This is a solid 3 star greasy spoon diner. And greasy spoon is not a pejorative. It’s where you get the best breakfast. This place is kitschy, the staff is friendly and the food is solid average.

My roommates love this place so I wanted to try it. Hopefully they where just having an off day but it’s unlikely I’ll try this place again. The waffles I ordered were cold, like soggy cold. They never came around to fill up the waters, even though I saw one of the waitstaff just chilling out at the counter. The service, when I did get service was alright… They were nice, so they got two stars. Meh!

Decided to try this restaurant despite the mixed reviews on Unilocal.People were nice, décor was interesting as well as available for purchase. Older knick knacks, lots of toys for kids to play with. However, the breakfast items we ordered were lacking in flavor. Definitely not the quality meal I was hoping for… :( It’s possible they are better known for lunch and dinner items.

My son and I went to this diner to have breakfast and left with a fairly average feeling in our stomachs. The food is barely palatable. I ordered sausage biscuits and gravy and my son had eggs toast and some sausage. Sausage gravy was very bland, very little flavor and very little sausage, the biscuits were nothing special and likely out of the can. Overall the food was on the low side as far as a diner is concerned so if you were not expecting much at least for breakfast this might be a good choice for you but if you want some flavor and some good food I suggest you go elsewhere.

This is a cool little place. Lots of locals in little groups. Close to the high school so you get fisherman, high schoolers, church groups, etc. Good parking along the street, but the road is busy. Only been there for breakfast, which is good. No problem going in groups of ten with separate tickets. Can reserve tables for 20 or 30.

If you want good diner food with a nice view this is your place! I had a good omelette with thinly folded egg around ham and cheese. They made my hash browns crispy on request and frequently refilled our coffee!

i love this place. the view and outdoor patio is just lovely. the food is exactly what you expect, what you sign up for, when choosing a place like this one. if country comfort breakfast with an outdoor feel is what i want, i go here. service is always decent for me too.

Worst breakfast breakfast I have ever had in my life. Eggs were over cook hash brows tasted like freeze dried potatoes. Will never go back again!

This is a breakfast spot we visit a few times a year and definitely one of those restaurants where you need to order the right dish. If you want plain bacon and eggs, an omelette or pancakes you won’t be wowed. But, if you come specifically for the biscuits and gravy or corned beef hash(both are homemade and really solid) and like the kind of country-style breakfast that makes you question the need for dinner, this is a good spot. Downsides: parking is tough and on a busy road which gets scary with small kids and the building is pretty dated. Overall you need to know this is a down-home country type family-run place so go with the right expectations and the right dish(es) in mind. Worth a shot if those things don’t put you off.

This place is a total disaster. Looks like someone’s living with tables. The husband of the owner is a server and an awful one at best. First it was way over priced for the garbage quality of food you get. Coffee was low grade coffee out of a can. The sausage was frozen low end with little or no taste. Used Margarine instead of butter and over did it on my toast. Small portions. $ 20 for breakfast for two. They had no fresh jalapeños to add to my dish. I would be going back there. I’m better off cooking my own breakfast or going to MacDonald’s.

This place was recommended to me. We decided to try it out because we aren’t from this side of town and wanted somewhere good to go for breakfast. First off extremely outdated. Needs a remodel for sure. Kinda dusty not very clean. Food was not great and bland. They use fake cheese on their omelettes. It tastes like the Kraft plastic cheese you unwrap. Service was decent and attentive. Would not go back.

I really like this place. It’s a no frills café but the food is good and the service is good too. I usually get the corned beef hash and eggs and love it. My wife doesn’t let me make it at home because it isn’t good for my blood pressure so I have to go out to eat it. LOL They have an outdoor patio which is kind of dog friendly. Your dog has to be well behaved and patio trained. They must have had some unruly dogs in the past. Luckily my retriever is well behaved, well most of the time. The portions are big and the prices are reasonable. They have a local following including some old timers who hang out and drink coffee and talk fishing. Across the street is Round Lake which has a nice easy trail around it where you can burn off some of the calories you just ate. Just be careful crossing the street.

Pros: excellent fruit cup on the side. Ask for it! Thick, sturdy bacon. Generous portion & quality cut! Friendly staff Cons: doubles as a child daycare in the dining room

This is exactly how it should be, friendly, home like, honest food that you can eat everyday, ie not laden with fat. I like it for breakfast, haven’t tried it for lunch or dinner, but plan to. Will be back.

We have finally gotten to the point where we can leave our 6-year-old rescue dog alone at the house; so every Tuesday we’ve been going on breakfast dates to continue to get him used to both of us leaving. Thus, we have been searching for breakfast/brunch locations not too far from our home. The Lakeside Chalet opens every day at 6:30am which is great since we like to go out as early as possible for breakfast before we get started at work(most places around here open at 8am). This place had a couple of large groups of older men drinking coffee and gossiping(seemed to be a regular outing for them). We sat in the larger dining area which was more or less empty at 7 – 7:30am on a Tuesday. The food was average. We did not explicitly ask, but are nearly certain that the maple syrup with our waffles was artificial which says enough for the rest of the food. I ate my waffle without the syrup and it was pretty good with just butter. In our opinion Belgian waffles should be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. These waffles were sort of halfway between crispy and soft throughout. We ordered the waffle combo which came with an egg and two strips of bacon. I ordered scrambled eggs, but they were not very fluffy. It looked as if they made a plain omelette and cut it into strips. My hot tea only came with one bag. I assume I could have asked for another tea bag if I wanted another cup. The server offered me more hot water but not an additional tea bag. Not a big deal, just odd. The country-style décor along the walls inside the restaurant is amusing. Everything has a price tag(and each gently swayed when the heater kicked on). I am curious if they’ve ever sold anything as most of the items were a little dusty. Our server(also the owner?) was very nice and tended to our table just enough. The décor is rounded out with semi-working fluorescent lighting :) They have patio seating which I did not see, but I think if you went here on a warm, sunny afternoon and sat in the patio that the view would be the real reason for going here(then, I also assume it would be very busy). We are happy we tried this restaurant, and we will be back someday to try out the patio.

Lakeside shales this a great spot to stop and have a hearty breakfast or lunch. The parking is tough if it’s a little busy. But the staff is great and food is great. One thing we really think is neat is they change all there salt and pepper shakers to match the seasons.

Nice quaint restaraunt on the lake. Family owned and run. Good food at a very reasonable price. If calories are a concern this might not be the place for you… or if you are expecting a refined experience. Just tasty food and nice people. I’ll be back on my next visit to Camus.

A cute old house amidst the trees of Lakeside, this restaurant offers homestyle American cooking. My family and I went there for a late dinner on a Saturday evening. We seated ourselves outside on the patio where the warm sunset light streamed through the trees to create a welcoming ambiance. The menu offered a wide selection of sandwiches, burgers, lunch entrees, and dinner entrees. Most of my family took advantage of the section labeled«for those with smaller appetites». After some deliberation, I ordered the half sandwich — soup combo. The soup came first, a moderately sized cup of clam chowder. Although I appreciated the homecooked taste, I wish there had been a stronger clam flavor. The bacon bits were a surprise, though not as flavorful as I expected either. My half turkey deli sandwich was pretty standard. I appreciated the generous serving of high quality turkey slices. Ingredients were fresh, albeit simple. The entrees the rest of my family ordered also came with generous portion sizes. However, none of the dishes were spectacular. The chicken fried steak and grilled pork were both bland. The green beans were overcooked and mushy. One positive was the raspberry vinaigrette dressing that came with the salad. It had just the right balance of tangy and sweet. The other highlight was the handdipped malt. It was deliciously creamy, and not over sweetened. Overall, despite the mediocre taste of the food, we still enjoyed our meal. I loved our waitress, who was very warm and friendly. The whole restaurant just gives off the vibe of home and left us all in a positive mood.
