I hate writing reviews, especially bad ones, but I don’t know what else to do. I came to H29 for the first time on a Wednesday evening with a friend a couple of weeks ago. We ordered wine and the hummus plate to start while we decided on what to eat. The pita bread was harder than a rock and we could barely bite into them. We decided to give the benefit of the doubt and continued our meal. We wanted to order the fish and chips, but they were completely out of all fish items on the menu. We ended up going with the beef sliders. It was a huge mistake. I went to bed feeling great and woke up at 6 am sicker than I have ever been in my life. I can’t tell you how awful this food poisoning was – I had to go to urgent care it was so bad. I completely had to miss Thanksgiving and the long weekend. I will spare you the details. By the time I was well enough to call the restaurant, the woman I talked to said that the manager would not be in again until the next Wednesday. She said that she was sorry and she’d let the manager know that I got sick and would have her call me. No one called and I’ve heard nothing back since. My friend and I thought that maybe since the pita bread was so bad and the fish was out of stock, maybe the beef was old, too? Or maybe the onions on the sliders? Maybe one of the staff was sick while working? I don’t know because no one has acknowledged my experience from the restaurant, but I just wanted to warn people so that no one experiences the absolute heinous experience that was my Thanksgiving this year. I really wanted to love this place, but avoid, avoid, avoid(just like I will be doing with beef now for the rest of my life, I think).

H29 is spacious, modern décor, lots of seating. 1⁄2 unpriced pastries.(fresh ones also unpriced brew:(m. 2=tax) looked small, mr. expresso –harsh tasting, later smoothed out drips. –friendly, quick service –place almost empty on rainy day.

Why wasn’t H29 in downtown Burlingame when I lived there? It’s kind of the perfect setup for someone who works remotely and also loves hot chocolate and wine. Complimentary Wifi that connects easily. Open seating at long tables. Frothy and sweet drinking chocolate. Big cups of filtered water. These are all things I enjoy on a chilly morning if leaving the house isn’t an option. Perfect for killing a little bit of time in between meetings and appointments. I’d totes come back for a little vino and happy hour.

The hours are different than what your posts. Everything is lovely including the service. The menu is great for lunch with the small plates and the wine selection pleases every pallet!

Coffee AND wine??? I know a few people that could go a little crazy at this place, but luckily I had my head on straight and knew that 9am meant coffee. I came here since it was down the street from where I was getting my oil change, and I brought my laptop — free wi-fi! They have a unique selection of drinks and I chose the Spiced Mexican Latte, which was pretty good. It definitely had a strong kick of spice. I also got a half off blueberry scone which was dry(but I think scones are suppose to be?) The flavors of it was good, but I didn’t like the texture. Overall, it’s a good place to chill/work/study. The space is nice and open with a lot of windows and they have a unique drink selection to choose from. A tad on the pricey side though.

We came here yesterday for some coffee and to get some work done — I had a vanilla latte which was pretty good. The fiancé had a Pilsner, he thought the beer selection here was pretty good. We then ordered eats — the spinach dip and baguettes were really good, the Brussels sprouts were mouth-watering good, and then herb hummus was okay. Then we ordered the sliders — beef and lamb — and chicken wings. The chicken wings were okay which was a bummer for me! Overall the ambiance is great for drinks and coffee! The chicken wings are dismal. Skip them!

Favorite coffee shop in Burlingame, and maybe the peninsula. The ambiance is trendy and the service is great. The sweet potato fries are also crispy and delicious. The beekeeper is probably my favorite coffee here. Basically like sipping on liquid Christmas because of the cinnamon.

This is my favorite study spot so far. Free wifi, chic laid-back space, clientele more«adult» so to speak. This is the only(in this area, that I know of) wine bar that doesn’t mind you working on your laptop being anti-social, that offers [good] food, that also offers good coffee and is a coffee bar. First, you come in to do some work so you order coffee, or you order lunch. And then to reward yourself for working so hard, you have a glass of wine. or You come in, have a glass of wine to unwind and de-stress from that annoying workday/client meeting/stressful anything, get a little relaxed(and maybe tipsy depending on your tolerance), do some more work to sober up, have some coffee to perk up, then drive home refreshed. I tend to go with the latter, but whatever works for you ya know.(Btw no I don’t get tipsy from a glass so no worries about the driving. not that you care right ;)) Either way, these guys got it figured out. Cheers!

Met some friends here for drinks and late snacking last weekend. It’s a little bit off the beaten path but there were still a few people there. Not crowded given it was a Saturday night. I enjoyed a few glasses of white wine — several reasonable options for $ 6. Unfortunately they don’t have any house reds at the same price range. Very pleasant and friendly staff who checked up on us but weren’t annoying — easy to get their attention to get a top-up.

3 stars because I’m on the wall. Would give it 4 stars but I only had a latte and pastry and the latte was«meh». It was noon and the scone was not dry(pay attention Peets). Challenged the barista to see if she could make a better latte than Starbucks. Full of confidence she said«it’s not hard to beat them». Is it better? Slightly watered down, dark roast(some reviewers complain it’s bitter) and that’s ok with me. Not hot enough though(milk maybe cold). Also since the latte seemed slightly tasteless that means that the espresso shot isn’t right as the temperature needs to be high(200+) with a lot of pressure(14 bar min) to extract the coffee flavor. The machine looks big enough, but maybe needs a service. I would need to come back to check the coffee out again. A good spot for a laptop our journal session with cool music and ambience. Expensive Burlingame meter parking though… sorry kiddo not better than Starbucks by far. Will give you another«shot» though. Price was at least a dollar high for a latte and pastry than either Starbucks or Peets. I would come for a glass of wine since its close. Did not satisfy my caffeine crave today

Came in during the early afternoon to have coffee and get some work done. The staff is friendly and courteous, no complaints there. My latte was delicious(as you’d hope it would be this close to SF) as was the pastry I got. Once I bunkered down with my laptop and my drink, I was not disturbed. One waiter asked if I wanted to order lunch after 30min of being there, and although I didn’t order he still made sure to bring me water when I finished my latte. A little noisy in my opinion, but nothing headphones can’t fix. Overall would definitely go back for coffee, although I can’t say anything about the actual lunch/dinner service.

On a Sunday evening, it was pretty quiet, but great place to relax or kill time. They have happy hour even on the weekend. Great concept of coffee and wine as my husband wanted coffee and I wanted an alcoholic beverage. If you want something savory to eat, order from the wine bar, but skip the truffle fries. They’re not what you expect. If you want something sweet, order from the coffee bar. Lemon tart was pretty good.

The restaurant is located near downtown Burlingame across the Bank of the West. There’s only street metered parking in front or public parking lots a couple of blocks away. If you enter the establishment from the main entrance at the corner of Howard Ave and Park Rd, you have to go towards the back to get to the Espresso Bar. Otherwise, there’s an entrance on Howard Ave. Only a few stools at the counter in the Espresso Bar and no outdoor seating. They have tables in the restaurant that you can use if they’re not too busy. They serve Mr. Espresso Coffee and have free wi-fi. At 1PM, they definitely were not fresh so wasn’t really a fan. They didn’t have the slight crunch on the outside and slight chewiness on the inside. Flavor was on the subtle side. The guy helping me raved about their pistachio flavor though but since they were out, I wasn’t able to try =(I had time to kill so I was able to try their crème brûlée at the counter(which I would recommend). There wasn’t much sugar bruleed on top though so wished there was more of it. The base coffee was a white mocha which was decent but not really strong. The baristas assisting me were really nice and friendly. Some of the other employees didn’t sound so nice to other clients when they came through the main entrance to get coffee though. They almost sounded annoyed. Maybe they should have signs to direct customers if they don’t want them to go through that door? Since the drink was decent, I’d come back to try other drinks since their menu says they have seasonal drinks as well. Not a very good place to sit and chit-chat with friends though so I’d only go to get a drink on the go or if I’m running errands on my own.

This has become a favorite go to place between me and my friends. It’s a great place to go to chat and drink beer/wine/coffee if you’re not too hungry. Definitely not as loud as your typical Starbucks. Menu includes breakfast and appetizers, but the main attraction is definitely the wines. The décor is hipster and modern, which I really liked

This is easily my favorite hang out spot in Burlingame. It is a much needed spot just off of the main downtown drag. The décor is really modern inside and they have a little fire place. Its has a cool, casual yet swanky feel to it. The food is super yummy. They have a constantly rotating menu, but if they have the brussel sprouts, you should definitely get them! I have also enjoyed the watermelon salad and the cheese platters. The wine flights are the best. You get to try some great wine for only $ 10. Its a win! My friend and I were delighted to see that our favor bartender from UnderAttic now works here. Huge bonus for great servers!

We stumbled across this gem in burlingame and we will definitely be coming back! I had the turkey panini and came with a side of salad! The wine flight is so worth it for $ 10, with pretty generous pours! The«bar» itself is very casual but can easily give a classy and upscale feel. Since it is a wine and coffee bar(a wine bar on one side separated by a wall countering the coffee barista) there were many people socializing but others were studying or reading. Interesting concept to be studying at a wine bar though.

Really good happy hour deals M-F from 5 – 7. ~$ 6 wines, ~$ 5 bites, ~$ 3 drafts. I wasn’t a huge fan of my sauvignon blanc but the local beers were good. We also didn’t try any of the food but it sure smelled good. Clean and modern, they also serve coffee, and they had sports on the TV if you’re into that.

Good spot for wine or coffee in B’game, we went around 4.30 on a monday intending to get coffee and ended up getting a few glasses of wine and a some small plates. We were the only ones there at that time, so it wasn’t loud They have a wide selection of wines and all of them are by the glass. The fried Brussels sprouts were very good. The décor is very crisp and our server was great. I would go back for a glass of wine and small plates again.
