It is what I want. Breakfast. Standing in line at Soundbites to eat the same food with catchy names is not cool. Ball square café? Sorry, but I did not come out for breakfast to pour my own coffee. Kelly’s it is exactly what I expect to get. And the prices are good. Fast clean service from the locals.

Mediocre at best. I ordered hash and eggs. I’ve never had worse hash. They said it was homemade but I doubt it. Decent eggs and toast but not very difficult to mess that up I guess.

back in town and made my sister in law take us here for breakfast again. Kelly’s does not disappoint.

An overall solid choice for a laid-back, 50s-inspired, reasonably-priced diner breakfast. Not really four stars, but not really three either. So let’s be generous. I came at 10am on a Saturday morning to find three or four available tables. I quickly received my first pour of the bottomless coffee(somewhat weak, but a decent flavor). The menus on the tables touted the diner’s various awards, such as being featured on Diner’s, Drive-in’s and Dives. My husband and I opted for our favorite breakfast combo, one eggs entrée and one sweet dessert-in-breakfast-form entrée to split. The eggs, potatoes, toast, bacon, and sausage were fine. The chocolate chip pancakes were really solid. Something about using mini chocolate chips, I think. I was surprised by the number of yuppies filling up the diner. Not exactly what I was looking for. However, the waitress’s accent and frequent, but somehow charming, questions to our general dining area about who asked for sweetener or a glass of water brought back the local Boston vibe. I suspect that I will still prefer the Deluxe Diner in Watertown, but this was a good breakfast for two for $ 21.

Loved this place !! So fun and vintage and the food was exceptional. I love French toast and this was definitely the right place for it. Service was great and I would totally go here all the time if I could. Could not have been happier with this place !

The corned beef hash was really good. I also enjoyed the grilled blueberry muffin. I loved the feel of this classic diner.

Go here, food is awesome, service fun, love all the ladies and of course the hardworking busser. They don’t fuss here, they just get the job done. At lunch I always go for the turkey club, it’s perfect and they roast their own turkey breast. My dad loves to walk here early in the morning when he visits. They serve New England coffee roasters coffee from vt!

My favorite breakfast spot in Ball Square, hands down. I love the saucy wait staff, and I love the #7 breakfast, possibly the best deal in town. Authentic diner atmosphere, and never a disappointment. A consistent go-to; someday I’ll actually try something else on the menu, because the pancakes, for just one example, have been fabulous on the rare occasion that I deviate from the usual order.

I wouldn’t know what their food is like. I got there around 8AM on a Sunday. After I waited in line for a table, they told me they wouldn’t seat me, saying they were«very busy». They didn’t tell me it would be a wait. I asked if I could eventually sit, and they said no.

Your typical diner. Cool 50s vibe with mini jukeboxes on each table and the color pink wherever you feast your eyes. Price to food ratio is fairly decent, quality is acceptable too. Nothing bad to say about this place, but nothing out of the ordinary either.

I love Kelly’s Diner. This was my first visit but if it wasn’t my last few days in town it wouldn’t be my last! All their servers were women and it was noticeable they have perfected their craft. They were so attentive, fast in their feet, and assertive. Luckily, my friend and I arrived before«The Big Brunch Rush.» It could have made a difference. I ordered the #7 with a side of French toast. It hit the spot! I wanted to eat breakfast here after I saw the movie«Good Will Hunting.» Thanks Ben Affleck! I liked your recommendation!

Total disappointment. Waitress, if you could call her that, couldn’t get our order right. We had to send food back due to a food allergy that didn’t make sense to the waitress or the staff. Finally I said«If I eat this I will die.» That wasn’t the end of it because the manager or owner had to come out and ask if I was allergic to toast. There are plenty of better places to go in ball square. Pick one at random and you’ll have a better and less expensive breakfat. This includes the gas station down the road and the 7 – 11. If you are looking for impolite staff barely capable of writing down an order on a piece of paper go here.

I love Kelly’s diner. Authentic old school diner feel with amazing food, huge portions, and good prices. Their omelets are dynamite and they will put anything into a pancake you ask them too. With the green line soon coming to ball square their business should rightfully triple. Definite must!

I ordered two breakfast sandwiches this morning for pick up. Bacon egg and cheese on wheat toasted, easy right? Boy, did I get disappointed. First of all they were so small I could not believe it! Second, the cheese was non existent and there was barely any bacon on both. So as you can imagine, I basically got a piece of toast with an egg on it. Very dry and flavorless. Price, $ 10. Wow, really?! I threw them away. Never going back. What a waste of my time and money!!!

Definitely a classic old diner environment, which I’m a fan of. Our waitress, Betsy, was a sweetheart and very attentive! No complaints about the food and the prices are more than fair. I ordered the kelly super but asked if I could substitute the meat with an extra egg. She gave me two extra eggs instead which I thought was sweet. Adding blueberries to my pancakes only cost 50 cents extra which is totally worth it, they were very fluffy and delicious. My friend ordered the mushroom, onion, and pepper omelet which was humongous, he didn’t finish the whole thing. Will definitely eat here again next time we’re in the area!

This diner is as authentic as it gets here in New England. It’s an older place(compared to its competitors up the street) but with it, you get that old-school charm that’s missing in those other places. The waitresses are great, they have a sense of humor and will bust your chops sometimes, it’s all part of the experience. Their portions are great and so are their prices. Breakfast for two averages between $ 20-$ 25. It’s cash only and there’s a longer wait on weekends, especially before noon. We’ve never waited longer than 15 – 20 minutes, whereas Ball Sq Café and Soundbites may have you waiting for up to an hour. Be sure to always check out their specials(green chalkboard to the left of the entrance), they change them weekly and every single item I’ve had off that menu was delicious.

Great spot during the week to grab breakfast– not as packed as the weekends. Great service, love the old diner feel and the food is delicious at a good price. Cash only, so be prepared! I had the ham, cheese and egg breakfast sandwich and my boyfriend had the Kelly’s super which comes with pancakes, sausage, potatoes, toast, the works. He loved it!

I really like this place a lot. Their french toast is divine. Thick slices of challah bread, lightly powdered with sugar. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! I always get the Kelly Super, which is a sizeable breakfast. Too much for me to eat, but it’s all so good I can’t help myself. The service is very fast and the waitstaff is very friendly. Add this to the fact that there is much less of a wait than other breakfast places nearby. Clear choice in my mind, head to Kelly’s.

Kelly’s is a solid diner. There’s definitely a wait but it’s known for that and people get seated as soon as others leave so it’s all good. I was hung over from the night before and I ordered the Bacon, Eggs and fries and for $ 7.50. it hit the spot and my hang over was gone. I would come back to try their other things on the menu

Diners = love. And Kelly’s is no exception. After passing this on a million runs and weekend strolls, I finally went in for breakfast today. I was looking for something more personal that Soundbites and Ball Square, with better hash browns(fried mashed potatoes are SO not the same thing). Kelly’s definitely lived up to this vision. The waitress acted like she knew us before we even sat down(«you both like coffee, right? you know where the menus are» etc) even though we’d never been here before — adorable. The food options are not overly extensive but that just makes it easier to pick. My sister and I both got the«famous» homemade corned beef hash and poached eggs. Both were a lot less greasy/salty than usual diner grub — almost to a fault. I would rather add a little of my own salt(and skip the fat altogether) but it was still a little strange to have my tastebuds turned in this direction. Add a pinch of salt and pepper and you have me clearing my plate in record time. I love the scene here — the other patrons with their huge hair, the friendly staff, the non-working jukebox. I’ll definitely be back — and by then, the waitress should definitely know my order. Note: cash only, but there’s an ATM in the entrance.
