bottom line: adds variety to a location lacking food options being familiar with the san mateo library location of alex’s, i stopped by this new location for a quick drink and pastry. the service is very friendly here and they offered to heat my chocolate croissant for me. the croissant itself wasn’t bad, but nothing spectacular. they mentioned their specialty is coffee but i’m not a coffee drinker, so we’ll leave it at that. they also serve a variety of sandwiches and salads, so it seems to be reasonable lunchtime fare, especially with the only local option being song’s cafeteria. the prices are a little higher than song’s($ 6.50 for a sandwich, $ 5.50 for a salad, $ 3 for the croissant), but the service and convenience epitomize this recently opened establishment.
