Was going to go to Mt Fuji but decided to give this place a try. Had reservation for the Hibachi grill. The place looked a bit run down and there wasn’t that many people there for a Friday night(warning sign). The chef was entertaining but found it a bit inauthentic to have a non Japanese chef. The food was just average and I was going to leave a 3 star rating. Just before leaving my daughter had to use the bathroom for severe diarrhea… sorry for the graphic note. By the time we got home we all had it extremely bad. Safe to say we won’t be returning here.

I am giving this top rating. Food is always consistently good. Most of the time great, but once in awhile not as great, but standard. This might depend on how busy they are. The owner always tries to make everyone feel welcomed with extras. I get what the other reviews say about the servers being slow. They are sometimes and you have to get one of the good waitresses.

Still good. I had the yellowtail roll, the eel and avocado– as well as two salmon roe sushi pieces. The food came out quick and fresh. I’ll be back next week :)

Love this place! Friendly staff! Awesome food! We got teriyaki bento boxes! Omg the food amount was huge! Delicious! I’m stuffed. We’re going back soon! We’ve been there for habachi also and it’s delicious and a ton of food!

First off excellent service. Even with our complicated order everything came out timely and correctly. Modifications to bento boxes were not a problem and a they adapted to a walk in party of seven. We did no hibachi but got sushi, noodles, and bento boxes which were all delicious, well balanced, and not greasy. There was a bday in which they changed the music and gave us all ice cream on the house. They even let us try a new appetizer, a sort of tempura salmon roll. Even without freebies, we all felt well taken care of. Extra napkins, extra sauce without asking, and waters refilled promptly. Great food with great service is a nice combo. The only downside was it was slow for a sunday night so get out and support your local restaurant and enjoy great food and service.

Amazing food! Great, quick and respectful service, a little expensive but they do give out a lot of sample/side food like soup, rice or 2 crab sashimi with your order. Love the display of the food when I get it, it always looks absolutely beautiful!

Drove past here a number of times and it looked so nice. I finally made plans to go. We walked in and it felt like an old authentic Japanese restaurant, even though the lit up Ginza sign out front makes it look more modern. We were seated at our own hibachi table… it wasn’t very crowded. I went to the bathroom which felt old and dingy. I was surprised given the feel of the place. Our food is prepared: the chef was entertaining but the food was eh. Aside from that the rest of the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Overall I’d say three stars. Then I looked down and saw a roach crawling on the floor. My bf killed it. I was turned off and didn’t take my food to go. Neither did he. We won’t be going back. I would have only given one star but the staff was better than at a lot of other places.

It used to be my #1 favorite place to go for hibachi, but was disappointed with the service the last time I went. It was slow and they didn’t pay much attention to us(refills and such). The food is very good, though, and if you’re looking for hibachi with a bar, I would recommend this place.

When FI moved to Jersey, this was our go-to place for a while. First visit, we even received a roll of sushi, compliments of the chef. They offer plenty of vegetarian options and FI loves the steak hibachi, which he orders rare and man, is it rare! Each consecutive visit has been pretty consistent. Immediate greeting, seating at a booth away from the noisy hibachi tables, delicious food, mostly attentive service and to-go boxes to enjoy our leftovers later(there was only one time I did not have leftovers – must have been hungry!) Good prices and good food! Our last visit was disappointing, though. We usually have the same female server, who’s sweet and makes the same cute«oh, very bloody!» joke when FI orders his steak«as rare as possible.» The food was great as always, but the service was unusually slow. While we waited for drink refills, we tried to wave to our server, who was sitting at the bar. Another man eventually stopped over to collect dishes and see if we wanted anything else. We asked why our server wasn’t coming over to ask us herself, to which he replied that she was busy. Too busy to do her job? We could CLEARLY see her sitting at the bar chatting with some other people, which she had been doing for a good ten minutes. Fuming, we left and never came back. FI agreed to getting takeout if I really wanted it, but I feel like they are not interested in having us as customers in any capacity. It may have been a fluke, but as they say, it takes years to make a loyal customer, and only one experience to lose one forever.

I have been going to Ginza on a semi regular basis since they opened 10+ years ago. For Jersey sushi it is a satisfying restaurant. The fish is fresh and while not always top, top quality it is way better than the other options in the area. Their major perk would be the specialties they serve when in season like sweet shrimp. They are not heavy on the specialty roles which always thrills me. My weakness is the spider roll and they listen when you say less rice. If you sit at the sushi bar you can strike up a conversation and they will tell you what would be best to order that night. Every time I go I have received great service. The staff is friendly and will gladly make any changes you request. It is not necessary but every single time I have gone I end up with some free goody or another being brought to my table. I have never been to the hibachi side but based on the cheers they must put on a decent performance. The exterior is in need of some repair and the slate tiles on the entryway ramp need some major help but the inside is clean and well maintained.

Note: reviewing Hibachi experience only. I had sushi there once but don’t remember if I liked it or not! I’ve come to this place probably a dozen times since it opened way back when! This place has really, really, solid hibachi. I also appreciate how much they give you, including ice cream, for the price. The hibachi chefs are fun, the food isn’t too salty(which can be an issue with hibachi), and the wait staff are attentive. Any time I want to take someone to hibachi, I take them here.

We had Sushimi sampler and Filet mignon and lobster. Everything was great. Hibachi chef was fun too. Burnt my eyebrows and made the onion volcano.

Wonderful food and service. The manager(owner?) always has a smile on his face and makes sure the customers are delighted. The chefs, while perhaps less flashy with their cooking than other hibachi places, cook very tasty dishes and ultimately that’s the point of going to a restaurant right? I am happy to consider myself a repeat customer.

My wife and I went for dinner, and had a great time. We ordered miso soup, house salad, several sushi rolls, and a side of noodles. The soup and salad were as you’d expect. The salad had a delicious sweet ginger dressing. The rolls were all delicious. They looked very fresh, were packed well, and tasted great. The noodles were fantastic, too! They were seemingly plane noodles, but they had a nutty, smokey taste that we enjoyed. The waiter had a huge smile on his face the whole time, and made sure were were always topped off with water and green tea. We will definitely return.

I’ve been to Ginza twice now — once just recently and once a few years ago. Both experiences were… okay. Nothing was spectacular, but nothing was awful either — just very middle of the road both in service and the food. Most recently, I was there with a girlfriend of mine for lunch during the week. We knew we had limited time becase we both had to get back to work, so sushi seemed like a good but quick option. The restaurant itself is nestled in a small area of Passaic Avenue. There is ample parking on front of, next to, and behind the small building. When I went there for lunch on a Thursday, it was surprisingly empty. I don’t know if it’s busier here during dinner, but there were only one or two other cars in the lot at 12:05pm. I walked in and my friend had already gotten us a booth near the back. We quickly decided on some rolls and set to work enjoying our tea. A few minutes later, we were presented with our soup and salad, both devoured as quickly as they appeared on our table. Neither was truly memorable, but there was nothing offensive about them either Next our rolls were brought out to us on one of those boat things — very nice touch since we ordered 6 rolls total. The server even brought out a really cool cucumber roll with a citrus sauce compliments of the chef. I can’t remember all the rolls we ordered, but I can say that the shrimp tempura roll was delicious. We had tuna and California rolls as well. I vaguely remember one of the rolls having scallops, but it’s hard to remember since I didn’t do the ordering. Unfortunately, my friend got called back into work before we could get through most of our sushi. I ended up taking it back to the office with me, spending the rest of the day enjoying the rest of the meal in my cubicle. The rolls were all packed up for me in a white take-out box with extra soy sauce and chopsticks, to boot. While Ginza is certainly not my «go to» spot for sushi, I’m not going to vehemently object to going there. The food was okay, the service was prompt, and the prices were very reasonable.

Very solid sushi/hibachi. There was a time when my family ate here at least twice a week. It’s a 5 minute drive from my house and always a good place to bring guests and friends when they visit. Can get a little pricey but I believe they’ve reduced their prices in recent years. Most Japanese style restaurants just use the frozen kind you can buy at a supermarket but their gyoza(fried dumplings) are made in-house and they’re the best I’ve had anywhere. ANYWHERE. They put in my order as soon as I sit down before even taking my order because I ALWAYS order it. Love that you can order just 1 serving of hibachi so that you can eat it even if the rest of your party gets sushi/sashimi. The rolls are creative and the fish is always fresh. The menu has so many options for even the pickiest eaters. I love the red snapper(great sauce, flavor, and presentation) and stir-fried udon noodles. My mom is super picky about udon generally but loves their broth and their noodles are ALWAYS cooked perfectly al dente. I’ve tried a little bit of everything here and have never been disappointed. Disclaimer: this is a very fusion place. If you come expecting SUPER authentic Japanese food like some of the other reviewers below, you’ll be disappointed. But being a good American-born to immigrant parents, I love American-style ethnic food. If you know what to expect and/or like American-friendly Japenese food, you’ll be fine.

I guess where Ginza set up shop is helpful. There’s not too many Japanese restaurants in the area. Even so… Food is okay at best. Sushi quality is mediocre and bland. I haven’t tried the hibachi, but I can only imagine it’ll be close to average. I think that the combination lunch boxes might be the best bang for your buck here. They range from 12 – 15 dollars and the prices double during dinner hours. These include your choice of meat(chicken, beef, shrimp, salmon, scallop teriyaki style), gyoza, spring rolls, California sushi roll, rice, and an assortment of tempura(shrimp and veggies). However, service is impeccable. Our server was very attentive and accommodating. He was constantly on the lookout to refill our beverages and take away any emptied dishware. Overall, I would only recommend Ginza during the lunch hours and specifically for the combination boxes.

This is a pretty decent restaurant in a pretty secluded area. They also have a huge parking lot, and an extra space of empty lot with no parking spaces. Ordered a beef teriyaki bento box here, they ended up mistaking it for a chicken teriyaki one, but I didn’t mind. The chicken teriyaki was a little dry, but everything else was pretty splendid. The bento box also came with some california rolls, rice, and tempora vegetables. Definitely come here when for lunch, it’s not really worth it for dinner. There is a hibachi part of the restaurant as well, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Don’t come here for the sushi. or for the hibachi. Came here with my «whitest» sis and bro laws. And they just absolutely love this place, but they call chicken breast slathered in Kikoman Teriyaki sauce — Chinese food. So, having said that. If you know your Asian food and have the proper palate for it. Don’t bother coming here. You’re better off buying an Asian Frozen Bag at Trader Joe’s, throw a steel tray over your grill and have it at home.
