The menu has been much improved since when this place first opened. Looks like there are quite a few new items being offered. I came here with a friend and had the chicken and waffles, which were delicious and served with mashed potatoes. We sat at one of the high tables near the bar and our server was very attentive and friendly.

The customer service at this location can be charitably described as «piss poor». I would say the staff are genuinely annoyed that someone might actually wish to become a customer and be seated in the restaurant. I’d hate to be the guy who gives a place a bad review just because of service. God knows there are a million places with awful service and fantastic food. Rest assured this is not one of them. The food is disgusting and overpriced. Drinks likewise. Avoid like the plague.

Went for a quick lunch today. Atmosphere and service was fine, food was just flat out bad. Started with the chicken tender appetizer with Mongolian sauce. So salty it was difficult to eat. Main dishes ordered were the Cowboy burger and the Cuban sandwich. The Cuban was missing the ham, and the burger was so overdone that it was actually blackened. Not one to usually complain, but we did point it out to the server and she was kind enough to take the burger off the bill. The manager also stopped by to apologize and give us a $ 10 coupon to come back.

Had dinner with friends and ordered a Tuscan sandwich. The bread was too soft and the sandwich small. Replaced the french fries with grilled asparagus but they were over salted. The service was good.

Horrible to say the least. We ordered fried pickles, cheese fries and boneless chicken wings. This bar does not know how to fry food. It was all soggy. The pickles were the worst, they looked good and we were very excited to eat them. They were nasty. The food also took a very long time. Service was good but sadly won’t return.

The Sunday Brunch buffet was just awesome. The buffet is large and gives you many choices. The service was wonderful. The server was attentive and courteous. The ambiance is OK. It is a huge place with plenty of seating. Great buffet for less than $ 20 !!

First time going here, and was a bit dubious. I thought the prices would be higher, and the quality lower. Called ahead, as I was going there on a Friday night, when we arrived, we checked in and were seated almost immediately. The place definitely had a sports bar feel, with TVs everywhere(leave that to your personal preference…). Waitress came over, mentioned they had an excellent beer selection, said she’d be back. Upon her return, I inquired about the beer«fruit» flight, which had a grapefruit beer(and I loathe grapefruit), so I inquired about swapping, based on my preference. She checked with the bar, and they were amenable to swapping out that one beer(kudos to them!). Placed our drink and food order. Drinks came out, and soon after, our food. I ordered the salmon on cedar plank with a honey-mustard glaze, and it definitely exceeded my expectations. The jasmine rice on the side was a bit flavorless, but the green-beans were fabulous. My wife ordered the pulled pork & onion ring sandwich plate, and enjoyed every bite. We were both pleased with our meals and our drinks, so we’ll make a point of trying them out again!

Large group, consisting of woman ! Jeff made sure we were all happy through out the night. The food was great! And the drinks kept coming. I was happy with my portion of the bill. Good customer service and affordable. I would recommend Tavern in the Square to others…

Came here for the brunch and it was definitely worth the trip! The brunch is a buffet and it was fresh with an assortment of options. Although it was busy we did not have to wait for long. Sometimes buffets will have sketchy or not fresh food and this isn’t one of those places. They restock and keep hot fresh options throughout the brunch. From savory to sweet they have it all! They even do custom omelettes and bring it to your table after filling out a small piece of paper indicating how you want it done. I really enjoyed the chicken/waffle/mashed potato/bacon slider and the polenta. Great value for the amount of food and quality of food. It is busy so expect a wait but we were told 1 hour which ended up being only 27 minutes. Non alcoholic beverages are included in the brunch price so it really is a great deal. Highly recommend it.

Really loud in here but they serve food late and the service is good. I ordered the mac and cheese. I enjoyed it but it was kind of… boring. Maybe I should try them again and select something different. We also got spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. Here’s what really threw me off– the chips with it were fried in some type of peanut oil which gave them a HORRIBLE taste. Someone should look into that. Everything feels overpriced as well. But it seems like a good hangout and drink spot for those looking for lowkey night life.

I usually don’t have an issue with tavern in the square but this particular location is the worst of the bunch. Why? Too many TV monitors. I can’t enjoy my meal or my company while constantly being assaulted by these moving pictures. I wish they’d consider taking a few down.

The selection of food during sunday brunch was great. Eggs benedict with pulled pork, omelettes, hash browns, meat, pancakes, chicken and waffles, butterscotch pancakes, etc. That was a huge plus. We had two kids, i am gluten free, so there was something for everyone. Our server joe was nice and personable. I didnt like how he and the 2 managers i spoke to handled our issue though. My niece got a piece of chocolate cake(or 2) was halfway through and pulled out a long hair that didnt fit anyone at our table. We didnt cause a scene i politely asked the manager for a new fork for her since there was hair on hers and they just brought a new set of silverware no apology(heavier set male manager) then we told our server joe that we let the manager know… he apologized which was more than we got from the manager, then he sent over a female supervisor(someone with a prettier face than his-he said) to apologize again. Now at this point you would think since everyone knows they would do something. They left that cake out for people to eat, and did not comp the meal for the 12 year old who just ate fruit after that. The whipped cream tastes a little gritty, not light and airy like normal. The ice cream was so hard people were putting whole arms into scooping and coming out with ice cream on them-so i opted out of ice cream. The chicken and waffles the table loved since they came with mashed potatoes and bacon. The beef for the tacos is steak not ground beef. The kids were disappointed. Overall great selection. Good attempt at service, bad management and problem resolution. As long as they clean up their act i think it is a great place for weekend brunch.

This is a great bar to go to after work for Happy Hour with apps. It is your typical bar with big tv’s, crowds of people, and drinks. Their foods are better than average compared to other bars. When you come here, you don’t come for the food. You come here for the gatherings, like having a drink with a group of friends or co-workers after work. I would give this place a 3 for food and 4 for environment if you were to grab drinks with people in a laid back environment. The servers are typically responsive and friendly here.

Between 3 and 4 stars here — it depends on what you’re looking for Food: tried the truffle parmesan tator tots(a new menu item) — very tasty, maybe a hint too much truffle, would’ve liked if the parmesan was melted on; I order the fig&gorgonzola pizza as my meal — the waitress did warn me it was very sweet, I thought the fig and gorgonzola would balance out, but it was a little too sweet and had more shaved parmesan on top than gorgonzola; wide variety of beers(bottles and rotating draft) Service: did asked to be seated in the bar area and was seated in the restaurant side– not a huge deal to my friend and I… manager checked in on our tots, waitress was very attentive, we did have to ask for some water but besides that, no issues Ambience: Definitely a cool place to get drinks after work or meet-up with a friend, wouldn’t recommend taking a date here… it was quiet when I went with a friend which was nice, but I imagine it getting loud during games; both bar and restaurant seating available

Went here for lunch with my girlfriend and basically had a professional saleswoman as our waitress She immediately asked us if we want an appetizer of hummus, fried pickles or nachos. Like relax, how about you get a drink first She was so quick to insist on upgrading our beer sizes to a large My girlfriend ordered a salad with a side of a truffle Tator tots(we justified it with the salmon salad) and the waitress told us they are so big the side that we should just get an appetizer. We were confused but said ok. Sure enough the appetizer portion comes out as a big as ever and it was $ 12 when the side was $ 4, basically she confused us with her words and upsold(and I’m an attorney so you know she had to be good bc she tricked me too) We ate about 40% of our meals and were clearly so full and just wanted to get the check so we could go rest comfortably in our food comas but she kept trying to force dessert on us. Like relax stop being a car salesman on us, we’re here to just eat a meal not buy your whole menu Their fried pickles suck– way too crispy, all batter Buffalo tenders were equivalent to rubber chicken Tator tots were amazing

This is a pretty cool sports bar. They have food, they have TV’s, they have beer and drinks. That’s what a sports bar is in case you didn’t know. Our waitress was kind of a little overbearing. Like a nagging girlfriend asking if you’re okay every five minutes. Bitch, just leave us alone! I like how open the bar is, so I can people watch and see what everyone is eating and judge them for it. They turn the sound up for football games which I appreciate. I’d go back here, seating is comfortable.

Wow, I’ve actually been to this location plenty of times and just thought to review now haha. I’ve been here for lunch and dinner for drinks and food. It is always busy, which is a good thing. I seriously don’t mind the wait, because it is usually not long. And if there’s a wait, I go to the bar :) Service: I’ve never had bad service here, ever. Food: My go-to is usually a burger. I last had a chorizo burger and it was pretty good! Oh and definitely get the tater tots too, so good(which you can share with 2 – 3 people while drinking and be set). I’ve also had the chicken pot pie, which is gigantic and good! Drinks: Pretty good selection of beers(rotated now and then) and mixed drinks. Sometimes I make special requests to have them make me a Black N Blue(Guinness and Blueberry beer) or an AMF’er(don’t ask what it stands for, but it’s basically a Long Island Iced Tea but blue). Atmosphere: It’s a good mix of working professionals(young and old). Many tv’s there so it’s a good place to catch your sports games! Price: Fairly priced I’d say. It’s not a gourmet, high high end lunch or dinner, but it does the job. Conclusion: It is worth your while, in my opinion.

*Sunday brunch review* We arrived around 10:45AM and the parking lot was already full. Brunch starts at 10:00 Am and gets busy pretty quickly, I would recommend making reservations. The menu items change on a weekly basis but some of the stations remain constant(made to order omelette station, carving station, fruit station, salad station, HUGE dessert station, pastry station along with many breakfast and lunch entrees.) The omelette station was cool. Instead of waiting in line, we marked our order on a piece of paper and a food runner brought it to our table once it was ready. There were two different pancakes, the buttermilk version and an apple spice version. The egg benedicts were colossal and delicious. I went with the version with pulled pork and coleslaw. The poached egg was perfect and the yolk dripped nicely over my English muffin when I cut through it. The salad station looked good but I went for other fatty foods instead. We were totally stuffed and didn’t have any room for dessert. Since the display was so beautiful and enticing, we somehow made room. There was cakes, cookies, cannoilis, whoopie pies, doughnuts and even a make your own sundae bar. We’ll definitely be back! I think the brunch is great to celebrate with family of friends. They can even accommodate large parties in their«semi-private» space in the rear dining area. All you can eat brunch is available every Sunday from 10:00AM– 2:30PM.(I’d recommend getting there early to get dibs on desserts!) Price is $ 18.99 and includes a soda or coffee/tea(extra for OJ) If you wanted to imbibe with your brunch, the bloody mary’s and mimosas looked amazing1 The brunch is held at Tavern in the Square Burlington, Allston, Central Square, Northborouh, Porter Square and Salem. Service was super friendly. Management help with running of the foods and asked if everything was OK. Other servers and food runners were helpful and working as a team to turn the tables over quicker. On our way out, about 5 different staff members thanks us for coming in and told us to have a great day *note: that whole area is going through major renovation/construction. Traffic might be cumbersome and parking might be limited. There’s also detours that you have to work around. For pics, visit

Stopped here twice during our visit to Boston as this place was right down the street from our hotel and we were not disappointed. Service was friendly and the food and drinks were very tasty. Our server was Kelly F she was very friendly and efficient. She gave of drink suggestions which we enjoyed and spoke on the sites to see. We ordered the Big Dip Fries as an appetizer and the boyfriend and I both opted for the Chicken and Waffles with mashed potatoes and bacon! YUM Overall my thighs may not have been happy about this selection that but my mouth certainly was. LOL Try here !
