I was staying near SFO for an early flight, and this place was recommended by my boyfriend’s sister and dad(a pilot). I got there in time for happy hour, which is what makes the a 3 star instead of 2. The sliders were a good value for their happy hour price — 2 sliders for $ 4. The wine was also a generous pour and a decent price — at happy hour. The calamari, however, was a huge disappointment. I ordered calamari — not fried random veggies. The plate was small, and only half actual calamari since the rest was fried zucchini, jalapeño, and I think green beans? Also, the lemon was so strong that I couldn’t eat a few pieces — and I love lemons, and tart things in general. It is what it is — a restaurant near the airport. Service was spotty and the feel wasn’t memorable, but a good value. What was memorable, however, was the random old man at the bar who told me that he would like to cover me in chocolate… which was my cue to leave.

In the old days the servers were aspiring singers and could be very entertains but not very good servers Now the service is better Deli style sandwiches are good. So was the steak dinner. Jambalaya fettuccini was ok but greasy. Crab cakes were good. Mac and cheese was not a large portion but was good. The chicken sandwich with Carmelized onion and avocado was very good.

This was my 1st visit to the Burlingame location — I usually go to the SF location. I was very pleasantly surprised. Portions were very favorable — I think it is a great value for quality of food and experience. I enjoyed their signature«Max’s Famous Reuben» — very healthy portion of corned beef and very flavorful. The arugula salad that comes with the sandwich was very tasty too. They have a piano bar with a very small dance floor. Watching customers dance is very«old school», entertaining & sweet. It’s a nice place, especially for large groups.

Oh my goodness! What a wonderful kitchen! I have to admit, from the outside I wasn’t really sure I would enjoy it– however when I came inside and saw some of the plates on other tables, and explored the menu, I decided to order the shrimp tacos which were fabulous I watch the cod tacos go by, looked yummy! The side salad with arugula was absolutely delicious, the borscht soup, amazing ! There was so much more on the menu that I didn’t get an opportunity to try, and I can’t wait to come back next!

Long overdue review but I have been busy in travels… In my travels I’ve yet to come across such great customer service, as I did here at Max’s with Beverly! The food is great as well! A go to spot when I am in the area. Worth the bucks!

If someone asked me about my experience I would say«it was ok». When we arrived we were seated in a booth that was dirty… So dirty that I know the table before us had calamari and green beans. We ordered the clam chowder, chicken wings and shrimp tacos. My parents really enjoyed the shrimp tacos and they were very well presented. The clams in the chowder were«tough». My chicken wings had a nice flavor but some of the bones were not whole… Like broken in half. It was kind of odd but none the less good! Next time I would try the chicken pot pie I think! Also on a side note: there was a waitress in there with 50 million earrings on… I couldn’t help but think«damn I hope one doesn’t fall off in my Dad’s soup.» I’m all about self expression but dang! Overall ok homemade food and I would try it again.

I didn’t eat here my first night at the Holiday Inn, but I regret that now. Originally the reviews kept me away but I presently shocked, the service was prompt and friendly the décor inside is stylish yet comfortable. Casual dress, its next to a Holiday Inn Express so you already knew that. I ordered the Grandmas Roasted Chicken with mash and a career salad. The salad was not swimming in dressing like you find at a lot of places, the parm was powdered though and the croutons may have brown salt cubes. The chicken was great with a crispy skin and most meat, HUGEPORTION! A slightly sweet buy balanced pan sauce accompanied. The brusslesprouts were good bit not much else to be said about them. Could have done with a steak knife but it was tender enough to use my butter knife and I didn’t feel like troubling them to ask. $ 2 off draft beer till 7

Great prices. Good food. I had the 10 Oz burger and could only finish half. Good Mac n cheese for kids. Hubbies Philly cheesesteak was decent, not the best he’s had though. Our waitress Margarita was fabulous!

Surprisingly good! Place looks like it’s been here for forever, decoration-wise. Extensive menu and it all looked really good. I had a greek salad and my mom had the open face egg sandwhich — hers looked really good and it was. My only compliant was the server was almost at our table too much… almost didn’t let us be. He tried to take away my salad bowl a couple of times and I was still chewing telling him no, clearly I’m still eating. Recommended for groups as its a large place. They also had a large bar area. The cakes looked good!

The menu has gone from a virtually a book of options to a front and back page option. The prices have increased while the quality has decreased. The sandwiches used to be a guarantee take home half for later but they have decreased the ingredients in the sandwich and now they are good for one meal. Our family used to look forward to coming to Max’s but now we won’t even consider it an option anymore after our experience on Saturday the 11th. The beet salad was mostly chopped lettuce. The fried chicken was a blob of batter and dry. The cabbage soup doesn’t have the ‘bite’ it used to and the appetizers were lack luster. It is unfortunate to see this because we have been going to Max’s since it opened. Make up your own mind though because this might be the place for you.

Solid dining option. Probably 3 or 4 star food. Jeff, our waiter, was fantastic! The service is phenomenal. The ambiance and the décor are authentically old school. Get desert. Trust me.

I go here every time I’m in the area. Good food and huge menu. Open until 10pm on weekdays which is great when I’m in the area on business and booked with appointments!
