Went here after visiting Hearst castle. Had the west end burger. Was very good. Place had a full bar. Service was friendly and efficient.

Food was mediocre at best. Pasta had no flavor, and I’ve had better French dips from Arby’s, shrimp sauté was just alright but for $ 15 I’d say it wasn’t worth it at all, wouldn’t order it again. Only two stars because the clam chowder was good, and the atmosphere was nice, waiter was friendly.

Great bar and grill. Nothing fancy, just a great local bar with great food. Try their West End burger.

This place was a pleasant find. Four of us were on a coastal road trip and we did not have lunch and decided to stop by Cambria downtown to look for food(early dinner around 5pm ish). The downtown area is small, walkable and charming. it has a bit of the«touristy feel» but the price tags on West End Bar & Grill menu were not«scary» and fairly reasonable that we decided to go in. It is a BAR with some TVs playing sports in the background. The waitress/bartender was friendly and we all ordered different dish. Hubby ordered the West End Burger, I got the FISH tacos(saw a few good reviews about this dish on Unilocal) and my friends one ordered the grilled/sauteed fish dish and another the steak salad. I also ordered an oyster shooter which came out very quickly and it was very FRESH! I have quiet a sensitive tummy and I didn’t have any issue after eating/drinking/slurping the shooter down my throat. yummy fresh! The food came out within 10 – 15 minutes and they were HUGE… smaller stomach can certainly eat each entrée for two meals… we were starving and also don’t have small stomach so we ate everything that we ordered! I can’t comment on my friends’ food but they both RAVED about how juicy the steak was and how yummy and flavorful their plates were… they were happy with what they ordered. The fish tacos were huge. two huge tacos with lots of GRILLED fish! their special(mayonnaise base) sauce was yummy! hubby even liked it for the fries! We will certainly stop here again if we’re in the area :)

A very short review… as we didn’t dine here, but only ordered take-out for our family of 4 during the time of evening where food becomes hard to come by in Cambria. As the time passes 8 pm, your choices in this town dwindle, but thankfully, West End’s site said they were open to 8:30. Well, that doesn’t always mean establishments are cheerful about waiting for someone to pick up an order around closing time. But, we’re glad we called in our order for a burger, French Dip, Classic Club, and Cheese Philly sandwiches… and when my younger daughter and I arrived, we waited just long enough to take in the friendly vibes — about 3 – 4 tables of late diners, and a couple of folks at the bar, with the Kings hockey, Lakers basketball, and a Cactus League game adorning the sharp TV monitors. Very warm and friendly. I’m not sure, but the gentleman and lady who helped us through our wait seemed like they may be the owners… and both were friendly, casual, and welcoming, even for a father and daughter doing a pick-up order. The food? Outstanding sandwiches, fries, and cole slaw all the way around, especially my French Dip, the Burger, and the Cheese-Chicken sandwich. The Classic Club was drowning a bit in too much mayo(come to think of it, the Burger had a bunch of mayo, but we were told that when we ordered). So maybe a tip for future diners — if you don’t want a LOT of mayo, speak up! Fries were tremendous, and I’m usually not moved by Fries unless they are really good. West End isn’t fancy or unusual — they just serve solid food in a warm, inviting environment… and seem to appreciate that you happened to stop by. What more can you want?

Bloody Marys were outstanding, thick and nutritious with two olives and a pepperochini. Food was OK, though our friends really didn’t like the chowder. To me it was competently prepared pub grub but no more than that.

We spent the day at Hearst Castle for my mom’s 49th birthday and had the most perfect meal before heading home. We will definitely be coming back to Cambria and getting another round of the West End Beef Dip! Thank you Glenda for making my mom’s birthday so memorable.

Stop here every time we’re in town. Ordered s Bloody Maria & the waitress started arguing with me say they were traditionally made with beer. Noooo! It’s tequila! I challenge anyone to Google it. Boo. So opposite of owner. Too bad. Fast forward to two months later & guess what?! Another new person. One person at bar. We wanted to sit by fireplace, where we have sat for years, & we wee told that we could sit at a table for two or the bar. When I asked if it would be alright to sit there she went on & on how drafty it was in that spot. Oh yeah, even though it was cold the fireplace was not lit. We left & after 30+ years we will not go back. Oh did I tell you they had one customer & it was lunchtime?

Food was very good, but didn’t blow my mind. Pretty limited tap selection for a bar. Looked like a good place for sports — lots of tvs and sports stuff on the walls, including a neon sign that I kept whacking my head on. Server was great, and wasn’t too pricey.

Killer bloody mary! No literally, it was so spicy I died for a minute! But very good! Wife had the fish and chips with clam chowder. She said she loved it more than Splash café! I had double cheese burger with bacon and grilled onions. Cook took the time to carmelize the onions and added an ungodly amount of cheese! We stopped in Cambria for a couple of days and had dinner st the Cambria Pines lodge. Both places were great! If your in the area, make sure to stop by the West End, watch the hockey game(they have season pass) pick from their endless beer choices on tap, full bar and listen to their great choice in classic rock music! I wrote this review from my phone woth greesy hands from my burger so forgive the errors and abundant exclamation points, I’m just happy

On a trek down the PCH we stumbled upon this Bar and it was an amazing experience. The food is amazing, the best fish tacos I have ever had in my existence, well coming from New Jersey that isn’t saying much. The service is awesome, seems to be run by a really nice couple and they were some of the most welcoming people I ever met. If you ever find yourself driving on this epic highway and in need for some good food stop by and have one of their beers and a fish taco it’ll be worth it. Definitely stopping back in if I find my way back to the west coast.

Meh. Food, atmosphere, service was okay. Just passing through town and stopped for dinner. Prices were okay to match the quality of food. It felt like a homey place. The staff were somewhat friendly. The restroom was borderline…

Stopped by this Bar and grill on our way to Hearst Castle for a bite to eat. We ordered the cajun chicken sandwich, West end burger, steak salad, and a couple of fish and chips. The food was meh… The service ruined our experience at this establishment. The restaurant was clearly understaffed with one woman waiting on all the tables and an older man helping her run things over to the tables. As we waited for our food to come, we noticed that another party had received their food before us even though our food was ready and we had ordered before them. We saw all this happening because we were seated next to the kitchen and could see when the food was ready to be delivered to the tables. The overall service was inattentive and no one seemed to care how we were doing. When it was time to pay the bill, we payed with a credit card. The woman ran our card and had WRITTENIN A 20% TIP. Unheard of!!! Who has the nerve to write the tip in for their customers? And really?! A 20% tip? I understand some restaurants will charge a gratuity for 5 or more people, usually in the 16% –18% range, but this was at a bar and grill and it was lunch. We would have gladly given a 20% if the service was great, even if the food was just average, but to force customers to give you a generous tip, it’s wrong! They wouldn’t have been able to do this if we paid in cash. This place just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I hope this establishment reads this review and realizes that what they are doing is wrong. You will never get our business back and we will never recommend this place to anyone.

This place took us in super last minute, and showed us nothing but amazing hospitality! To top it off, the food was awesome! No punches pulled here guys, this is the real deal. All of our cocktails were bada**, specifically my bloody Mary’s which were AWESOME! Food was great, service was even better. I can’t say enough about this fun, laid back spot. We will definitely be coming back!

Food is really good. We had Fish sandwich and pesto, which was excellent! Highly recommend it! Overall a good place but if you’re looking for a great place, good is about the extent you’re going to get here. It’s good but not great. Friendly but not overly friendly staff might eak another star out of me if they were friendlier. Definitely worth a try.

I’ve had great burgers in my day and this place ranks up there with them. Always friendly staff and the kids never leave anything on their plates.

My husband and I stopped in for a quick snack in the late afternoon. The server/bartender was super friendly. The service was prompt, which was impressive because the place was pretty busy. This was your typical local bar atmosphere, which was what we were going for. I ordered a cup of chili, which was soothing and delish. My husband ordered the jalapeño poppers, which he was really happy with. Another perk to this place was the galore sporting events that were being shown.

The fish tacos are THEBOMB! Excellent value for the money :-) Hubby ordered them, and out came that plate of THREE generously-sized tacos just absolutely loaded with juicy grilled(read: NOTDEEPFRIED) fish, plus cheese and lettuce and salsa. Hubby LOVED them, and what a great value. You soooo get your money’s worth! I cannot recommend this dish enough! I had the halibut and chips, which was okay. I guess because it was halibut, it was a bit pricier than the regular fish & chips. For the money, I’d have been better off getting those fish tacos! All in all, a great little place to grab a bite in Cambria! The lady who helped us was very nice. We liked her from the get-go…and the prices were very reasonable, especially for Cambria. Next time we’re in the area, we will definitely come back :)
