Good for a tasting but beware: if you buy a bottle of wine they don’t waive the tasting fee! If you buy two bottles of wine they only waive one! So unless you plan to taste alone, it’s not worth it. I would have tipped the woman working the same price as the tasting fee for her great service, but I felt so nasty after hearing that I still had to pay for two tastings after buying one of their more expensive bottles, that I left in shock. I live an hour from Napa, and I’ve never had that kind of experience before. It actually discouraged me from buying their wine! One of the best reasons to buy a bottle is to get the tasting for free. Something is missing here.

We’re in the Road Song Airstream and find ourselves in Cambria, CA. As beer drinkers, the thought of doing a wine tasting room was a little intimidating but you know the saying, «When in Rome…» Anyway, a quick Unilocal survey of tasting rooms in Cambria kind of startled me. Moonstone Cellars(at the time of this writing) had 68 reviews and a 5 star rating??? Practically and statistically unheard of in Unilocal world so regardless of the product or service, I was intrigued and just had to go in and have a taste. So glad we did. Jake behind the counter was extremely nice, courteous and answered all of our lame wine questions. We threw him a curve right off the bat when we asked for the cheese snack plate,(assorted cheese, crackers, nuts and chocolate) without the cheese(Vegan) haha! He said«Well thats a first», but went with it and even added fresh apple slices. How’s that for customer service. Sipped our way from whites to reds and had some laughs. Very friendly, very comfortable and the wine was delightful, even brought a couple of bottles back the the travel trailer for celebrations further down the road. So while we’re not wine experts, we do know a good time, super service and know 5 stars when we taste it!

Great people, great wine, relaxing tasting room and… the best is that our dogs were welcomed and we got to spend quality time with Lucy, the lovely furry hostess! ;-)

As I open up my latest shipment from Moonstone, I think I can safely say that I am completely and totally enamored with this winery. The funny thing is that I’m still not sure exactly why. Is it because: — their very warm and inviting tasting room is so casual and friendly that it’s more like drinking at a friend’s home than a tasting room? — I saw two locals ride up on their horses, dismount then walk in for a tasting? True story. I just hope they didn’t get a HRUI(Horse Riding Under the Influence) thereafter. — or perhaps, just perhaps, their wines are simply delicious? Whatever the reason maybe I’m sold. The tempranillo was what really got my attention: big warm red with a floral berry nose and rich, dark color. My wife was really digging the Sauvignon Blanc: it has just a whiff of tropical fruit and ends with a cool, clean finish. Moreover, it is because of this winery that my eyes have been opened up to the wonderful possibilities Paso Robles wineries have to offer. And there are a ton(seriously, it’s like over 200 out there).

you don’t need a huge estate and a lavish tasting room to experience paso. moonstone splits the fine line of delicious wine and cool staff — where«revisits» and dogs are definitely encouraged. the staff is über knowledgable about their wines, oenology in general and even more so what wineries to avoid around the commercialism of paso. if you want victorian columns, this is not your spot. but, if you’d rather chill, chase down some great syrahs, pinots, and dessert wines, you’ve found your answer. now, shut up and take my money.

Awesome wines! Todd is a cool cool dude! How often does the wine maker actually pour your tastings? Amazing time!

First of all 7.00 for six wines is UNHEARD of, let alone six DELICIOUS wines. The wines were diverse and delicious. Secondly, the pouring was incredibly generous… need I say more? I will… Thirdly, the customer service was one of the best I had. Nate was fun, interesting, knowledgeable and great to talk to. My best friend and I were there for almost 2 hours drinking and chatting with anyone who came in to taste. This place is a must stop if you are looking for some wine and fun. Also the cheese and chocolate plate hit the spot.

This is one of our go to places when we are in Cambria. Tasting fees are $ 7.00 for 6 tastings, YOUGETTOCHOOSE which 6 of the 13 varieties. My daughter who is not a Cab girl ended up buying their 2011 Cab Sauvignon, it was that good. I who usually buy the red line walked with the 2013 Viognier. If you happen to be in Cambria, stop by Moonstone Cellars, you won’t be disappointed.(we visited 3÷14÷2015)

The best and most fun tasting of my life. Tod the owner is a really friendly guy with an interesting story. His wines are excellent. Very unique Tempranillo and Pink Elephineaux. Really smooth Merlot, Syrah(with a touch of pepper!) and Cab. I spent an hour enjoying the tasting and of course bought. Just go!

Good wine, good service and a good experience. We happened on this tasting room after having lunch. I was pleasantly surprised how good the wine was. I don’t know much about this region but I’m glad of the short amount of time we had that this is the place we ran into.

We came across the idea to go wine tasting when we were passing through town, and we are so glad that we stopped when we did! The tasting was great, and at a great price. But because the wine was so good we HAD to purchase some bottles and join their wine club. We are looking forward to our new bottles in February! LOVED the atmosphere and everyone was so wonderful and helpful. We will definitely return!!!

Thanks Moonstone for a lovely tasting experience and some very delightful wines. This little place was a true surprise for us, I really didn’t expect good wine in downtown Cambria. The Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay were my favorites, but we also bought a few bottles of the Zinfandel — it was that good. Friendly folks here and a place for our pup to lie down at our feet. Very nice, thanks!

Although we arrived just before closing, directed here from the Twin Coyotes tasting room down the road, we were not rushed through our tasting. The two women working were friendly and fun. Their wine menu states that it is $ 5 for 5 tastings. However, they poured us everything, including a very nice dessert wine. All of the wines were quite good. You can also purchase wine by the glass. Speaking of their wine menu, the person who wrote the tasting notes(a former employee, we were informed) was quite«creative.» We got a good giggle reading the descriptions. They don’t have a restroom, and the public restrooms nearby are closed because of the drought, but there are some decent port-o-potties with outdoor sinks, soap and paper towels available. Oh, and with some great music playing there was even a little dancing! I would definitely return here when in the area.
