This is NOT the place the first reviewer thought it might have been. While it might be «in the middle of nowhere, West Virginia;» It is not«fabulous.» It also does not provide gas or have a «tacky gift shop.» It is a small nondescript greasy spoon restaurant with slightly below average food. My family stopped for breakfast when traveling in the area. My wife’s eggs were cold, my western omelet’s vegetables were undercooked and my children’s pancakes were bland. The coffee was also very weak. On the positive side the price was very reasonable.

For the middle of nowhere, it isn’t bad. Otherwise, not the greatest. The ham sandwich was so salty it was hardly edible. There isn’t a gift shop, so it probably isn’t the place the other poster remembers. It is very diner-like. The service is friendly enough. It’ll do if you are hungry. It might even be comfort food if you miss fried meat and cheese.

If this is the place I am thinking of, it’s fabulous. Literally in the middle of nowhere in West Virginia, it provides food, gas, and tacky gift shop all in one. The reason I was here was for North Fork Mountain, a really fun but strenuous uphill hike that takes you to a cliff swarming with falcons and breathtaking views. Anyways there isn’t a whole lot else around for the hungry traveler. Half of the building is a quirky but expansive souvenir shop – one of the only ones I saw around that wasn’t affiliated with Monongahela National Forest. Lots of «redneck» gear and paraphernalia. I saw deer heads and bear heads on the wall for sale and wasn’t sure if they were fake or not. The café is pretty good. The chicken soup was filling and hot and the service was quick and very friendly. My friends got sandwiches of some sort. They have all kinds of specialty barbecue sauces on sale that I kicked myself for not buying. $ 20 limit for credit cards. PS – if you do find yourself in this area, absolutely make sure at least you drive up to Dolly Sods all the way to Bear Rocks. INCREDIBLE. There are some cool nature hikes up there too for the beginner, and some great backcountry exploring to do for the more experienced.
