Generally, it’s a pretty okay, mall Chinese joint, but those wings are bonkers delicious. They’re like juicy pillows, like cartoon chicken.

Pretty good food but the real draw is the portion = huge. It’s big enough to share for two. Yes it’s in the food court at the mall but it really is tasty and well worth it. It’s not something your going to go out of your way but it’s worth the try if your shopping.

Oh man, do I feel like a hypocrite for bashing Americanized Chinese take-out joints like this in the past. Master Wok has grown on me. Since starting my job near the Burlington Mall 8 months ago, I’ve been going to their food court with varying frequency, anywhere between once every 2 weeks to almost every weekday. Let me tell you Master Wok is the only vendor there that I still go to nowadays. Why? Delicious greasy Americanized Chinese takeout with plenty of options, given in ABUNDANCE both for rice and meat/veggies, at very reasonable prices, and leaves you feeling satisfied(on top of the inevitable sense of guilt). Let’s be real here, if I forget about health effects for a second, it’s better than most of countless other Chinese take-out restaurants I’ve been to. If health is a concern, I’d still take it over your typical burger and fries any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Having tried their various menu items, I recommend the Boneless Spareribs(flavorful and not overly fatty like at many other Chinese takeouts) — and the General Gao’s Chicken(sweet and a good balance between crispy and soft). Add veggies so you don’t die of shame afterwards, and you’ve got yourself a solid 3-choice combo that’s 10% healthy, 20% MSG and 100% tasty(by food court standards). Don’t come here if you want hot-served, wholesome, Sichuan Gourmet-level food and good service. If you feel like having a cheat day(of which I have a little too many) and happen to be in the Burlington Mall, this is the best value you’ll get.

You don’t go to Master Wok at the Burlington Mall for the atmosphere… If you take it for what it is — Americanized Chinese take-out — you’ll have appropriate expectations for what it is. And for that, I’ve had consistently good food(that might not be the best for you). I always get General’s Chicken and fried rice. Last night, I kicked it up a notch and got some of the Boneless Spare Ribs too. The chicken was sweet and tangy. The fried rice was more than adequate, with peas, carrots, egg, and onion in the mix. The Boneless Spare Ribs added a nice change to my usual routine. I wouldn’t make a special trip but if you’re at the mall and want a good bit of chinese take-out then don’t overlook Master Wok.

5 stars for the excellent lo mein and general chicken when they’re fresh from the kitchen. The food is very greasy and unhealthy, though. Minus 2 stars for the inevitable unpleasant trip to the bathroom, but still totally worth it. I have yet to have learned my lesson. I’ll be back.

Master Wok can be found in The North shore Mall as well as here at the Burlington Mall. The food is «OK» — they offer noodles, rice, general tso’s chicken, crab rangoon, etc. — the food isn’t always hot so it’s a toss up since you won’t know until you receive the food — HOT Chinese food here = good!, COLD Chinese food here = not so much… Also the place itself looks old and not well kept which to me is off putting. It’s very dark, the pictures of food on the wall are faded and the lighting behind them and the menu are constantly flickering as if the bulbs should be changed. Obviously this doesn’t affect the taste of the food — but appearance counts for something.
