We were looking for an affordable lunch while browsing the charming streets of Burlingame when we stumbled on the Burger Joint. The smell of the burgers on the grill and the reasonable prices drew us in. It was pretty busy I ordered while my dining partner saved a seat. We ordered two cheeseburgers with pepperjack cheese they came with fries or greens(salad). We chose fries. I ordered a diet coke and he ordered a iced tea. We were given a tall number stick thing and grabbed a seat with our drinks. There was an area to the side with straws, ketchup and Grey Poupon dijon mustard. The staff was really friendly and our food arrived pretty quick for how busy it was. I added some dijon to my burger, loaded my plate with ketchup, heavily salted my fries because that is how I roll and dug in. Wow!!! I was blown away! This place was good! The meat was cripsy on the edges and really juicy in the middle. I’m a small girl and I seriously devoured that burger. LOL The fries were crispy not soggy and flacid like most burger joints. We sat in silence while we ate our lunch and then took a few minutes to relax before we continued on with our nice Memorial Day out in the bay. Next time we are in Burlingame we will make sure to hit the Burger Joint and I think i’m going to try one of their shakes too.

I got a chicken sando, bf got a philly cheesesteak. Chicken sando: great that it comes on a wheat bun, and great that it’s an actual grilled chicken breast and not some fried crap. Other than that, it’s nothing to write home to mom about. Bf’s philly cheesesteak is NOCOMPARISON to Jersey Joe’s… go to that place instead. But it did the job. It was ok. The fries were big but crunchy and yummy. The«greens» on the menu is not greens like you think — it’s salad… bummer. I wouldn’t come back. Nothing bad, just not great.

I have to say, leaving a one star isn’t something I like to do, but in this case I’m left with no choice. The food itself is pretty decent. I do think the burgers are good and I like that they have recently started to offer beer within the past year. Yay for booze! Unfortunately, 80% of the staff SUCKS! I’ve had them immaturely snicker and laugh at me while they correctly perceive that I am gay.(I really thought this through before coming to this conclusion, but it happens literally every time and at no other place on the peninsula have I had this type of negative experience. I also wrote the head office over a month ago and they have chosen at this point to ignore me.) It’s great for a meal, but the staff in general leaves a yuck feeling with you. I’m not going back. Hey you know there’s a Five Guys Burgers in town now right?

The cheeseburger I got at Burger Joint was one of the worst I’ve ever had. Nothing about it tasted good. And it was very expensive. I doubt I’ll ever be eating at this place again.

The food was amazing. I did not feel as guilty eating healthy junk food. The burger was amazing and the fries both potato and sweet potato melted in my mouth. My boyfriend and I shared a coffee milkshake that weighed about a pound. I gave Burger Joint 3 stars because of the lack of customer service. The cashier was not welcoming. The cooking staff seemed exhausted and the waiter was nice, however not attentive.

Got a Cheeseburger — My review is based on the Cheeseburger. When I first started working in Burlingame, I avoided this place at all cost, it was a haven for middle schoolers and their Teen Mom drama. Now that school is back in session, I had the opportunity to enjoy this place without having to fight for a table or hear about how Jonny wont hold Annie’s hand, and does that mean they are no longer ‘dating.‘ Understand, these guys use leaner cuts, which usually means less taste, and they stayed true to that belief. The burger is nothing like what I make at home(IS it just me who thinks that a good burger needs diced onions and garlic, pepper, and Cholula … INTHEBURGER?) Add a little pepper and Cholula and everything is better. The french fries are not over salted, they taste like … well … potatoes. I feel that if I am paying $ 11.50 for a cheeseburger, fries, and coke, i shouldn’t have to season to taste. They are opening a Five Heart-Attacks down the street and it will be interesting to see how the two compete. Burger Joint with the leaner meat and Five Guys where you get a pile of grease with a side of burger. Why give it 3 stars after all that? The burger is clean, the fix-ins are fresh, the bun is fresh. And when Jonny and Annie aren’t fighting about how many fries each got, its a nice, quiet little location and clean place to eat.(Why didn’t I just write that to begin with?)

Got burgers from here twice in one week. Let me explain. The first time, I placed an order by phone for myself and one of my co-workers. When I went to pick it up, I noticed they messed up my order, and they promptly took action to fix it. Fantastic. Burgers tasted awesome, fries were crispy, and my coffee milkshake tasted like my favorite Mitchell’s ice cream. When I checked my account a day or so later, I noticed I had 2 charges(my card was swiped twice when they were fixing my order) and thought, oh great, I’ve been overcharged for something I can’t return. So I went back and voiced my concern to the girl at the register. She gladly worked with me to clarify the charges, and everything ended up being ok. HUGERELIEF. I bought 2 more burgers and a milkshake again. I totally appreciate good customer service, as well as the cleanliness of the whole place, and oh yeah, juicy, wholesome, fresh off the grill burgers. In my opinion, the staff at this Burger Joint takes care of its customers and I will not hesitate to come back the next time I get that burger craving.

I thought that this place looked like a decent burger place, and they even offer salad hey great. My turkey burger was cooked beyond well done. It was dry, and even though I asked for salad they gave me fries… and they were not worth the energy it would have taken to raise them to my mouth. Would never return

This is a neat place. Very spacious and very clean. I remember when this spot was Towles Café not too long ago. But times change and so does the landscape of old Burlingame Avenue. I had the regular hamburger with everything, including fries. So did my dad. Except I asked for the sweet potato fries. They are a treat. Just the right amount of salt and sweetness, I am glad I tried them. They are great with mustard. Vanilla milk shake was alright a bit too sweet for me. My dad enjoyed his burger and said it was the best he has had in a long time. I enjoyed my burger too. But at 7.00 per burger, I guess I am skeptical to give it five stars for I think $ 7 to 8.00 for a plain burger is high. Yet as I said I did enjoy it. «Burger Joint» reminds me a lot of Mel’s diner. It has that kind of atmosphere only a bit more low key. I like the mural of «The Archie’s» comics strip on the wall. The music played in the background is classic rock covering a wide array and it includes the 1980’s and ’90’s. Service is friendly and prompt and helpful. Yes, when I am on Burlingame Ave I will go back. I think for the next time I will try the onion rings and the turkey burger.

I currently have the two Burger Joint locations in San Francisco as my bookmark businesses. But I have yet to gone to two locations hitherto. And to nobody’s surprise, I’ve landed at the family-oriented, pricey, crowded and busy Burlingame’s Burlingame Avenue for my lunch on an overcast Saturday afternoon. From the small and limited menu selection, I ordered the Cheeseburger for $ 8.95. The sandwich comes with a choice of melted cheese(I chose Swiss) on a made to order Niman Ranch patty and the customary toppings. For another $ 1.50, I got grilled onions and another $.75 I got grilled mushrooms. Fries or Salad is also included with the burger, but the drink isn’t. So I ordered a $ 5.00 bottle of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. For a hefty $ 16.00 and despite the low ratings from the Unilocalers who ate here, the burger was greasy, but cooked very well and wasn’t bad. My Visa was accepted for my meal. Many of you can argue that I can get a better burger from elsewhere i.e. «The Counter». Oh well, I’m in Burlingame. What can I do?

This is a good burger spot for lunch in B’Game and they recently upgraded the menu. For the longest time, they had the In N Out blueprint of burgers and cheese, the end. I went back recently and they have added a view great toppers. Swine, Avo and grilled onions. The burgers are very good, taste fresher than most frozen burgers(they claim they are fresh but I have my doubts) do and the price is not too Burlingame-over-the-damn-top.

A place like Burger Joint should be a perfect fit for Burlingame Avenue. Unfortunately, the food is simply not that good. The burgers taste OK but are no better than if I grilled a pre-packaged patty at home. Fries are disappointingly bland and often don’t seem fresh or even completely cooked. Hot dogs are decent but not worth the price, which can be said for the entire menu. Service is very friendly and the location is good, but after a half dozen or so visits the food hasn’t improved at all. It’s not a horrible place, but it pales in comparison to other burger joints like Jeffrey’s and The Counter.

Yes the prices are high… but I love the fact that they use Niman Ranch beef for their burgers. And the burgers are large. We ordered a cheeseburger and a hamburger and it came out to $ 16(definitely on the pricey side). But they were both delicious and very substantial. The tomatoes, lettuce, onions were all very fresh. The fries are also delicious — though as others have noted, are fried in peanut oil. The ambience/décor could be improved — a bit too sterile.

Hey Burger Joint? Now that is new. I would have to give this place a 3 stars only because of what I ordered. I can not believe I ordered chicken at a burger joint with the same name. What the heck was I thinking? Right, I wasn’t. The grilled chicken was dry and flavorless. I should of ordered the burger which I heard was juicy and fresh. Though it took awhile because it is made to order. They had great condiments with the burger which includes fries. The fries was good. Very crunchy! The price was right now too cheap or expensive. Actually a small price to pay for a good size burger with alot of condiments. You are paying for a burger with a fastfood price. The burger joint brings you back to the happy days years. Very retro. Although it is scary to see a dummy from a balcony looking at you while you are eating. When I was there, I swear i always thought it was real. Pretty scary. I guess it is a price for a good burger in Burlingame you might say.

Well, if you want cheap fast food burger, don’t come here. Their burgers are thick, juicy, made to order with a full compliments of fresh lettuce/tomatoe/onion and pickles. For a buck and change more, I will definitely come back!

I stumbled upon this place while visiting a nearby store. After perusing some of the existing Unilocal reviews, I can’t help but wonder at the overwhelming negativity. Perhaps my visit was an anomaly? I have to revisit to be certain, and I certainly will revisit. At 7:00 p.m. on a Friday night, the place was moderately busy. The ambiance was simplistic, no-nonsense, retro, «burger joint.» Not precisely what I expected from an establishment located on Burlingame Ave. Coupled with the overwhelming cacophony of noise emanating from the families with small children, I admit that the atmosphere left something to be desired. The menu is utilitarian — burger + fries; cheeseburger + fries; hot dog + fries. You get the gist. Understandably, this simplistic system might not appeal to everyone. I chose to patronize this restaurant specifically to enjoy a burger with fries, so I had no qualms with the available choices. On the contrary, my typical indecisiveness(particularly when faced with an overwhelming variety of burger accoutrements) was replaced by a surprisingly speedy selection. Another pleasing aspect was the meat selections — humanely raised on sustainable farms. Niman ranch cheeseburger? Yes, please. What, in my book, constitutes an irreparable burger joint faux pas? If you discount any obvious cooking catastrophe(think: E. coli or botulism) an incorrectly cooked beef patty would be number one, with limp, tasteless french fries(à la In-N-Out) coming in second. Not only did our selections come quickly, but I was thrilled to find a cheeseburger that was perfectly cooked, juicy and delicious. What’s more, the french fries completely knocked my unsuspecting socks off. There was something magical about the crisp: fluffy potato ratio, with a pleasantly crunchy outer layer and a light, fluffy core. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, which I coupled with a coke for about eleven bucks. I also enjoyed this surprisingly unpretentious spot on Burlingame Avenue to grab a quick, tasty burger.

I’ve seen many different restaurants occupy this location throughout the years, and I wonder why no business has been able to establish themselves in this prime corner, street-front location. Will Burger Joint follow the same cycle or can it truly stand the test of time that no other business has been able to do? Upon walking in, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a time warp with the whole 50’s retro-theme. Your burger is cooked to order, which is why it takes a bit longer than your usual Burger King or Mc D’s, but the wait isn’t TOO long. If you don’t ask them to cook your burger well-done, it is a bit pink(for me). Their customer service really stinks, though. The girl at the counter just takes your order and that’s it, doesn’t offer you a straw or napkins when giving your meal or soda, «if you’re smart, you probably wouldve seen it and gottten it already», is probably what she’s thinking. I think she hates her job. But this is still a cool place to go because of the ambiance. Who doesn’t love Burlingame Ave? The prices aren’t cheap, nor are they THAT expensive, but definitely a place to try at least once…

It was a great grilled chicken breast sandwich and fries. The chicken was lite and not overspiced. The fries were perfect steak cut and not over salted. The prices were a little high, but we were on Burlingame Ave not a Millbrae in and out near the freeway. Simple easy delicious and just a short walk from the Apple store or Pottery barn. Yum.

Plus 1 star for the Root Beer float and Strawberry Milkshake. Minus 4 stars for the nasty food. What a waste I think they make a better burger at burger king. The Burger was soo dry and burnt and the fries looked like they were soaked in grease… I would never come back. If you’re in Burlingame and you wanna grab a quick bite go to Philly’s cheesesteak shop on California their cheesesteaks are sooo good and the burgers are pretty good too.

Thanks but no thanks Burger Joint. First of all, I really hope my experience was isolated but when I spend $ 9 bucks on a cheeseburger/fries combo, 1. Don’t give me fries that are purple/blue(mold) in the inside, it might have been freezer burn but then they were overcooked and super hard. 2. Don’t give me the«butt ends» of the fries, the little half inch pieces that no one wants to eat. If Burger Joint’s beef patties are supposed to be from Niman ranch, then why don’t the burgers taste good like at Barney’s in SF, at least be good like Jeffrey’s in San Mateo. Shoot, In-n-out in Millbrae and even the McDonald’s on Elco are way better than this place. First impressions are very important and this would be the first and last time at this place.
