Goodwill Outlet Store

This is not a normal retail outlet. My friends and I came here our of curiosity as we love to thrift. The entrance was not clearly marked. After asking three different people we were told it was the first garage entrance to the right of the donation center office. There was a long warehouse entry and we found ourselves wandering around for about 15min browsing the bins. There were fork lift drivers driving haphazardly around so we tried to avoid them. Finally a blonde woman we walked past few times approached us and asked if this was our first time here. I said yes. We were read on Unilocal it was an outlet. She proceeded to get upset and told us we weren’t allowed in there and it was dangerous because of all the fork lifts. I explained to her there should be signs if the area is closed. She ignored me and proceeded to tell us only this small area in front was open to the public and that all purchases was made by the bin. Some of the bins were as tall us me and filled with random objects. Some were by type like china or electronics while others were just plain hodgepodge. Many of these bins are huge so I can’t imagine a normal person would want them. I think only perhaps a flea market vendor would want such things.

The Goodwill Outlet was a bust. If you like an item that is in a bin you cannot pay for that single item, but have to pay for the entire bin and all it’s contents. Bins were relatively cheap, ranging from $ 10-​$ 50.
The guy working there said the nearest weigh and pay Goodwill is located in San Francisco and then in Sacramento.

This store is no longer a retail outlet store. They only sell 4’x4’x4’ pallet cubes of random as is merchandise, presumably to other thrift stores or pro ebayers. They told me the only retail As Is store in the Bay area is the one in San Francisco now.

If you’ve never been to a Goodwill outlet (such as the Goodwill As-​Is Store on 11^th Street in San Francisco) you should know you’ll be wading in big plastic bins full of clothing. Overall found the quality and selection of items at this particular location to be poor. Given the choice I will probably stick to the Goodwill As-​Is Store.

The Goodwill outlet has a slightly different inventory than most Goodwill stores. They have cheap, but flawed/​stained clothes, which they tell you upfront and I confess I’ve never really looked at. They also have some house gear, including appliances, décor, chairs and shelves. I haven’t seen any dishes or glasses other than a few large platters.
I got a cool hanging planter, a chippy 3-​shelf cabinet for the wall, an old American flag and a scrolly metal magazine rack.
I passed on the silver cup trophy and a Hello Kitty toaster.
The outlet is attached to a donation center, so you can de-​clutter and re-​clutter in one stop.
10÷15÷12 An update: the clothing is not all flawed/​stained as I’d previously believed. Some of it is just excess inventory or stuff that didn’t sell in the store. Children’s clothing in particular often falls under the «excess» category. I’ve bought several items: a NWT girls’ swimsuit, Nike exercise pants, Banana Republic jeans, a Janeville sweater. Of course, you’ll want to check clothes very carefully and there’s no dressing room (and no return policy), but these items each cost between 50 cents and $ 3.
