Elite Tailoring & Alterations For Ladies & Men

Despite being 5’10″ tall, even I sometimes have to get pants hemmed. While cleaning out my closet recently, I found two pairs of jeans that I haven’t worn much because they’re too long. Enter Elite Tailoring — just down the street from my apartment, reasonable prices, and turn around time was three days!
Elite is downstairs in the mall on the corner of Buringame Ave and Primrose Road. Just underneath the new Plant Café (what used to be Sharper Image and before that Laura Ashely). I popped in early in the week, tried on my two pairs (with shoes) for her to measure, and returned 3 days later to pick them up. $ 24 total, and the length is perfect on both pairs!
Ask her how much it will be when you drop off your items, as she is CASH ONLY!

I just called this place to try to ask a question about replacing buttons on my suit and the cost to do so. I didn’t even get that far with the lady that answered the phone.
The first time that I called the lady just answered the phone with «hello». I asked whether I had contacted the tailor and I got no response. After three no responses to my hello queries I hang up. Thinking that I dialed the wrong number I tried calling again and the same lady answers the phone. Here is more or less the conversation:
Lady: Hello?
Me: Hi, I am trying to reach the tailoring shop. Have I called the right number?
Lady: What? What do you want? (In a tone like I am a telemarketer bothering her)
Me.: I am trying to reach the tailoring shop. Is this (650) 344‑5950?
Lady: What? What do you want? Who are you?
Me: I am trying to see whether this is the tailor and to see whether you can help me. Have I reached the right number?
Lady: Yes. What do you want? Who are you? (Like I am bothering her still)
Me: Are you trying to run a business? Is this how you answer the phone to and treat your customers?
Lady: (sheepishly in a dialed down tone) I’m sorry… click (she hangs up)
How ridiculous is that? If I could give zero (0) stars she would have done an outstanding job earned that. I’m not even bothering with this place. Well, I guess she sort of made that decision for me.

I had a long dress that needed to be hemmed as I am short and everything I wear needs to be shortened. My usual seamstress told me they couldn’t do my dress, so I found this place on Unilocal.I guess I should have shopped around a little more as all these reviews were for pants. My dress is the right length but it is a tad uneven in places, and the material is sateen and it was sewn a bit off, so you see this wrinkle in the material all around them hem of the dress. She charged me $ 40 which would have been reasonable, but I was disappointed in the work, it took 9 days for the dress to be ready.

Gone are the days where I self-​hem my pants using safety pins, staples, paperclips or duct tape
I guess this means I’m growing up!
I finally decided to get my jeans hemmed by a professional.
I work upstairs from this tiny underground alterations shop and decided to try them out. The woman who hemmed my jeans did such a good job that when I went to pick them up I almost asked her if she forgot to hem them! They looked amazing! And at only $ 12 bucks, I can’t believe I waited till I’m almost 30 to start getting my pants hemmed!

This place is located in that shopping center no one goes to in burlingame remember where the sharper image was? (Just look for books inc) né way I love how i can go from Anthropologie straight to see this lady.
Typical 5 – 7 day wait on a pant hem and it was only 15 bucks to keep the original hem– SOLD (5 stars on that). Its cheap and well done– i can’t speak for more complicated pieces but au contraire these weren’t just ANY jeans — wide leg thick hem, had to be hemmed at the perfect length to JUST ALMOST hit the ground ala rachel zoe.

I’ve taken my jeans to Karen at Elite and she’s always done a great job with the original hem. She also does the alterations for Susan and the Grocery Store on Burligame Ave. She is very accommodating and friendly.

Located downstairs in the Fox Mall arcade (the one with the Sharper Image) on Burlingame Ave. A basic pant hem costs $ 10 – 12 per pair. I had two pairs hemmed competently. It took 2 days and I was satisfied with the work!
