First of all, how many wine shops exist in L. A. where the owners actually own a functioning and producing vineyard and winery? I would venture to say very few(if any) other than this one. Cynthia is a doll. A knowledgable and helpful doll who, along with her husband, Bernie, own this wonderful gem of a wine shop. They also own and operate Coquelicot winery and bottle a selection of great wines(if you like dessert wines, try their«Slow Hand» — it’s delicious!). They hold wine tastings and are always willing to make spot-on recommendations — and Cynthia can usually be found in the shop. They have a great selection and this is where you should buy your wine!

Excellent experience all around. There is a huge selection of wine available and the employees there are more than informative. The wine tasting was affordable and educational with a wide variety to sample. I will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family.

WOW! My fiancé grew up in Calabasas but has been gone for the last 15 years. We were back in town and I looked up Bernard’s to go for a tasting up the street from where he grew up and it was great! I felt like we were visiting a good friend of his family, as that is just how we were treated. The owner was very friendly and down to earth. Even offered us an additional tasting of their amor wine as we were recently engaged. The blind tasting is very fun! What a great experience. They definitely know their wine! We are going to recommend this place to our family and friends. Don’t miss out!

I’ve been to Bernard’s twice. The first time I was looking for Justin Isosceles, which they did not have by the way. When I told the staff what I was looking for, they were able to give other recommendations. When I was unsure, they offered me a glass of wine of their recommendation, which was Coquelicot. I ended up making the purchase because I was sold. The second time I visited, I brought a friend for wine and cheese tasting. For $ 15 they gave us a hefty sample of 5 wines and additional for the cheese, which was over the top. I ended up purchasing a case of wine because of their February special. A case of Backseat Blonde for only $ 7 a bottle which we sampled. It was a great purchase! The case was gone during a BBQ I attended and received compliments on the wine. I definitely will be going back time to time to mingle with the friendly staff and taste more wines at their wine tastings.

I have been going to Bernards for close to a year and I am very picky about my wine. But because of the customer service, knowledge and passion that Matt and Cynthia have is what makes my fiancé and keep coming back. we go atleast twice a month and learn something new every time. we have also gone to their restaurant in long beach(sky room) and had an amazing time. worth a try

Stopped in here today for a tasting and bought a couple of bottles. The man working today was very kind and seemed very knowledgeable on the wine they stocked as well as being able to tell me about the owners and their own brand and vineyard. He helped me find a couple of wines after I described what I like and I can’t wait to try them! I will definitely return and try the tasting again with the cheese plate.

I’m reviewing this site because they went out of their way to help me and their customer service was top notch. Everyone here seems to really know what they are talking about and it shows. Personable nice staff so I will return for sure when I’m in Calabasas next time.

I purchased a Groupon for this place that included a Wine tasting for two. I have to say I was a little apprehensive because it was located in Calabasas(typically I associate Calabasas with snobby, selfish, and rude) However, I was surprised with how comfortable I felt. I was well taken care of and look forward to many future tastings here. PS It is located in a historical building so the front door is on the side of the building. It looks closed because of the tinted windows(keeping the wine cool.)

My husband and I went last Friday on a Groupon that I had purchased. It was worth the groupon and even more! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable! We felt so comfortable and are will to go again and again! The cheese plate was great(it came with our Groupon) and the wine selection was delicious! I highly suggest that you go!

A great wine store in the heart of Old Calabasas. The store has an impressive selection of wines. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The owner of the store also owns the Coquelicot winery(organic wines), and a club in Long Beach. The wine tasting can be done on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 4pm to 8pm(store closes at 9pm) The store has a large communal table in the back for group wine tasting. In the store, 4 tables are available for couple’s wine tasting. The wine tasting experience is relaxing as you sit at a table surrounded by the bottles sold in the quiet and beautiful store. The cheese plate was nice. We had green olives, camonzola(a camembert/gorgonzola), a gouda, and a white cheddar. It is a great pre-dinner experience, as you can then walk around Calabasas to one of the nearby restaurants or the Commons.

It started with a Living Social coupon for a free tasting. It’s right next to the Calabasas farmers market which made it on the way for us. Great wine, great people, tastings are excellent(they always have two, the owners vineyard and a themed tasting) We are now wine club members and stop in every Saturday after we pick up our farmers market groceries.

This is a great hidden spot in the valley. Although the address is in Calabasas, it is pretty close to Woodland Hills. They have an amazing selection of wines they sell in the shop, but their own wines are the best. My fiancé and I did a tasting and it is a really nice experience — rather than the traditional winery experience where you are standing all day at a tall bar, in their tasting room you get to sit down. Tasting is a bit pricey — $ 15 per person, and $ 15 for a cheese and cracker plate, but they don’t rush you. The woman who runs the place is very nice and easy to talk to, although it can be awkward at first if you are the only ones there like we were(but that goes away quickly once you are several glasses in). I HIGHLY recommend the«Backseat Blonde», which is a white blend that combines Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Pinot Blanc, and more. It is very unique and delicious, and I ended up buying two bottles at $ 18/bottle. Also purchased a Brazilian strawberry champagne from the shop, which was yummy but pretty much tasted like Welch’s strawberry soda.

It’s a rare occurrence to find a spot that is as quaint, yet sophisticated, charming and inviting as this special wine gallery. The European flair without pretense gives a superb introduction to all varietals of wines, do not miss their wine tastings, replete with exceptional charcuterie, and all the gourmet touches that make the experience memorable. The setting is in the historic old schoolhouse of Calabasas, built in the 1890s, and in the heart of old Town, and is walking distance to many shops. Bernard, Cynthia and everyone there are knowledgeable and friendly, and help novices to the hard core oenophiles find special wines to savor. Great way to spend the day, check for their tastings schedule and sign up for their email newsletter so you don’t miss out!

What a little gem this quaint wine shop is! It really has a sense of charm and warmth. The wood floors and art work, along with the cheerful employees make this a comfortable place to shop for a nice bottle of wine and perhaps some cheese. I am a wine afficionado and the selection here is excellent, especially for higher end Bordeaux, Burgundy, and iconic California. What I like about this shop in particular is the abundance of older vintage wines that are hard to find. Prices seem very fair to me and I’ve always been offered a taste of something as I browse. Give this place a try and you will see that they do a very fine job. Cheers.
