Toppers Pizza Place

This is my go to pizza place in Camarillo.
Not the best but totally doable.
And delivery helps.
They win by default.

WE ALL STOPPED eating Toppers a little over a year ago! My family had the WORST experience possible here at our CAMARILLO location!
WE WITNESSED AN EMPLOYEE NOT WASH THEIR HANDS AFTER COMING OUT OF THE BATHROOM STALL AND RETURNING TO WORK!
Isn’t that against the law? Isn’t their a sign on the wall to wash your hands before returning to work? Shouldn’t that be policy? Shouldn’t that be common sense?
In complete shock I asked for the manager and our experience only got worse. Mind you this USED to be my favorite pizza parlor in town regardless of the repeated poor service.
The MANAGER defended the employee by making the EXCUSES of «he doesn’t handle any food» and «he could’ve waited to wash in the back instead!» How do I know that?
Never did he offer any sincerity or understanding. But what he did say was «Well, it sounds like your not coming back again, so I’m not going to offer you anything!»
Well, to me it sounds like this wasn’t the first COMPLAINT Toppers has ever had regarding SANITATION issues. The manager made ZERO attempt to reassure or make me or my family ever feel SAFE eating TOPPERS PIZZA EVER AGAIN!

I LOVE Toppers Pizza! The food is amazing! The three stars is for the customer service. I used to live in Thousand Oaks and frequented the Toppers over there. Now that I live in Camarillo my husband and I go to this one. The customer service is always AWFUL. They never smile, they’ve messed up my order several times. One time we ordered to pick up and went to pickup and ended up standing there waiting for 20 minutes when they finally found our pizza just sitting on top of the oven. They didn’t even apologize and only gave us a coupon once we said something. And again they didn’t apologize just threw the coupon at us and we left. The only reason I go back is because I do love their food. The two women who are usually passing out and cutting the pizzas are the worst. They are rude and the pizzas are never fully cut. One of the women is the manager I believe and she is incredibly unprofessional.

By far the best pizza I’ve ever tried. I live In Texas and every time I visit my boyfriend this is the very first place I ask to go. Defiantly a place to try out! You won’t regret it.

What else can I say… Best salad bar ever!

Best PIZZA place in Ventura county for sure. But the breadsticks are dirtball.
Tasted like some freezer ready bread with garlic salt on it…
Can’t go wrong with the pizza and salad. But stay away from the nasty bread sticks… Lol

Pizza is always amazing here. The ranch dressing is one of my favorites here. The salad bar always has fresh veggies. The staff is always friendly. Highly recommend coming here for the lunch special. Pizza and salad bar under $ 10.00 can’t beat that anywhere in town.

Ever since I told them I am allergic to tomato EVERY time I order plain, cheese-​only pizza it comes with tomato sauce on it.
two years of no problems, now that I mention my severe tomato allergy they can’t stop sending tomato. Seems almost pathological.

I grew up in Oxnard eating Toppers pizza, so when I’m in town, I make sure to stop by and grab one. The Camarillo location is continually disappointing. Every time I go here my order is messed up. The bathroom is disgusting and the general attitude is disdain. I won’t be returning to this location

Fantastic pizza!
The pizza here tastes great, all fresh and made there and then while you wait. Just how pizza should be.
My only criticism is that the staff can often be a little robotic, as if they are just saying things ti please you and don’t really have many people skills. My Father in Law tried to explain that he had a coupon (he didn’t know it had expired) and the lady just kept going on and on about how it wasn’t valid… she could have just said, «look the date has expired» but she instead just kept saying, «it’s not valid Sir» (hence my comment about the staff being robotic in their conversations…)
Overall though, the pizza was just fantastic so apart from that one member of staff, I can’t really say anything bad about them, it was a nice place to eat.

Every month my co-​workers plan a millennials lunch somewhere in the area so we can get to know each other and this month we got together at Topper’s.
The menu is pretty straightforward, during lunch time you can get a personal pizza (2 toppings) for $ 5 and you can add a small salad (one trip to the salad bar only) for $ 2 more. They also have the usual small, medium, large build your own and some «top hit» pizza options which are a little more expensive. The small is around 2 inches bigger than the personal pizza.
I ended up getting a personal pizza with mushroom and olives (they have a fresh jalapeño option, but I got a little nervous and backed out of getting that). The pizza was really good, but it was a little smaller than I had expected. I kind of wish I got the small sized pizza instead, or atleast added a salad or something. A couple people at the table got the hot honey and it looked absolutely delicious (I might have to come back just to try that).
I’m giving 4 stars because I wanted a bigger pizza, and the salad bar was really messy.

Love this place
They don’t have the train cruising around the outside wall, but they got everything else. Pizza and sandwiches are great.

Best Pizza in Ventura County!
I used to work for the chain when I was in High School as a Pizza Boy. (best job ever as a teenager!) So, I pretty much know what goes on behind the scenes. They have an awesome selection of specialty pizza’s, a pretty good salad bar, and have a generous amount of sports on their televisions, so you can catch a game while hanging out. They also have beer as well.
Don’t Forget: If you ever feel like you’re stuck between ordering two pizzas, remember, you can make it a «half-​and-​half pizza.»
My personal favorite: ½ Chicken Dijon & ½ Garlic Italian Sausage.
Tips: If you like Garlic Bread, try this, Instead of getting Parmesan topped on your bread, have Mozzarella instead. And, if you like garlic, ask for an order of roasted cloves to top them on. Trust me, you’ll thank me later.

Best pizza in Ventura county! Always consistently good. I usually order mine «crispy» style to get that dough a little more crisped up.
My personal favorite is: tomato, pepperoni, garlic nice!

This is the first time I’ve eaten at Toppers and I had an awesome experience.

If we needed anything and was very attentive. I will definitely go back again.

I really enjoy the salad bar and pizza with salad quick lunch special but you don’t get much salad unless you eat it there. The pepperoni and mushroom pizza and the veggie pizza are my favorites. The crispy crust and tomato sauce are very tasty. The pastrami sandwich is also very good. I usually do delivery because it can get crowded in the restaurant as it’s not very big inside. They definitely need to expand also the parking lot is very small. The pizza is the best chain pizza in the area for sure.

The pizza is delicious and definitely our favorite pizza place in camarillo. However, the sizes seem to be getting smaller and they use a call center due to the volume of business they get. This really takes away from the personal experience and difficult to reach someone in the location you order from. They obviously get the free pass based on how delicious the food is, but I think they should be more available for the customers who have helped the company grow over the years.

They have an excellent salad bar here and the price is very reasonable. This location is usually busy with people which is a very good sign. This is more of a family restaurant and its great for large groups without breaking the bank.
They have a huge selection of pies from which to chose and nice lunch specials. They will also split a pizza for no extra charge. We ordered a smaller pizza with half Hawaiian Heat and half Vegetarian with Creamy Garlic Sauce and it was more than enough for two. With a trip to the salad bar, it’s a great value.

Best pizza in Southern California! Always prompt and on time for delivery, and dining in service is always excellent!
I wish they had more options for appetizers, but that won’t stop me and my family from eating with toppers!

I’m ashamed of myself for having not reviewed toppers earlier. Moving to Camarillo all I heard about was Toppers Pizza, it’s like crack to Ventura County-​ians. After years and years I refused to try the place, it’s always busy and One pizza will run you $ 20.
After all that complaining it’s safe to say per my review I finally gave in, tried Toppers, and yes I am now one of those annoying toppers fans! It’s one of the best pizza joints I have ever been too, with it being a local chain that should really mean something. Chains usually suck, but not Toppers.
Pizza: obviously 5 stars. I don’t know what it is that makes it so good but it’s just good. I love love love the Hot Honey, something about sweet meeting salty is just perfect. While I’ve tried many of their other pizzas I’d still say hot honey is the best. The salad bar is also amazing! Love all the toppings and bomb dressings. Their ranch is like crack. Must try on everything.
Service: 5 stars. Always fast despite the lines. Friendly. And their delivery service is great, always on time, friendly, and my order is always correct
Again the only downfall of this place is the pricing. $ 20 for a pizza is kind of crazy but it’s so good who are they to change it now?. Despite the steep price it’s always packed and I see their drivers all around the city, it’s the place to go. Toppers is worth a try. Don’t be like me and wait so long!!!
