I stopped here today out of the blue just for nostalgia reasons. My father would take us here as kids. I didn’t even know places like this still existed, they are for sure a dying breed. They still hang the tray for your window. So cool! Pulled up in the spot with the lights on, service was really fast and very friendly considering it was a beautiful day and busy. I ordered a California cheeseburger which comes with a tomato slice, raw onion and thousand island. I also ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. The burgers come plain so you need to be specific as to what toppings you want. The fries are simple crinkle cut but cooked to perfection. Let’s be clear that the burgers here are very good, but this is not a gourmet restaurant. This is one of those places where you get a good meal for your dollar. Topped the meal off with an ice cold root beer! Amazing!!! Service was great and the food was great. I’ll be sure to bring dad over the bridge and treat him to lunch. Solid 4 stars

This place is a dying breed of a bygone era. Back in the 50’s this was the only place locally to get fast food, long before Micky D’s, Burger King etc. The ones in lawrenceville & hamilton square have closed. So wanting their famous root beer i have to drive a bit further. But they are all very similar. Except belle mead nj, they enclosed the counter area so you can eat 12 months a year instead of 5. Their food offerings have always tasted better than the chains. Plus they are a better quality. So you may pay a bit more but think about it, you would want to cause you want the good stuff in your tank. Your kids tanks too. This location is only open in the warmer months. So we must wait until it warms up to get the good stuff. I know they sell their burgers frozen & while they are close by comparison they do not taste as good as the stands version. So hurry up Mother Nature I want a california burger & large root beer.

Back before I became vegetarian I use to eat here so much the California burgers are soo good. After I became vegetarian I would just come to get a grilled cheese or the fries, which are alright, but then they started having the crab-cake burger. I started eating seafood soo I thought i’d try it out. For only $ 3 it was pretty damn good, and I was there bout a couple times a week again just like I use to be before I became vegetarian. The service is always amazing and nice so it’s an all around great establishment.

Awesome seasonal location. The employees are great folks and the food is exactly what you would expect. Be sure to bring cash as they don’t accept credit, ATM50m away at the gas station however.

Stewart’s always has fast friendly service. Stewart’s is a drive in so if you don’t like eating in your car this is not the place for you. When you are ready to order you just turn on your lights and someone will be with you in minutes. They have all sorts of classics and they just added a few new products to their menu last year including onion rings and cheese fries. They have the best onion rings I have ever eaten! If you order a grilled cheese be mindful that it comes on a hamburger bun. Most of the servers will tell you that it comes on the hamburger bun though!

Definitely a family favorite for us and a neat experience. My dad introduced me to this several years ago and I carried this tradition on with my husband and children. We’ve never had anything we didn’t like. We’ve had their amazing French fries, grilled cheese, hot dogs, cheeseburgers and California burgers and pork roll sandwiches. We’ve never had a bad experience and the staff is always extremely attentive and friendly.

If you’re going through Burlington City in the Summertime, make stopping at Stewart’s a must. For many of us, it’s a tradition. This Stewart’s has been there since the dawn of time. The property is always well kept up; in the off season, you’ll find the parking lot being repainted and relined. The building is always fresh looking. I remember when the orange and white overhang wasn’t there, that’s how far back I know the place! Love their menu. The root beer float is a must, and I do love their milkshakes. They offer pork roll and cheese on a roll, which is excellent — but I like my pork roll with sauerkraut instead. No problem! You want it? Let them know and they’ll make it. My husband loves the hot dogs«with everything». If you’re heading northbound on Rte. 130, stop in. If you’re headed southbound, take the jughandle just past Stewart’s and make your way across the highway and into their parking lot. You’ll be glad you did.

I’ve passed by this gem on more than one occasion before my wife and I made the turn in to see what all the hype was about. Wow. Truly an exceptional drive-in tray service. Parking is plenty and the staff immediately came out to greet us. We ordered dogs, fries and pierogi’s. Legit. We put the lights on when we needed service and the staff was out there within no time, with no complaints, cheerful and friendly. We’ll definitely be back again!

This place has been a staple in our community for years. My family would pile into the car a few times each summer and head up to enjoy a burger and french fries with a large cold Stewart’s root beer. It is definitely a place you have to go at least once a summer(its not open year round… I don’t know anyone who wants to eat in their car in the snow). The food is amazing, I have never had anything there I did not like, BUTKNOW that everything is served on a burger bun or hot dog bun(grilled cheese is on a burger bun folks!). So I know I love this place but I just can’t give it five stars for two reasons. Number one is it can get a bit pricey for simple things and orders can add up quickly so if you are trying to budget definitely keep track of what you are getting. Second their is no outside seating. I know its a drive up restaurant, but they used to have bar seating back in the day but got rid of that! The only way they can accommodate a group larger than the amount of people you can fit in your car is to park on the outside circle and sit in the grass or on the parking lot ground which is not overly appealing unless you are looking to picnic. I will definitely continue to go back to this place each year until it no longer exists, but more so since it has become a much loved tradition in our family.

This is a great retro experience! Take you back to the Fifty’s. Pull in, turn on your headlights on a server will approach you. And just choose from their unique menu, and in a few minutes you have a tray attach the side of your car with your order. The root beer is fantastic, the burgers and other sandwiches are average but they offer some unique items like pork roll and cheese. Definitely worth the trip for nostalgia alone. Prices are very fair, and the service is good. They’re only open in the summer, so I get there when you can!

Stewart’s root beer is the nectar of the gods. The way they serve it in that frosty mug… I always want more than a large. The food is yummy, pretty much what you’d expect, SteakUmm like cheesesteaks, burgers, and(my favorite) hot dogs that are fried so they have a little bite to them. The food is always super hot & fresh, you’ll have to wait a few minutes to eat your crinkle fries. I’ve never tried the infamous Scramburger, but the waiter described it to me as a sloppy Joe without the sauce. The grilled cheese is a hamburger bun with a slice of cheese & seems steamed rather than grilled, but my kid likes it. I was tempted to dock a star for them being closed a lot(they’re pretty strict on the seasonal thing; seems like they’re closed too soon in September, plus closed Sundays & for a random week when the owners take a vacation) but I guess that’s not really fair. The root beer makes up for that.

This is my all time favorite thing in New Jersey, ever. I started eating here as a little girl and have never gotten over the scramburger. Something about the onions, the ketchuppy flavor, the spices on the ground beef. all inside of that juicy roll. Wow. They are so delicious and you can’t get them anywhere else. My great aunt and uncle used to get scramburgers here back when they were dating in the 1940s. Apparently the place never changed. Go with a black cow and you won’t be sorry. The french fries are fresh and crinkly. I wish I could get a scramburger right now.

Stewart’s Drive In Tray Service, or simply Stewart’s, as it’s know around town, truly is a staple of Burlington. It’s a can’t miss from Rt. 130. Classic drive in service mixed with AMAZING food. Service is usually fast as well, with the servers always friendly. Cheese California Burger and the Chili Dogs are the best, with a big mug of root beer of course. The ONLY reason that this doesn’t get 5 stars, is because it can be a bit pricey for simple fast food, depending on what you get.
