great selection of fish. but do not stand behind what they sell. had water tested (was told was good) purchased fish. they died i brought back dead fish they said bring water to test i did. they said my water was bad (within 3 days) thats why they died… funny thing i have other fish that are just fine. they just didn’t want to honor their 1 week guarantee… will not go anymore.

This shop is definitely not a reputable fish store. I bought plants for my aquarium here. Within a week all 3 of my fish were very, very sick. One lost ¹⁄₃ of his tail, one suffered septicemia, one now has ich. I recommend driving the 10 minutes to the fish store in Renton.

The staff are very rude, and come across with a ‘know-​it-​all’ attitude when they clearly aren’t highly trained in the science behind what they are discussing. I have had too many bad experiences here to come back again. It’s too bad there aren’t more aquarium stores in the area. I believe no one would shop here for fish supplies if there were a convenient alternative. Save yourself time and aggravation by finding a different place to get your fish and your aquarium supplies.

I’ve been looking for fish to start a goldfish tank and have been very disappointing by many of the other fish stores I’d visited. Some were dirty and badly maintained, and none really had a good selection of healthy fish. And the last place I wanted to visit was one of the big chains. So needless to say I was thrilled to find this place. The store was clean and tidy, the fish healthy, and a with a great selection of both animals, plants, and aquarium supplies. and the staff were super friendly!
Ended up going home with three goldies, some food pellets, frozen bloodworms and a java fern. the fish are currently enjoying their 75 gallon home, and here’s wishing them a long, happy life. APFP’s is a bit of a distance from where I live, but I’ll be back for sure.

Super place — we buy all of our dog food here, and guess what? They handle the rebate for us… WHAT?! What big box store would do that for you? Okay, so it smells like a pet store — well, it is one! There are bunnies and birds — and other reptiles, but I stay away from that section. Our dogs love it in there — and it is great for them to be able to come in!

Brought my cat for her first grooming experience and was thoroughly impressed! The groomer (Chelsea? Kelsey?) obviously cares about animals and was super gentle when handling my cat. When I picked my kitty up, she was cuddled up to a random towel that was in her stage. The groomer had given it to her because my cat loved it so much!
The rest of the store has a pretty good selection of the normal pet supplies. It also sells rabbits, fish, other weird small animals (there were ferrets last time I was there), and crickets.

This is now my official pet store. I already shopped for cat and snake supplies, but today they won my business completely by offering to order the large bag of dog food they didn’t have on hand. I like the idea of shopping locally when I can and the prices meet, or beat, larger national competitors like PetCo. When we purchased our ball python a couple months ago, the representative took twenty minutes to fully explain everything we need to know. The staff is knowledgeable, with exemplary customer service. The selection may not be as large as other place, but I guarantee you’ll find high quality products at reasonable prices.

Super helpful staff! I just walked in one day debating getting a fish. And the lady working was so helpful on telling me things I would need that I hadn’t even realized I would!
They have a few small animals, birds and lots of fish!
The store is small but packed fully with anything you need for your pets!

Selling kittens that have not been spayed/​neutered is beyond irresponsible. It is bad enough you are selling kittens when there are so many homeless animals in the shelters, and shame on those who buy these milled out kittens — go to the shelter! AND, if you buy one of these kittens and don’t have it fixed, you are as bad as this place.
Shame on you!

I always love coming to this place. They always have unique reptiles and fishes. Most, if not all, of the staff are very very helpful and knowledgable in regards to pets and recommendations on specific products. They always have a good selection of pet food at a very reasonable price compared to other pet stores. I have multiple pets (bearded dragon, fishes, and 2 dogs) so having a pet store that I can attend all my pet needs to and at a very inexpensive price is a huge factor for me. I especially love how they are locally owned and they always have good incite on what animals or fishes would be compatible with what. The staff here are wonderful and they always seem pleased to help. I will always come back to this friendly place! I would say I go there probably every week or every other week :)

Really nice pet store! I come here every other week to buy crickets and see what new animals they have.
Has most of the supplies that you’ll need for most of your animals. Toys, food, certain supplements, and pets. Lots of supplies for reptiles, guinea pigs, rabbits, gerbils, fish, etc. Also has cages and tanks! I really enjoy looking at the birds any time I come in.
The staff is friendly and, for the most part, really knowledgeable about many animals. They’re ready to help answer questions and check in on you frequently, which I really appreciate (:
They used to carry puppies, but they stopped and replaced the old puppy area with a cute little grooming area. The prices on nail clippings are really reasonable! I’d highly recommend checking them out to anyone that hasn’t been there before. If you’re looking to add a new member to the family, such as a small animal or reptile, be sure to go there first! You won’t be disappointed.

Has everything our pets need, in this shop. The people are nice and helpful if you need questions answered. My family has a Chihuahua, Cockatiel, and fresh water fish. Thanks to A Place for Pets.

I’m not a fan. The place is dirty and seemingly disorganized. I was going to pick up a few items but I quickly did a search on the internet and I could get better prices elsewhere.
Store employees would walk by without saying hi or checking if we needed anything. The only time one said something was when we left.
I will not be visiting this store again as it doesn’t have a variety or competitive pricing.

Four stars only because this is a really small store, which in turn causes a very slight selection. There is also a pungent smell walking in due to all the fish tanks but that’s a give in.
I take my baby Bailey here to get her nails clipped. She is 8 yrs old and still acts like a friggin diva so I can’t handle her paws on my own at home. The people here handle her with care and words couldn’t describe how much I appreciate the way they take care of my 80 lb chihauhau! Bailey may look like a giant black lab/​grate dane beast but in her heart of hearts she is truly a small dog with cat like tendancies.
The last time I was in they took her (more like dragged her) back to the little room and I sat outside listening. Yes, I am THAT dog mom. They were SO good to her. They suggested some vitamins to give her because in her oldish age, her nails are becoming more brittle.
Every time I come in, everyone is helpful. Dave comes all the time to get fish tank sutff, pumps, filters, food and so on. There’s nothing like a mom and pop, small business pet store. Nothing.

I’ve been going here for years now and the friendly service has never changed. They always carry a wide selection of foods and materials you need to take care of a pet~
I even get to pet the animals there, yay!
A few years back, when my hamster was sick, I went in to ask the owner some tips, and he helped my hamster get better just by changing the food and recommending vitamin treats. I’m really happy this pet store is here. I moved a tad far but I still drop by when I go to the pie shop. I especially choose it over Petco or Petsmart. Cheaper for pets too. I think I’ve purchased nearly all of my fish, hamsters, and guinea pigs there from the past. It tends to be cramped for space sometimes in there though. I hate how they never have kittens whenever i come by, too.):

Our family loves A Place for Pets. My husband, son and I stop by every few weeks for either pet supplies or just take a look around. They have an amazing selection of fish and Kevin (the owner) is a plethora of information. We recently rescued a dog with behavioral problems and what Kevin couldn’t answer for us, another specialist called us later to give advice.
We are so happy to have such a great community pet store!

Over the past few weeks I have visited many pet store looking for new fishes for my old fish tank. My old tank is a large 240 gallon custom tank, so I was looking for larger fish or fishes that would grow rather large. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for, but I figure I’ll know if I see something that catches my eyes.
I was lucky enough to catch Kevin working this evening, as he was quiet knowledgeable about the fishes he sales. The large pike he currently has in stock caught my eyes, and I ask one of the sale staff about them. While she did not know about them, she was willing to admit it and brought Kevin over to answer my questions regarding the pikes. She could had just try to sale me the fish, but she wanted to make sure I was inform about the fish. I appreciated her help.
The store itself is not very large, maybe 20×35 and a upstairs in the back of the store. The majority of the store is fish related, but they do carry other pets and pet food as well. The price is about average for a local pet store, and in some cases less expensive than you would find at the chain pet store. The owners are knowledgeable in their pet, and are willing to share the knowledge if you are willing to ask for it. It seems like they want the customer to enjoy their new pet. They have many different species of fish that you cannot find at other pet store and they have sign posted that said they can special order if they do not have what you are looking for in stock. They have both fresh and salt water fishes, corals, and 6 tanks of plants.
I think this has just become my favorite pet store in the northwest. I have visited most of the pet store in the seattle-​tacoma area, and found this one to be the best kept pet store for a fish keeper. While it may be limited in the area of 4 legged pets, for a fish hobbyist, this is the store for them. There are many store that cater to 4 legged pets, while there are few in the area that has the selection and knowledge in the aquarium that this store has.

I need a cricket place!!! Damnit!
I live in West Seattle and hate Petco and their crappy crickets, so this apparently is the closest place to go. They seem to have a good cricket selection… but they sell puppies :(So, I walked out, cricket free, because I can’t give money (not even the $ 1.50 it takes to buy crickets) to a place that promotes puppy mills… damn…
Again, I will plea to all the West Seattle Unilocalers out there, please find me and my poor leopard gecko a cricket place!
