5 stars for the food(could not have tastier food) 3 stars for the interior(a little dated could use a refresh). Everything I’ve had there has been scratch made, the soups, roasted turkey, that is they roast the turkeys for the Turkey club… delicious. Had some cabbage/chorizo soup… delicious. My son who hits all the ‘fab’ burger joints, Shake Shake, Boston Burger, Tasty Burger said the burger here was ‘awesome’. He had his with american, sauteed onion, lettuce, tomato, came with Steak Fries, so they have different fries depending on the meal… what? well all right. I did not ask if they made shakes or pies, 2 big ingredients for my diner fix, but honestly everything is good, whoever is cooking is skilled and cares about what they are putting out there, straight forward nice waitresses. Andy’s is super solid. stop by for anything you’ll be glad you did.

Great food. I work all over the Boston area, and eat at many breakfast, lunch establishments, and I have to say this IS the best place in Cambridge, and I love the free parking out back! Getting hungry writing this review. Enjoy.

Typical greasy spoon. Menu is limited. We ate here twice, there was never a line. The waitress was attentive and nice. The food was average.

Decent diner: average service, but very reasonable prices. My typical eggs, sausage, home fries came as expected. I didn’t care for the sausages though; Tasted funny. OJ is fresh, pulp and all.

I have been here a few times for breakfast, food is always very good and has a great all american diner feel. One of the best places around Porter Square.

This place is horrible. The food is bland, the interior is dingy, the waitress was rude and slow. She took forever to even acknowledge us by bringing us water then another eternity to take our order and never once asked us how we liked our food. We then overheard our waitress tell another customer, who asked if he could get the egg salad sandwich he normally gets during the week(it was a weekend) «Well, it ain’t a weekday.» The only reason I’m giving this place two stars is for the younger waitress who quickly tried to correct the situation by asking the chef, who was more than happy to make the regular customer his egg salad.

A really basic, no frills excellent classic diner. Great device, decent prices, yummy omelettes. I wish there were more places like this in Cambridge.

Extremely friendly service, cozy traditional diner atmosphere. Not gourmet food, but you’d be silly to expect that from a diner in the first place. Hot coffee, short wait time and decent food. I’d go back.

It’s a diner, and it’s a good one. The service I experienced was friendly and fast. The food was hot and fine. I’m amused by the negative reviews of a place that charges 7 – 8 bucks for a full, hearty breakfast. When you walked in, where did you think you were?

Before coming here I was warned about the poor service so I was prepared ahead of time, but it was a convenient location for breakfast food. It’s a typical seat yourself diner with a pretty standard breakfast menu. No complaints about the food, I got scrambled eggs with hash browns, toast and bacon. The service was the bad part because it took a while for someone to take our order and for the food to come. Then we asked to order off the lunch menu for a to go order and were informed lunch started at 12. Then at 12, we went to place an order and they informed us they couldn’t start lunch until all the breakfast orders were complete. They were nice about it, but it just seemed like a bad system. Overall, does the trick for a simple breakfast, but service is not great.

1. The food is mediocre, but well priced for what you get. 2. The service was incredibly rude and slow.

Andy’s Diner is one of the hidden gems in Porter Square/Cambridge if you’re looking for good food, good prices, and an old-fashioned diner atmosphere. It’s not fancy, but it’s clean, the food is great, and the service is fast. This is one of the restaurants I’ll miss most. One note: they’re closed on Easter Sunday(and probably other holidays). My boyfriend and I tried to go there for brunch on Easter and found it closed, so I wanted to save you the disappointment!

Exactly what you would expect from an old-time diner. Lots of locals, friendly, looks like a hole-in-the-wall from the outside. Very good prices. Fast service, seems like fresh food. We will be back again and again.

Why is this diner so popular? The food is probably on the lower end of the mediocre side. It’s very average tasting food that one can prepare at home… for a lot cheaper! Over-priced for the food they service. They are however, quiet friendly.

The service was fast and friendly. The food was exactly what I expect and want from a diner: a little greasy, filling, and cheap. The atmosphere was quiet and clean. If you want to go out for breakfast on a Sunday morning and not have to wait in line with a bunch of hipsters for overpriced eggs and bacon, this is the place for you.

Yes, brunch is certainly a thing we do these days: you grab a bunch of friends, go to some unnecessary chichi place to order something involving pork belly, and drink ourselves to the point where we need to go back to bed at 3 pm(because it’s brunch and we got there at 1pm… because it’s brunch). But what happened to good old fashion breakfast? The meal where you order a stack of pancakes, maybe an omelet, and wax poetic over thirteen cups of coffee. I’ll tell you what happened; it never left. Yes, you read that right, breakfast is alive and well and you don’t need to go to IHOP, McDonalds, or a hotel to escape the droves of hipsters, yuppies, and general ass-hats who are filling up those brunch places. Andy’s diner is simple. On weekends you have omelets, french toast, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches. Weekdays you can add a breakfast wrap to that list. This place is real diner food done the way it should be, perfectly simple. Yes, they do have an assortment of things you can add to your pancakes and french toast. I’m partial to bananas. Aside from the food here being perfect to help you start your day, everything is cheap – half the price of some of the nearby brunch places, and this place has history(it opened up in 58). This place is definitely my jam when I want to grab breakfast on the weekends or I have the day off and I wholeheartedly believe it should be yours too if you live near by or happen to be passing through. Finally, thank God they’re not cash only – this is 2013, we have the technology. Bottom Line: Banana french toast, large iced coffee, and a breakfast sandwich. You’re welcome.

Some of the best food we had in Boston. And without a doubt, the service was stellar. My friends and I were in town for the Head of the Charles. We didn’t want anything fancy, we just wanted good diner food, with a decent price, and lots of it. Andy’s provided. Our waitress was a sweetheart, a very lovely woman. We didn’t ask her name but I’m regretting it now. She talked with us before we ordered and she knew her stuff when it came time to talk about food. We all ordered various meat and egg items and all were just what we wanted and expected. I had the meat and egg extravaganza, or something like that, and it was great. Others had the omelets, pancakes and french toast. No one left hungry and our wallets were much more full than if we had gone to some of the trendier options. The food came out quickly, the plates and bowls are AMAZING(pay special attention to them, they’re true Americana) and I have never had diner eggs poached as well as they poached them. We’ll be back next year and any time we’re in town.

Andy’s, on the Diner Gots/Got Nots scale. Gots: — Eggs — Raisin bread french toast — Ancient coffee mugs w/unlimited refills — Torn upholstery — Anachronistic interior — Awesome, no-nonsense service — Free parking behind the joint — WiFi. Huh, who knew? Got Nots: — Anachronistic pricing — Credit card readers — Enough seasoning. Shakers at the ready; you’re gonna need them. The epitome of A-OK. Service as sweet as pie, but you can’t charge Cantabrigian price points for institutional foodstuffs. When you do, the universe weeps.

This is an old school diner. Large menu with all of your staple dishes. Breakfast served all day long. Oh and did I mention an awesome waitress? Kelly is the best! Yes of course we are friends so I know she will take care of me but I watch her work the whole restaurant by herself. She knows everyone’s name and what they usually order. Coffee refills without asking. She is just on point when it comes to service with a smile. I’ve been here twice in the last week. Dark meat turkey sandwich on scali toast and a multi grain belgian waffle. Both yummy and filling. I wish Andy’s was closer to my house because I would make it my go to for breakfast and lunch. New menu items recently added so check it out. GOODJOBJIMMYANDPHIL

For those days when you don’t want to stand in line at Rosebud, walk half a mile down the street to Andy’s Diner. The home fries were some of the best I’ve had in the city, the eggs were buttery and delicious, the coffee was refilled at a good pace, and there’s enough seating that you shouldn’t have to wait too long. In short, go here for a tasty, no-frills breakfast — the hours may be short, but the flavors are strong!
