Food is so delicious and authentic as well as affordable. Carne Asada tacos are my favorite! I could eat here every day.

Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area. Good street tacos. The star here was the three homemade sauces they give you with your order. Friendly staff.

A family member highly recommended Tacos El Rey due to my love of street tacos and authentic style mexican food. She warned me that it was a hole in the wall… but those are always the best kinds of food finds anyway. We were making the drive to Ontario and figured a stop in Caldwell wouldnt hurt. Results: the torta is the smallest I have ever seen. The hubby was disappointed by its size(half the size of any torta we have had before) but it was full of flavor and he devoured it. I ordered the carne asada tacos. The carne was dry to me and even with topping with their avocado salsa(yum) I just couldnt choke it down… bummer. but next time I will get chicken or pork with hopes of a moist meat even though carne asada is my favorite. I read on here that rice and beans were included, not the case but that is okay. I would have paid extra had I known. I really love mexi-style rice and was too embarrassed that I didnt order it so didnt go back to the counter, I should have. The best thing we had was hands down the horchata. Honestly. Delicious and tasted homemade. It might be… who knows, but it is f-ing good. Service was great, the resturaunt was clean, and prices were amazing! I only speak some Spanish so it is real nice that the lady who took my order not only spoke great English but made sure I didnt order something I couldnt handle(hehehe…cant do onions or spicey here…). I am glad I now have a back up for tacos when I am in Nampa/Caldwell. Next time I want to try the Sopes based on reviews.

This place is greeeeat! Had the beef tacos with rice and beans and got another order of the exact same thing after. Tacos were smaller than I expected, but they’re only a dollar so it makes sense. Just order more than you think. Very casual dining experience, very delicious food.

Some of the best Mexican food I have ever had! This is a hidden gem. Don’t let looks deceive. It’s in the divey area of down. Not much street appeal. The people were friendly and food AMAZING. Prices more than fair. I can’t wait to come back.

I used to love this place it was the best in town for years, however i went recently went and was sadly disappointed. the food portion has shrunken while the price remaned the same. not to mention that the flavor and seasonings just wasnt their, the staff was really nice, but lazy. They used to put any side items,(radish and lime for example), in containers but they just through them in the bag. which is not very clendly, but i digress. my main problem was that i ordered lengua,(cow tounge), but received a mixture of lengua and cavesa,(head meat). which if you have been to an authentic place it is a known practice for cost cutting. this to me is sad because they have set the bar for restaurants in the area, and they themselves have fallen below it.

One of my all time favorite taco joints. They always deliver with warm food and are never disrespectful. It’s great to go to place that is so diverse and so amazing.

So far, the most authentic Mexican restaurant in Idaho. Next door to a carneceria, hard to find enterance, hand-written signs in bad english, pre-paid telephone card advertisements, and a so-simple-it’s-complicated menu all add up to an excellent hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. The lengua was good, the cabeza better, and the gringo meats were better than expected. Relatively inexpensive prices. Very quick and personal service.

Finally, quality Mexican food in Idaho. I had almost given up! The carnitas are on point and not fatty like some of the other restaurants. Try the sopes, they are amazing!

Clean and courteous staff with authentic California taco truck style tacos. Rice and beans are among the best in the area. Tacos are bomb with great tasting carnetas and chicken. My only real complaint is the crappy napkins lol. Charge me an extra .10 and give me a real napkin. Prices are decent. Among the best I have had in Idaho.

After many, many recommendations from my students to visit Tacos El Rey, I finally did. Boy, howdy, was I glad that I did! After moving away from Southern California, I got pretty nostalgiac and, eventually, downright nasty about my authentic street tacos. Where in Idaho does one find lengua, cabeza, adobada and the other meats I came to love in my tacos? Tacos El Rey, mis amigos, and you’d better run straight there! Even though the ambience is taco shop(hole in the wall, patio furniture, fluorscent lighting, etc.), El Rey keeps the place super clean. I know a lot of gringos get worried about cleanliness, but it’s hard to in a place like this. Service was more or less standard, in that you place your order and only see the server again when they bring you your food. Actually, I was impressed that they did table service, as I was expecting to pick it up from the counter. For my meal, I opted out of the torta and burrito recommendations, because they would have only allowed me one choice of meat. Instead, I got four tacos: cabeza, lengua, carnitas and adobada. The adobada is what I expected, which is salty and slightly spicy pork. The carnitas were totally legit, too. The lengua and cabeza were both tender, but not huge on flavor. Fortunately, they have a nicely spicy salsa verde, a smokey salsa roja and a creamy, avocado salsa. Holy cow, they all were lovely when played in unison. I swear the tortillas were homemade and I even gobbled up the rice and beans that came complimentary with my tacos. Do yourself a favor and eat some legit Mexican food; although I love Los Betos, El Rey will save you the post-meal spring to the bathroom. Did I mention tacos were $ 1 each? 4 stars for the vibe, 3 stars for the food. Not the best tacos, not the worst. I thought the chicken tacos were better than the others we tried. Enchiladas were tasty.

These are what real tacos are meant to be. Flavorful meat with double tortillas. Top them off with homemade sauces that come in squirt bottles. Delicious.

Tacos were a bit dry and the tortillas were just a bit doughy. But, well worth the trip. I’ll stop by every time I’m in the area.
