Cute and quaint playhouse. So glad that places like this still exist. The man who started it, Jim Buckley, just passed last year. So glad to know that it will fall into trusted hands as of 2017. Staff was really friendly, and it’s adjacent to Heavenly Café which has a wonderful menu.

We saw the Picnic and really enjoyed it. Fun cast, very good actors. Small intimate theater. We had front row center seats. Great time.

Cambria is an idyllic little town, but it’s not exactly the nightlife center of California. That said, if you find yourself overnighting in town(and you SHOULD) be sure to catch whatever’s in production at the Pewter Plough Playhouse. It’s an intimate little venue with comfortable seating, not a bad seat in the house, and enthusiastic cast and crew that represent the best in community theater. A wonderful way to spend an evening, and no worries about traffic or parking or any of the other«big city» theatre concerns. We just saw the production of Butterflies are Free last night. A quality job turned in by all, from production and direction to the enthusiastic and talented cast. Put the Pewter Plough Playhouse on your«must see» list when you visit the Central Coast.

Just saw a recent production of Sea Marks with Mara Purl and Christopher Law to mark the 30 year anniversary of the production here. Outstanding. Love the intimacy of the theater, and very comfortable chairs. I got Marlon Brando’s!

As a small town community theatre in a sleepy village like Cambria, it is a joy to know that the crew and volunteers keep cranking out entertaining plays, with quality performances. Just saw Barefoot in the Park — a Neil Simon Play — Directed by Local Brent Keast. The cast was good, very good and the lead was fabulous. The audience was doing lots of LOL’s and it is fun entertainment. Tie that together with the piano bar and live music at the interludes, bring along good friends and one can’t help but have a good time. Wow! and all in my little county!

Just saw Tuna Christmas last night at the Pewter Plough Playhouse and all I can say is «Wow!!!» What a great show. I am still laughing today thinking about all the hilarious dialog. The two actors who played all the characters were amazing. Hats off to the director Jill Turnbow. I was not however impressed with the RUDE bartender, James. It seemed everyone at the Playhouse was excited to be there except for him. I absolutely recommend seeing this Tuna Christmas, even if you have to endure the bad attitude of the house bartender.

This place can be summed up in one word: character. It has it in spades. I have no idea how old the building is, but it looks like it dates back to the days of vaudeville. The auditorium is small, and there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Even better, all the seats are comfortable(each is dedicated to a movie star, which is a nice touch). The stage itself isn’t large, so there are some limits as to what can be done, but the atmosphere is fantastic. We saw a play titled«The Weir,» a four-person show about ghosts, regrets and human interactions set in an Irish pub. The acting was good and the play itself was engaging. Intermission gave the audience an opportunity to adjourn to an adjacent piano bar, which was a lot of fun, as well. Highly recommended.

We stumbled onto the Pewter Plough Playhouse last December when they were doing a Gershwin review. We got tickets and that evening proved to be very magical! We thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening, from the performance to the piano bar with David Manion. He’s just wonderful. We are going back next week for the«Wait Until Dark» production and to enjoy David’s great piano selections. Carolyn in San Jose, CA
