The Art of Shaving

Jacob is great. He is personable and not pretentious, very chill. He does an impeccable shave and is very detailed. You feel like a new person by the time he is finished and you feel like like you can trust that he will make you look your best.

Jacob is the best barber I’ve ever had! He is extremely friendly and his skill is second to none. He keeps the mood very light and makes you feel like VIP. You won’t find a better, more skillful person in the area.
As for the type of service, I definitely recommend getting the Royal Shave and Haircut. The best 75 minutes I’ve spent on myself in a long time. Pure relaxation.

My girlfriend got me one of their little «trial size» kits for Christmas as well as a traditional 35 minute shave. I was a little nervous going in for the shave as it was my first ever straight razor shave and I have pretty thick facial hair.
The traditional shave starts hot with a hot, steamed towel across the face, followed by a facial massage of pre-​shave oil. Follow this with another hot towel across the face to open all the pores up. Then they lather up your face with warm shaving cream that creates a relaxing feeling. Then comes the shave.
I believe they use a «Shavette» here, which is a straight razor that features disposable blades. Some people think this «isn’t a real shave,» but I’d prefer it because it’s more hygienic. Who know’s who else’s face has touched one of those traditional barber straight razors.
After shaving with the grain (the barber will take note of where your facial hair changes direction and adjust accordingly), they clean up your face and there goes another hot towel. They then lather you back up, change out the blade, and shave against the grain.
At completion, they cold towel you (with a hint of lavender) in order to close up the pores, minimize razor burn and ingrown hairs) and put on some of their aftershave lotion. I asked about their «Royal Shave» which for an additional fee features a kind of mask that goes on after and completely eliminates any redness from your face and makes the skin smooth. I will probably opt for this feature next time I go, which I definitely will return.
As for the retail portion, their products are expensive, yes, but you get what you pay for here. Since using their pre shave oil, shaving cream and aftershave lotion, my razor burn has definitely resided. I already had a shaving brush and safety razor from before, so I can’t speak to those products.

Jacob is the best in his field, bar none. His skill and exp. is amazing. It’s like you’ve traveled back in time when this profession was in it’s prime. He’s a Master, and you won’t find better.

Get their best shave and let yourself be pampered. Best 45 minutes I’ve spent in quite a while.
