called out across the dining room: «I hope you enjoyed your salads!!» My business associate innocently replied«Oh yes, they were fine!» to which the waitress responded: «I’ll never wait on you again!» And with that, we left the restaurant, feeling quite strange, and wondering just what we had to deserve to be treated in this manner.
