$ 4 Mimosas during happy hour make me a happy girl. The bagels are fresh and delicious, and the coffee is good.

So very sorry to read the sign that Lisa and Sappore Café are no longer in business due to lease issues. It was a great place with a friendly ambiance! Definitely missed!!!

Quaint and delicious. An authentic and tasty find just off the beaten path in downtown Burlingame.

My husband and i came here the other day to grab some lunch. I had a caprese panini and my husband had pizza. The panini was delicious! I took a bite of my husband’s pizza, and it was good but didn’t remind me of pizza from Italy. After lunch we each tried some of their gelato. It was good, but i’ve had better. Make sure to try a bombolini though! For a while, i haven’t been able to find a place that make these delicious italian donuts besides the city. It’s good to know that i can come here too!

Yes, we all know that Delfina has finally opened it’s doors. Burlingame is buzzing with pizza madness. The wait for a table however is a mile long. BUT. did ya know that right across the street Sapore dishes out some of the best pizza on the Peninsula? That’s right, you don’t have to wait for an hour for a slice of heaven. And they have a full bar.

I;ve never had the food here but from the reviews, it looks like I should. I have however had some food espresso beverages that have kept me from having food coma at work. Definitely the vibe of old school Italian caffe but in Burlingame. I think pizze and panini are in my future here.

Really nice place with very tasty sandwiches(panini). The bread was amazing. Had the smoked salmon and soft cheese with cucumber and capers. Delicious. We’re going to try their artesian gelato next.

We came here because of all the great reviews and were very disappointed. We had the penne bolognese and sausage pizza. The bolognese was very bland, it was as if they forgot to put any flavor or salt in it. The pizza dough was very chewy and the cheese was way too thick. We told the waiter when he asked out the food was and he just said, «oh, sorry» and walked away. He was new though. Maybe it was an off day.

Caffe Sapore is for everyone! Lisa(the owner) and her children and staff make you feel that you are a guest in their home. This place opened around the time that my son was born and it became our go-to family spot. However, even when I am going solo or meeting a friend, its still great because it carries the full range of delicious dishes for any type of meeting. There is great coffee and espresso drinks, but also beer and wine, gelatto, and full lunches and dinners and I believe almost everything is home made by the owner. I have only traveled to Italy once, but I find this place to be very authentic because of its welcome atmosphere and the fact that you can get everything you could want for a reasonable price, which is hard for most places to pull off in an area such as Burlingame. Even though the ingredients are fresh, the food quality high, and the environment very relaxed, your food will always come quickly. But when you are here, you won’t want to rush, its just too fun.

Café Sapore is the extension of Sapore Restaurant down in Burlingame Ave. What I love about this café is that it has that relaxing, feel good, non-hectic atmosphere unlike the restaurant at Burlingame Ave.(don’t get me wrong, I do recommend people to try out the big restaurant for a family dinner, etc.). So going back to the café — My boyfriend orders the same food every time we are at the café. I on the other hand am more adventurous! I have tried pretty much everything in the menu. My favorite? Prosciutto both parma and cotto. If you plan to eat on a lighter side, try their Insalata Caprese. For the desert? Gelato please??? Tony recommended the lemon drop, which is so light and refreshing. Staff: Lisa is wonderful as we as her children! Tony was great too. Highly recommended.

affe Sapore in Burlingame is a great quaint café that brings a taste of Italy directly to the bay. Full of delicious Italian inspired sandwiches, Italian wines, homemade pasta sauces/soups, homemade gelato, and an amazing Italian imported hazelnut bomboloni. I met the owner Lisa Root when I was traveling in Florence and she told me about her café. She’s really cool and her food did not dissapoint. To start we had their delicious parma prosciutto panini which was awesome. Accompanied with an Italian danasi coffee, it was a great way to start off the day. To breakup the day we had a glass of Montepulciano Italian red wine which was quite nice. To end the lunch, we finished with their famous Italian imported hazelnut bomboloni with their hazelnut gelato. When the bomboloni came out it was warm and had an amazing hazlenut aroma. As you cut in it oozes out with delicious hazelnut filling. It was a great way to end the lunch. I would recommend caffe sappore for a quick dessert break, a solid parma sandwich, or an unpretentious local Italian dinner while enjoying some good Italian wines. TTT approved. Checked out reviews on Unilocal for suggestions for lunch in Burlingame. Took a chance on Caffe Sapore and glad I did. My party ordered Smoked Salmon Panini, Portabello Panini, Chicken Panini and Beet and Spinach Salad. All choices were very tasty. Loved the soy and regular lattes too. Service pleasant and quick. Will go back again.

You know, Burlingame has so much to offer, yet I find myself visiting the same spots for lunch. I was in need of some change and decide to check out this spot. Very cool and relaxed atmosphere. Outdoor seating, indoor seating, coffee, gelato, espresso and fresh pastries. The menu is exciting and definitely Italian inspired, which is always good. I ordered up a Portabella Panini and it was pretty good. The cheese was melted nice, mushrooms were cooked pretty good, but the aioli was overpowering and pretty much the only thing I could taste. Lack of seasoning can turn what sounds great on a menu into something that doesn’t taste the way your mind envisioned it. I want to really like this place and I am going to give them a few more visits before I declare that they are just a 3 star spot that’s been 4 starred by Burlingame housewives who spend the majority of the day wasting away their lives at spots just like this. They offer a dinner menu that sounds delicious. Ravioli with sauce, Caesar salad and bread for like $ 30. I would definitely give that a whirl because feeding 4 peeps for $ 30, in Burlingame of all places, is a steal.

Cute little sandwich spot. Had a GREAT beet salad. Perfectly dressed with enough beets. I’ve learned that people like to lay 2 slices of beets on a pile of spring mix and call it «beet salad». Mom’s sandwich looked pretty good too. It looked like they had an espresso machine, and there were bottles of wine everywhere, but there were no menus for either so not sure how that all works. They even sell pasta meals for 4 to go. Genius!

Gelatogelatogelatogelato! Can you tell I love gelato!!! Café Sapore doe not only have gelato, this cute café has great panini as well. The décor inside is warm and has an extensive collection of wine in the front(hence the wine bar at night). I went to lunch here and ordered the Parma Proscuitto Panini(proscuitto, tomato, mozzarella and pesto) and butternut squash soup. The panini came out piping hot with melted cheese and crispy bread; butternut squash soup was the way I liked it — not *too* creamy but still retained the butternut squash flavor. After lunch we had to try the gelato and the ower kindly suggested pistachio and hazelnut. I’m a hazelnut fan so of course I had to get that and chocolate. The hazelnut didn’t taste cloying and the chocolate tasted like real chocolate and non chalky. 2 flavors of gelato for $ 3. Not bad at all! I really liked Café Sapore — I will definitely be back as it’s an alternative to the usual suspects on Burlingame Ave, plus the parking around there is easier and the meters are longer than an hour which is great because you can go walk off the calories shopping on Burlingame Ave.

Cutest place ever. It’s an ice cream shop AND a wine bar. Kick ass. (*side note: this is why I love San Francisco) We ordered a half bottle of Italian red recommended by the gentleman behind the counter. It cost us $ 16 and was KILLER. He brought it to our table and poured us two glasses. He then swung by with a plate of(free!) salami. Wonderful wine, wonderful meat, and wonderful service. Oh and I’m guessing the gelato isn’t half bad either. Good thing I don’t live around here because I’d be there every day… My gut and my liver thank goodness we’re a few thousand miles away.

Best in category. I had fettuccine bolognese and it was awesome. It comes with a lot of meat sauce, which was delicious. I also had the dessert of the day, which was an apple tart with gelato. The presentation was perfect. It was good, but maybe a little less impressive than the pasta. They have a nice layout for the neighborhood. It’s conducive for shoppers to drop in for a quick lunch as well as those going out for dinner. They have a nice bar for singles and a fair amount of space upstairs for larger parties. The place is styled nicely and the atmosphere is a tad bit reminiscent of a quaint Italian café. I’ll probably drive out of my way to come back through Burlingame just for another meal at this fine Italian family café.
