I have been to many other, several better, sushi restaurants, but I will always have a place in my heart for Sakura. I had sushi for the first time ever here. It was love at first bite. Of course, I got a little over zealous with the wasabi the first time I tried it, so this is also the first restaurant I’ve ever cried in. That said, I never had a bad meal here. The standard three roll combo is always a delight-they even let you sub spicy tuna for regular. I’m in love with their ume roll(I’ve not found one that compares since). I’m also a huge fan of their inari and the double punch roll. Mmmmm. When I go to Japanese restaurants, it’s 99% likely I will get a roll combination, but I’ve ventured into other realms at Sakura and their teriyaki salmon bento box is not to be missed. Also, I strongly recommended capping your meal with a mai-thai or a saketini. Their drinks mean business!

I miss Sakura! Yes the sushi was awesome but my favorite roll(even though I’m a raw fish fan) was the Sweet Potato Tempura roll. They made it so delicious, it was even good if you did take-out and tempura usually gets soggy when you do take-out. Hope it reappears somewhere nearby soon!
