Great Food, friendly service, at a great price. You have to try the Peanut Butter and Banana French Toast, even Elvis would be agree it’s amazing!

My husband and I went here last night for the second time. The place was packed but the staff was very nice and attentive and all of our food was delicious. My husband ordered the peanut butter and banana French toast with a side of disco fries and I had a skillet and a short stack. We have lived up in the area for 12 years and this is definitely the best diner around!

Heard this diner had recently opened so a friend and I decided to check it out last Friday night. 1. Very friendly staff 2. Clean inside 3. Tons of pancake options 4. Average diner prices 5. Enormous portions 6. Small salad bar 7. Matzah ball soup was a tad salty 8. Skip the rice pudding

Went for morning breakfast. Was never served water. Wait staff did not seem like they knew the menu, he seemed very lost. We ordered l breakfast, 20 mins later… Cold toast/no butter. Warm coffee. No butter on my pancakes. Coffee comes in a plastic to go cups. No warm syrup. Only good thing was the pancakes were generous size. The eggs were warm and sad. We won’t be going back to this diner. Not sure why they’re open still… then again there’s a diner at every traffic light on rt 23.

It pains me to say this but this is just not a very good diner. The service is fine if somewhat unprofessional. The conversation of the wait staff behind the counter is fairly loud and not what diners really want to deal with. Nothing rude or anything like that but shouting across the length of the counter to each other is annoying to the people eating their meals. Where the Sit N’ Chat 2 fails is the quality of the food. It is at best mediocre and in North Jersey that is an unpardonable sin. A few weeks back I had a mushroom omelet made with canned mushrooms. Today I had oatmeal that had the taste and texture of instant oatmeal. I don’t know that it WAS instant oatmeal but it didn’t taste like freshly made. And the coffee was weak. The dinner I had there had a distinctly«reheated in the microwave» appearance and the food was simply absent of taste. Each time I have been there they screwed up some part of the order. First time it was scrambled eggs instead of over easy. This time it was butter on my son’s toast when he asked for it dry. The table next to us got fried potatoes when he asked them to leave them off. This is a lack of attention on the part of the kitchen that goes beyond the occasional mixup and speaks to carelessness. I gave the diner five chances and that is enough. I wish them luck and I hope they discover that making the food with fresh ingredients is the way forward.

Been here several times after a gap from this location(when it was Mac’s) because the owner had jacked up the prices and made the portions smaller at the same time. Sit and Chat is reasonable for a diner, and the portions are huge! My friend and I have ended up sharing stuff and it’s plenty! I also find most of the staff really nice, and was glad to see that they kept most of the better waitresses from Mac’s. 2 things I especially like: — The home fries have spices added to them, so they have lots of flavor, which most diners lack –French toast, waffles, and pancakes come with a side of breakfast meat, which is unheard of… Usually it’s $ 2.95 for a side of bacon! — they only charge $ 1 extra for sweet potato fries. Went to another diner that wanted $ 2.50.: crazy! Wish diners would stop charging extra for these but I can live with $ 1 when the sandwiches are mostly under $ 10. I hope they keep the prices low here! Got tired of going to Pompton Queen and having to beat my way through crowds LOL

I usually go to diners, in the area & outside, But the Sit & Chat should change it’s name to Get Up & Leave. I went there a total of three separate.times. Here who it went down: Breakfast — Eggs runny Lunch — Burnt bread for grilled cheese. Dinner — Corned beef & Cabbage — taste like cardboard. Get a new chef or better yet, go to a real diner.

the one in Franklin and the one in butler are as different as night and day. franklin has a better staff and better food, I was at the butler one and ordered a basic burger and fries, the burger was dry and the roll stale on top of that the fries were only half cooked, the server showed up once to ask about the food before I had a chance to eat. not likely to return… sorry

In subsequent visits, service appeared to ve variable, at best. Mostly, servers were indifferent. One, looking at the pile of used dishes at the center of the table, asked us if we wanted them removed. We found this surprising, because most good restaurants will bus the tables throughout the meal, so that the patrons are never encumbered by their own dirty dishes. When one considers the large number of diners here in New Jersey, the one feature that truly distinguishes one diner from another, is often the service. I think that this restaurant will be excellent, given enough time. Their food certainly is worthy of the trip there.
