When we first arrived in ID we happened to be in Caldwell around lunch time. We spotted Canton Café and, without consulting the Unilocal site as I normally do, decided to take a chance. The first thing that struck me was how clean the place was. It has the usual cheesy Chinese restaurant décor, but every plate that came out of the kitchen looked great… and it smelled good too. We shared a combo plate with an egg roll, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, and fried shrimp. All were tasty, served piping hot, and with all white chicken. The only thing that I would change(and this is a personal pet peeve) is that they charge a «plate» fee for sharing. I could never eat a combo plate myself and am not fond of taking food home. Why penalize customers who have lighter appetites? To be sure, Canton Café serves up Americanized fare… but that was exactly what we were looking for… familiar…tasty…heartwarming Chinese soul food. The servers were top notch too with a great sense of humor!

We love the food at Canton Café! Always great service and good food. Egg rolls are great, not batter dipped.

The gals here are super friendly. Also, I thought it was cool that they bothered to ask if I prefer all white meat. Seems like every other customer was takeout. Weird. The place really has no vibe to it but nothing bad either. A few lame decorations and booths. As one might expect there is nothing remarkable about the food. If you are craving Chinese and can’t drive outside of Caldwell, this will satisfy the need but probably won’t blow your skirt up if you are a foody. 4 stars for the service, 2 for the food.

This was my first time visiting the Canton. The place was very clean and fresh looking. Seated myself and was greeted by the waitress almost immediately. Ordered a small pork and seeds for 5.25 for eight pieces. The pork was tough and not very fresh. For lunch I ordered the lunch special of mandarin chicken and pork fried rice for 6.95. The seasoning on the chicken was different than any I’ve had on mandarin chicken and had no flavor. The pork fried rice wasn’t the best either with not much flavor. I guess for the price not bad. But not a place I would go back to. On the bright side the service was good.

I was told to drop by Canton Café since I live in Caldwell. The one thing that is impossible to find is a good Chinese restaurant in Caldwell. So when I was told about this, I was thrilled. But I got my hopes up to high. Canton Café is not horrible, but it has nothing to brag about or recommend it to friends. Couple issues that I had was that the fried rice taste like it comes from instant rice. Paying extra for white meat chicken. Their egg rolls are good. I will not be going back there any time soon.

Customer service is great, food is very good, reasonably priced, easy parking and access from the boulevard. I had the won ton soup, which I highly recommend.
