Bushkill Falls

Every time we visit the Poconos, we come here. Absolutely breath takingly beautiful. The waterfalls are gorgeous and vibrant! The paths can be a little difficult if you’re not used to walking… that would be me! But I did manage to complete all of the trails — red included! (With minimal stopping and resting for pictures, of course!) Wear comfy shoes! I choose light weight sneakers in the summer and thicker, high riding boots for all of the other seasons! Never have an issue with bugs and have seen deer in the woods! Can’t go wrong with Busch Kill Falls!

Nice place to go for a long walk. Beautiful scenery and waterfalls. Even the hard route isn’t that bad. There is a lot of steps and a steady uphill part of the course that I wouldn’t recommend for supper fat bastards or small children.

Simply BEAUTTTTIFUL! The falls, the trees… everything about this place was BEAUTIFUL! It is amazing that this place exist.
Not a place for kids under 5 or 6.
I had my 2 year old… and barely walked around… it was too risky in my opinion, to go down all the trails…
Also, this place is not a trail to walk on if you have medical issues… a lot of stairs.
Staff were… eh. Not really super friendly…

Truly the Disney World of hiking.
Since this is a private park, there is a charge. $ 13.50 per adult. Parking was free. I felt as though the price was well worth it. Bushkill was well-​maintained. The steps, bridges, and paths were all in great shape-​nothing rickety, nothing broken, no vandalism. The bathroom was clean and well-​stocked. The admission fee is being put to good use.
Obviously, it is nothing like Niagara Falls but it is gorgeous. Well-​worth a visit.
Tip: Get there early. We left around 1 pm and the place was packed.

To call it the Niagra of anything is a bit of a stretch, but Bushkill Falls is worth seeing. We went recently (during the fall), so the foliage was really beautiful. It was VERY crowded when we arrived towards the end of the day but there was still enough room to stop along the way and take in the sights and get some good pictures.
The prices are a bit steep, for example the $ 13.50 admission fee and the $ 4 I paid for a small (but delicious) chunk of fudge from the food shop. Overall it’s a nice place to spend the day hiking and taking in the sights, especially if you go in the fall when the weather is perfect and the colors are pretty.

We came here on a beautiful fall day. If you want the easier walk, go straight to where the first main sign is. Once you get there, walk straight down to the bottom and turn right. Stay on the red trail and you will save your legs the torment of walking up a lot of stairs (relatively speaking). If you want to do the more difficult walk, then go left at the bottom.
Overall, the trails and condition of the place is really well maintained. The falls and views, especially for being in PA, were quite impressive.
I read several posts of the cost, but we just did the trail and thought it was a good deal (especially since there is a heck of a lot of maintenance needed.).
BTW, there are many picnic tables, so pack a lunch if you want.

Nice spot.
1) We used the red trail to hike the 8 waterfalls.
2) The best falls are Bushkill Main Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Bridesmaid Falls, Laurel Glen Falls, Pennell Falls. But the Main Falls and Bridal Veil Falls.
3) Only problem I have as a hiker is, nature should be free or there should a parking fee, NOT admission fee of $ 13.50 per person. This is absurd.

Although the scenery is beautiful and the trails well maintained, this is a tourist trap if I ever saw one. There is a cost to hike which isn’t cheap and then additional costs to do everything else (including a silly maze). The «wild life» museum needs a lot of TLC and takes about 45 seconds and if you choose to bring your own food, you can’t sit under the pavilion since they want you to buy from the cafeteria.
I understand the fee goes to park care but you should get more for your day pass especially if you are with little people and are limited to hiking the shorter trails. Also make sure to get their early! By time we left at 12:30, the line was down the parking lot and parking itself seemed scarce.
If we do end up going back, it won’t be for a couple of years.

I’ve had Bushkill Falls on my summer bucket list for a long time and finally got a chance to check it out. As many other reviewers state, arrive early or you’ll be stuck in line waiting for tickets. I got here at 11:30 on a saturday and it was a 15 minute wait, but I when I left around 2 the line must of been at least 30 min+. As an average to experienced hiker the red trail gave my body a good workout. Lots of stairs and I needed a few more breaks than I thought I would. If you are not in shape, stick with the green or yellow trail.
The red trail has very nice overlooks and views of the falls but some trails are very narrow and you have to wait while the family in front of you takes 500 pictures. Took me 90 minutes to walk the trail, only because I’m a fast walker but If I have more time next visit I’ll be checking out the other 3 trails. They also have paddle boats, mini golf and mining for gem stones along with gift shops, and a café. Its a good day trip but I do think its a tad over hyped. If you do visit arrive before 11 to avoid parking woes and big crowds.

Loved this place. Great views and lots of fun for the family. My husband and I went for my birthday. I wasn’t in a party mood. I’m so happy we picked this place. They have 8 waterfalls and the views are to die for. I will be planning another trip.

Bushkill Falls is a very nice stop. The steps can be a bit wet so you do have to be very careful walking. I did not do the entire trail because I had a schedule to keep, but I would have liked to. I do think the cost is a bit outrageous. I would cut that in half. It is worth doing once, but I also visited the free waterfalls nearby and those were also pretty nice

After years of seeing roadside billboards advertising the natural beauty of these falls I finally decided to go check them out. They didn’t disappoint, at least in the looks department.
The entrance fee is a little over thirteen dollars for an adult, which while somewhat expensive, could be far worse to get into a privately owned venture such as this. Keep in mind though that your entrance fee only entitles you to hiking around the actual falls, and the additional activities cost extra. I can tell you the paddle boats look a little iffy — the water is stagnant and foul with a lot of algae and film on top of it. Let’s just say you wouldn’t want to fall out of a boat and into that water.
However, the highlight is definitely the hike through the falls area. The red trail is about two miles but will feel longer due to rough terrain and constant stopping to see the sights. Most of the falls, Bridal Veil falls especially, have a lot of neat overlooks and little nooks where you can steal off to get a good view. It’s all very picturesque, so be sure to bring a camera. There is also a great deal of wildlife, specifically interesting bugs, so be on the look out.
Overall I would say this place is worth checking out if you like hiking, or natural beauty, or just need something diverting to do. Just be aware that on summer weekends the crowd is out of control, with tourists as far as the eye can see. That being said, I’m glad after all this time I finally got to see what the fuss was about.

Ok here is the deal. Prepare yourself for the high cost and realize that you are helping to cover the maintenance of over 1200 wooden stairways winding their way over, under around and near some beautiful scenery.
Once you get over the sticker shock, then wind your way through the various trails and marvel and the beauty of this place.
The secret is to get there early before the buss load of tourons arrive and crowd all of the trails.
The water is pretty. The scenery is timeless. If you do the red trail, be smart about it and do it in a counter-​clockwise pattern.

Easy to drive to, have clear signs. Big parking lot.
Lots of activities for kids, saw people fishing, kids playground, shops, exhibits, hiking, big waterfall.
To start the hike, there is an entrance fee. There are 3 trails you can choose from. The main waterfall was very impressive.
Overall, great place to take the family to!

Not only are you moving on uneven terrain around the trail, but there are PLENTY of stairs to climb, and BIG stairs at that. To be fair, I’m 5’4″ and have short legs, so I was really climbing and hoisting myself up with my glutes/​quads, haha. By the time I got to enjoy the view I was definitely trying to catch my breath. I was never on the verge of passing out. Just saying — be moderately in shape for this.
Also, be careful, the steps are wet, so if you are climbing down, you want to go slowly, so you don’t slip and fall down. That could be pretty dangerous and painful.
As others have mentioned, it can get crowded with lots of couples/​families on weekends. Sometimes it can be a bit annoying with kids running around, because you are on man made steps/​wooden bridges, and I don’t feel like getting knocked around. Maybe I’m a big chicken, but whatever. Safety first.
Waterfalls are nice but small, but it didn’t make me stop and gasp in awe, or gape in amazement. I came here expecting average waterfalls. It’s not Niagra Falls or Hawaii or other exotic destinations.
Got a nice little ice cream afterwards at the shops. They have other desserts I think, like cookies, but being hot and burning calories, the hubby and I beelined for ice cream!
Wouldn’t come back again, not enough to truly «see», but I enjoyed this for a weekend outing for an anniversary getaway.

Absolutely gorgeous waterfalls and trails! Came here over Memorial Day weekend and loved it, only drawback was the crowds, tons of families! Some of the pathways are pretty narrow and can get backed-​up waiting for people to pass, but nothing awful.
We took the Red trail which is the longest at almost 2 miles. Some parts of this trail indicate it’s steep and strenuous, but I think they’re being overly cautious with the warning signs. Overall, it’s not very difficult and would recommend it if you’re able to climb a few set of stairs and just watch your footing. The stairs also have handrails you can hang on to if necessary.
Adult admission was $ 13.50 per adult plus $ 3 for the «official» map, which details out topography of the trails, and it also comes with a trail adventure scavenger hunt card thingy which is pretty neat.
It would be nice if this place opened up earlier than 9 am to get a head start on all the families and crowds, however, I’d still recommend it.

I absolutely love hiking and it sucks I don’t get the chance to do it more often.
Came here couple years ago as well. This is a nice hike. bit too crowded though. tons of families but the waterfalls are really pretty and breathtaking.

Wouldn’t say the experience has left me breathless but only because I’ve been to Niagara and have hiked real trails.
That said
Bushkill falls is beautiful and shows you the wonders of the world and the beauty of nature.

I’ve passed the signs for this place dozens of times but it took a recommendation from out of town friends to strike our interest. The drive off the highway is a bit deceptive — you feel like you should be there already mile after mile, but it does take awhile.
We went in the fall but there are a bunch of outdoor activities you could do with families if the weather were warmer. Of course the main attractions are the falls themselves. Though there were plenty of families hiking, I don’t advise this for families of small children, especially if strollers are involved.
Neither do I advise hiking the trails if:
— You’re not wearing comfortable, flat-​bottom shoes with a tread;
— You’re not able to climb more than a flight of stairs without wheezing;
— You’re afraid of heights;
— You don’t have some water;
— You’re dressed in anything other than shorts or pants.
There are 3 main trails with which to view the falls. You can do any or all of them. The red trail is the longest & criss-​crosses the other ones. Look at the trail map and follow the red trail in numerical order. The map says it’ll take you about 2 — 3 hours but if you’re a hearty hiker and not all about stopping for photo opps at every view, you can do it in less time.
The falls are really scenic and worth the price of admission. Take your time and enjoy them.

I went on a Wednesday when the news called for possible rain. Made the almost three hour drive to get there and to my delight, there was barely anyone here. I had concerns because the knocks against Bushkill Falls was that it was always crowded (I understand why… It’s gorgeous). I saw complaints about price but seriously, $ 12.50 for the level of maintenance that place must require is a bargain. Not once while on the bridges did I feel like they were going to come apart. It’s more like a combination of theme park and hike, but most of it is NOT hiking in the traditional sense. Most is along a series of bridges and walkways but the path to other falls is off of the main route and does involve a little effort.
Definitely worth my drive, money and time. Will definitely visit again.
