30 minute closing call? — Do not go during the last hour they are open. Employees are rude and reluctant to do anything that will dirty their stations. Meat department is closed and covered up. Sandwich station is the same. If you ask for assistance expect an unfriendly, uninterested & discourteous response. It is painfully obviously they only care about going home. For the high price tag, the customer service should be A+. But they are just not up to par for the market and area they are in. 2 blocks over Safeway is 24 hours and happy to take my money. I even make the trek to Whole Foods to avoid this place.

Their fresh squeezed orange juice is so good. The staff there are very friendly and helpful. It feels good to shop there.

Love this market… it’s like a small version of Whole foods. Price is just right up there and maybe a tad more expensive! Can’t beat the fresh soup though. It was a good choice for a cold day. And their freshly squeeze orange juice is phenomenal!

I have a love hate relationship with Mollie Stone’s. It’s not my first choice for groceries. Most items I can find at Safeway for cheaper though their produce is better. They do have a great cheese section though. I tend to buy my proteins and produce from Whole Foods.
Mollie Stone’s has that small town grocery store feel to it. It’s a warm and welcoming environment to walk into. Some days they’ll have a guy playing live music, yes, LIVE MUSIC, near the deli. They can be super friendly and super slow, just like small town USA. I didn’t grow up in that environment, and being from the east coast I still struggle with the slow pace of many places in California. When you’re in a hurry coming to Mollie Stone’s can be hell.
I do come here for sandwiches though, and this is where I struggle with my rating. Some days I’d give it 5 stars. Other days I’d give it 1 star. Two of my biggest concerns with their deli is consistency and time management.
I’ve had sandwiches made by just about everyone in their deli dept. I wish I can remember the guy’s name but the older gentlemen with the mustache and hat makes them the best. And he’s always super friendly.
There is no consistency on how they make sandwiches. No 1 member of their team will make them the same as any other. You’ll walk away with less meat sometimes, way more lettuce than a sandwich should hold on other occasions. Or they’ll completely miss ingredients you request, even when it’s written on their own forms.
Today my sandwich had 1 slice of meat on it. Yesterday it had a good ½″ of meat on it. Today it was completely dry, even though I requested oil & vinegar. I’ve had what appeared to be half a head of lettuce on a sandwich at times.
My other gripe is how long it takes to actually make a sandwich here. I’ve ordered two sandwiches that are mirrors of each other except for the protein. Both would have bacon, both have the same type of cheese, and both have the same lettuce, tomato, onion, pepperoncini, and oil & vinegar.
Common sense would tell you to prep them both together. Common sense says I need 4 pieces of bacon for 2 sandwiches, I’ll heat them both up together.
That never happens. At Mollie Stone’s they make one sandwich and put everything away. Then pull the bacon out again for the second sandwich and heat that up. Pull the cheese out again and slice that. It’s really not that difficult.
I’ve worked a deli before. I’ve also worked in other food prep businesses. I’ve never been trained that way. You’re trained to multi-​task, save yourself time.
I would love for Mollie Stone’s to pull all the members of their Deli team aside one morning and teach them how to properly make a sandwich. Teach them how many slices of protein go on a sandwich. The proper amount of lettuce or onions. Today’s sandwich was a disgrace and not worth the $ 9 I paid for it.

Agree with many posts here that the checkout experience is awful. Does Mollie Stone’s management actually run a class for new check out employees on how to ignore customers? One of my favorite games they like to play is to leave their checkout lights off, stand just far enough away from the register to make it seem that the line is closed, and when asked if they are open… ignore you. Brilliant! I work across the Street from this store and have gone here for years but today was the last straw. I’ll walk an extra block and shop with the «commoners» at Safeway until they install automated check outs and remove these clowns.

The meat and produce quality is very good. Decent wine selection, However, what I have noticed is that they run out of items on occasion. Today we went in at 6:45 pm (still dinner time for lots of people) and there were no more hot soups, nor anything left in the hot food section.
I guess the ‘tip’ is to get there early way before dinner if you want anything in the ‘cooked foods’ part of the store for dinner.

We love frequenting this location as it provides FRESH and LOCALLY sourced items throughout the entire store — Acme bread, Boars head, Beckman’s, Redhill Rainbow eggs (the best), Clover Dairy, Harris Ranch Meats, just to name a few. Love buying decadent and imported European cheeses that are rich in flavor and texture. Just not something you can find at your local mainstream market. I especially appreciate the service that I receive at this particular Mollie Stone’s location. The Burlingame manager Mark is just an absolute joy, a real good guy. It’s so impressive how he knows EVERYONE’S name — just really makes you feel welcomed as you walk through the doors. This location is so efficiently run that I am able to run in and out with a hearty load of groceries in a quick 30 minute dash. So, thank you Mark and the Mollie Stone’s Burlingame team. You guys rock!

Came to order a sandwich and the older, thin white haired man in the deli was at the sink dumping buckets and maybe washing them and came right to the counter and made sandwiches WITHOUT even changing his gloves!!! SO GROSS!!! You would expect more from Mollie Stone!!! Sandwiches are always yummy so I had to give an extra star for that!

Their sandwiches are freaking amazing! Gotta get the dutch crunch… it’s always perfect. Plus their customer service is great.

Usually our hang our spots every in between biking exercises. We usually have thr taste of their pure orange juice, browse around their cheese and dessert section for some goodies. They are just slow a bit due to plenty of customers waiting for their deli sandwiches. Just a little selection on the cake aisle and ice cream, thank God they finally introduced Three Twins Ice Cream. The produce section though is always fresh and some of the food is a lil over-​priced…

I love this mollie stone’s.It always clean and as soon as you enter the smell of fresh fruits and vegetables just welcomes you in.
It’s a bit pricier than other places, but they have a lot of organic products. Their meat and seafood always look super fresh and high quality.
Their cooked food/​deli is great. They have great sandwiches and food in general. The staff is always helpful and always smiling.

Very dangerous parking lot. Cluttered with shopping carts. When one hit my car it caused hundreds of dollars of damage. They would not pay for repairs, even tho I shop there 3 times a week. There is no signage like park at your own risk. I would never park there again for fear of future damage. They were very cold and told me it was an «act of God». Used to love this store, but don’t park there!!!
They have since repaved the parking area and so I feel less concerned about accidents. My little dent cost$ 700 so that did worry me
The butcher shop is very accommodating ! Great little grocery store.

VERY BAD service at the checkout.
My husband and I felt the lady at the cashier ignored us. She just talked with her co-​worker not us.
We will NEVER shop at this store again.

I got to check out a Mollie Stone’s since that was the nearest health food when we were on the road while I was in town visiting. It reminded me of Whole Foods (in Hawaii I’m used to Whole Foods, or Down to Earth which is completely vegetarian). They were about to close so it was pretty empty, and it’s hard to compete with Whole Foods but otherwise they had a good selection of things in there and prices seemed comparable.
I saw a whole Cheese section on one corner of the store, and a whole deli counter area too. I would have given 4 stars but I remember that the staff that night was okay but not super nice which I’m used to seeing elsewhere. could have been that we were still shopping right before closing? Still. not any excuse not to make patrons feel welcome.
With that said, I still want to go back and check it out. I’m open to giving places a second chance. next time just not go when they’re about to close and really get a chance to check the store out aisle by aisle.

Fresh fish delivery every day except Sunday. Friendly stuff with local corner-​shop vibe is definitely my go to place for grocery in Burlingame. They’ve got almost everything there including buckwheat, nori seaweed wraps and French goat cheese.

Best little grocery store in Bgame. Great produce, full beer, wine and liquor section, and tons of vegan products, like Daiya, Field Roast, Earth Balance, Tofurky, etc. Also a vitamin and supplement section that rivals Whole Foods, and amazing, friendly employees. Definitely pick Mollie’s over Safeway since they’re right next to each other. Love this place!

I walked into Mollie Stones Friday, with my backpack. I was then yelled at by the manager to leave my backpack with a cashier named Josh. I have never seen a person not of color being told to leave their bag at a cashier who is not watching your bag so it could possibly be stolen, with a thousand dollar plus laptop. I will not be patronizing this location anymore.

Do you want to know why I love Mollie Stone’s? Do you really want to know?* Now I’ve built it up unnecessarily since it’s really not THAT great, here goes:
Sliced portabella mushrooms. (I know, your mind is blown.)
Everywhere else, there’s a serious markup if you want anything pre-​sliced. Here, the little box of sliced baby bellas is the same price as the box of unsliced baby bellas. Everywhere else they make me pay through the nose if I want to be lazy; here, I can bask in my indolence.

This is really only my back up grocery store when I visit my brother. I think I am done here after today.
I came in to buy 4 things — a boneless ham, shortening for biscuits, a jar of honey and some organic broccoli. I got my produce and went straight to the butcher. I found 4 small (too small) hams, all of which were discolored and clearly had gone bad. I called one of the butchers over and showed him. He half-​chuckled at me and said they were fine and cry-​o-​vac-​ed and therefore not a problem. So these had been opened, cut and re-​sealed. And that color of grey was NOT okay.
I explained that I was a chef and I knew when meat had started to turn and he assured me they were fine, but he would cut me a new one (hello, proof they had been opened and cut). The other butcher stated they were out of stock and so I was told I would need to buy one they had. I explained they were too small AND rotting. I also told him they should be removed from the case. He ignored me again.
I left with the kids and loudly explained why I left my basket on a counter by the front as I passed a manager. I was not going to buy any food from a store who sells rotting meats and ignores warning from a customer. And, by the way, laughs at me in the process.
I’m sorry for whoever buys one (or all) of those hams and gets sick. I won’t shop there again. I drove past the house and went back to Lunardi’s who had very fresh hams in the meat case.
