Golden Krust

Usually the service is full of attitude and the food is blah but last night around 11pm Pauline was so sweet and accommodating. The food taste fresh not old and just tasty. I had roti curry chicken. My sister had 4 orders of curry chicken. I only wish there was oxtails but nonetheless our food was good. Thanks Pauline!

Although this Golden Krust location is open later than most, I would rather not frequent this one after this last visit, because I want to pass on the side of nasty and rude with my food.
I walked in today to a crowded store (the usual) and I requested a large jerk chicken with rice and peas, plantains and a small side of macaroni & cheese (which smelled funny like old oil by the way, but continuing on) and I requested specifically that I have a lot of oxtail gravy on the rice AND chicken because although the food is tasty, sometimes the jerk chicken is a little dry…
I see her lackadaisical attitude when she chopped my chicken with one hand while holding my plate in the other with a butcher knife and as she places the chicken on the plate, I ask again if she can put gravy on the chicken, she states she already did so… but I’m watching her the entire time and she did not.
After that, I just sigh inside and state that it doesn’t appear to have gravy on the chicken and she rudely insists it does, so I give up that argument because I see she has sealed my aluminum plate and is not opening it again.
She asks me if I would like anything else and I tell her «yes, sorry, I would like a side of plantain as well» and she rudely smiles as if she is holding her tongue and slaps some dry plantains in a small bowl and tells me the amount. After I give her my card in her hand, expecting it back in my hand, she places it on the counter and proceeds to yell «next» as if she could no longer be bothered with me… so… why ask me if i need anything else if you didnt really want to know anyway…
Case & point, my thing is if you don’t like taking orders, maybe you should just cook in the back or not work here at all and that is always the vibe I get here… someone irritated and rude and over-​the-​top with taking orders… my money won’t be spent here again. It’s a wonder why the tip jar stays empty in there…
+1 star for the food. –4 stars for the customer service.

With nuff alternatives in the area for authentic Caribbean cuisine, this chain spot holds its own… not only against the other locals but, by far the best of the chain in this area of town.
My go-​to dishes are the Jerk Chicken, Oxtails, the occasional jerk chicken patty… and for a sweet treat, I get a bread pudding.
Healthy portions in the large dinner tin. Despite other reviews, I find the staff to be down to earth and hospitable.
Worth a taste.

Food is always decent. I ordered some crust and a snapper fish for dinner after kea fin work. The women in there are rude and nasty. I ordered my food and was talking on the phone and the women rudely stated I needed to get off the phone because she could not hear me. I clearly stated what I wanted before I proceeded to talk back on the phone. I will not come back due to their rude customer service.

Mental and written note to myself as well as to you. I will NEVER eat at this golden krust AGAIN!!! I thought all golden Krusts had the same recipe or ingredients. Well for some reason this one in Cambrian heights is following their own recipe… I ordered the Ackee and saltfish (I figure the only thing you can totally mess up is having too much salt in the saltfish. WRONG!!! Apparently the chef LOVES vinegar. It tasted as if the WHOLE bottle of vinegar was poured into my dish. I spent $ 10.86 for it but wasn’t complaining because I know Ackee is an expensive fruit. However what I DID get was vinegar with Ackee and a HINT of saltfish!!! Needless to say I pray they either remove the chef or I’ll continue going to Yard flavors in Elmont. (End of rant)

I just went to Golden Krust on linden blvd. Ordered a beef patty. The cashier there was very unprofessional. She had the Nastiest attitude I have ever experienced at a Jamaican restaurant. I work close by and I go there for lunch 5 out of 7 days a week. Would never shop at this golden crust ever again and I would never recommend a friend.

The food at this chain location is actually authentic. I usually go there for breakfast on the weekends. The service is prompt. The cornmeal porridge is delicious!

I absolutely love the Jamaican rum raisin ice cream and always get a Ting, curry and jerk chicken patties and love the fact it’s walking distance. I’ve had one encounter last October when one of the ladies in there had an attitude for no reason, with it being my first time there, I didn’t know there was a $ 10 minimum to use my cc. Sometimes it’s not what you say, but how you say it and she said it extremely rude. After that, I had no problems until 2 days ago when this other cashier just had the worst attitude after I asked for curry chicken patty. She just flat out interrupted and said, «We don’t have curry chicken!» First off, I didn’t ask for curry chicken when I specifically asked for curry chicken patty. Just flat out rude! I’ll go to another Golden Krust further away before I even spend anymore money at this location, even though this is way closer! Point blank!

Being part of a chain has its drawbacks and advantages. The advantage for the consumer is that you always know what you’ll be getting, which in the case of Golden Krust is good affordable Jamaican food. The beef patties, the jerk, the oxtails and everything here is tasty, spiced nicely and enjoyable. The drawback is that it is just decent, nothing that will blow your socks off! There is something to be said for consistency, so if you’re looking for quick good Jamaican fare, you won’t be disappointed.

Their jerk chicken is something that will keep you coming back, although I’ve had better. This Golden Krust’s food is better when you compare it to other Golden Krusts in the area. It’s open late so that is a plus. However, I only come here if I’m desperate. The people that work there have annoying chip on their shoulder and almost everytime I come here I leave annoyed with the cashier. Their attitudes are ridiculous and for no reason. The service sucks and they don’t appreciate your patronage. If I can avoid spending money here then I do.

Had to wait ten minutes for my beef patty, but it was worth it. Beware of the stank face.
