I’m from Burlington, and concluded«World’s Greatest Burger» is mostly«self-proclaimed». I’ve eaten here on a couple occasions and proclaim«Good Burger». The homemade chips are up to the patron. Either you like them, or like regular French Fries. I like Fries! The Tony Romo shrine is a bit too much!

My favorite burger joint in Wisconsin! Great home made chip-fries too… with cheese of course. Since it expanded a few years back it is even more accommodating with space. Great tap beers too. My sons favorite are the mac-n-cheese balls — excellent. You can make it in and out quick or sit and enjoy a game with great apps, entrees and drinks.

Wow. This place is great. From the outside I just wasn’t sure, but once you walk in it opens up and you immediately know you made he right choice. Burgers are awesome.

The burgers are amazing. The toppings are nothing special but the actual burger is cooked to perfection. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because we went back another day to try out their«world famous cookies» assuming they’d be just as good as the world famous burgers but they were awful. They tasted like they’d been sitting out for a week. Burgers and homemade chips — yes! Cookies — no!

Fred’s used to be a great place for a burger… not so much anymore. Since they added on it has not been the same. Burgers get smaller every time I visit. This is NOT a great burger, average at best. Just left there and will not go back. Placed our order and 20 minutes later came our fry’s and mushrooms. 20 minutes after that came our less than average burgers. Passed Culvers to go to Fred’s, wont make that mistake again.

My horseradish burger was average. My wife’s pot roast sandwich was very bland even with the small container of au jus that accompanied it. The biggest disappointment were the curly fries. We ordered the large, the portion was quite small. They were soggy, clumped together and incredibly greasy. We ate a few but couldn’t stomach the grease. Maybe the deep fryer wasn’t hot enough. On the flip side, the décor and atmosphere were nice. Service was very friendly and timely. When you walk into a joint that has neon sign proclaiming«Best Burger in the World» you expect a little more. Sorry guys, not even close.

I travel all over Northern IL and Southern WI. So I’ll start by saying there are just so many places in this area the have great burger and not many have a true claim. The atmoshphere is simple and great. The tater teaser is a nice change up. The burger is just great, flavor size and cooked to perfection. Reccomended.

We went there for the first time this week. The food was very good and the burgers were great. It is a fun place. We go to Lake Geneva a couple times a year and will be sure to comeback to Fred’s.

Always a hit! We drive up with our kids from the Chicago area just for burgers at Freds, they are THAT good! The burgers are perfectly done; love the toasted bun! The home made chips are addictive, the jalapeño poppers are perfectly hot and tasty. The mac n cheese bites, corn nuggets, deep fried pickles, all good. Atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Perhaps a little heavy on the green and yellow décor, but otherwise fun place to dine! ;)

Great burgers. I love their burgers like seriously if I could take home a hundred and wear them all year long I would have a freezer full. But sadly I can not because my paycheck isn’t that big they have great beers I tap too. Lots of local taps. Good atmosphere for all parties, kids, adults.

Even before we moved to Burlington, we visited Fred’s once per year to celebrate my husband’s birthday(he’s a Cowboys fan). Awesome burgers and chips! The only complaint I have is that the curly fries are not crunchy at all, just soggy. Go for the chips!

For an establishment that claims the world’s best burger, I will have to kindly disagree but it was definitely not the worst burger I’ve ever had. The fries were pretty bad though. Get the jalapeño poppers. The service is what bumped my score up one star. Sweetest bar lady working her butt off. Super busy place. Difficult and confusing to get a seat. No type of system or order whatsoever.

It is a good place to go with a group of people. I wouldn’t say that they have the world’s best burger, but they aren’t awful. The seasonally be pico de mayo burger is pretty awesome though, is not on the menu but it’s in the specials board.

Fun little spot. Very casual and kid friendly. You order at the bar and they bring food to your table. It was a bit of a wait but they serve spotted cow so it didn’t seem so bad. The kids meal came with fries. Adult burgers did not. The garlic and Swiss burger came on a great garlic bread roll.(I ordered better than my husband who had the nacho jalapeño burger that was topped with the cheap nacho yellow cheese sauce that you get on nacho chips at a ball park). The hash browns stuffed with cheese and jalapeño was good and a large portion to share if you are in a spicy mood.

I have had 100s of burgers all over America and this place has unmistakably one of my top 3 burgers I have ever had in my life anywhere. Great beef recipe, and the bun is to die for. Perfection achieved!

Probably one of the better places I’ve tried for burgers. Also their cheese fries are impressive too! We took a day trip up to wiscolnsin and found this little joint. It seems to be the hit of the town and by the taste of the food I see why. If you happen to be up in this area definetely try Fred’s for a burger. It’s the type of burger you won’t forget!

I absolutely love the burgers and their homemade chips. They are delicious. I may not always get a burger(sometimes I will get a salad or grilled cheeses, etc) but I always make sure I get an order of their homemade chips.

I always love it when places make outlandish claims — for example, Sun Prairie WI claims to be the«Groundhog Capital of the World». Did the international groundhog council issue a ruling on this? Anyway, Fred’s claims to have both«the world’s best burger» and the«world’s friendliest people». I’m not sure about the first one but I probably won’t argue too much with the latter. I kind of expected Fred’s to be a divey bar but it’s really very nice inside and certainly someplace you wouldn’t feel bad bringing the kids for lunch. They’re huge on local sports with high school team photos everywhere and memorabilia from a certain NFL quarterback prominently displayed. The burgers are absolutely good — you can tell they’re made fresh and by hand and they’re served on a quality bun. Overall, it reminded me a lot of Night Owl on the South Side — not too greasy but very juicy. The fries on the other hand were an abomination — they’re also handmade and spiral cut but they just weren’t good — at all. Super greasy and not crispy and nothing I’d want again. If you don’t like burgers, they’ve got other sandwiches and lots of deep fried snack options for you. The people are truly friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable. I’d come back. Just for fun, here are some other bizzaro town slogans(these are for real, people!): Ashland Tops Wisconsin(ummm… no comment?) Belleville, WI — The UFO capital of the world(not Roswell then?) Cambridge, WI — The Umbrella City(bless your heart…) Pittsfield, WI — The Exact Geographical Center of the State(bet this one packs ‘em in!) Waupun, WI — The Wild Goose Capital(not«we got a big jail»?) Who comes up with this stuff?

Best burger in the World? Probably not. Best burger in Wisconsin? No, but probably in the conversation. Best burger in the county? I’ll give them that. Favorite bar/grill in Racine/Kenosha/Walworth county? Absolutely. After noticing fellow MKE Unilocaler Kyle K. check in her 39 times in the past few years, I felt it was time to check it out. The wife and I were in the area and since it was lunch time, the Packer game was on, and I like burgers, I was drawn to Fred’s. I was expecting more of a greasy spoon-type diner, was was very wrong. Fred’s is a family-friendly well-light bar and grill. While most of the menu is burgers and deep fried goodness, there are a few chicken and grilled options there too. Being our first time, we had to order burgers. I went with the ½# Mushroom & Swiss, while the wife ordered a simple ½# Cheeseburger. They were both good, properly grilled, just the right amount of grease, but neither of us were blown off of our bar stools. We also ordered fries which were quite forgettable. So far this doesn’t sound like a four star review, right? Well, don’t get me wrong. We loved the place. The people behind the bar were very friendly and very welcoming. I loved the local décor; lots of high school sports themed displays. If course you can’t ignore the most famous local athlete. If I have to tell you who it is, you should be slapped. So, let me tell you about another: Bill«Kaz» Kazmaier, 3x World Strongest Man champion, and winner of countless powerlifting competitions. Why have you never heard of him? Well, quite simply, he’s not a douche, and he never dated Jessica Simpson. Truly a world-class athlete, Kaz knew what it took to win; he never choked when the pressure was on. Now a commentator on the Strong Man circuit, Kaz is revered as a living ledgend, kind of like Bart Star or Dan Marino or Joe Namath. Why aren’t their any homages to Kaz in this town? Anywho. Here’s what you need to know in a nut shell: 1. Solid burger. 2. Solid beer list. 3. Solid employees. When in the Chocolate City, Fred’s is the solid choice!
